Aphex Twin has curated a Spotify and YouTube playlist for streetwear fashion brand Supreme. Titled ‘[mostly mellow]’, the 191-song collection clocks in at almost 10 hours worth of music and includes work by the likes of Burial, Severed Heads, Simple Minds, Delia Derbyshire, Brian Eno, Chris & Cosey, Clarissa Connelly, Piero Umiliani, Alabaster dePlume, Haruomi Hosono, Marvin Gaye, Actress, Holger Czukay, Tortoise, Run-D.M.C., Herbie Hancock and Pauline Anna Strom.

Трогательный альбомчик, особенно 2 и 3 треки, к ним как будто захочется возвращаться, хотя они все вместе бесконечно напоминают какую-то одну песню из прошлого, и создают отчётливо яркое настроение: как будто тебе 14 лет, ты едешь с родителями с дачи, на заднем сиденье, ты собирал клубнику весь день и устал, уже закатное оранжевое марево, все молчат, и ты высунул руку в окно, и в лицо бьёт ветер, а дома ждёт комп с двачем с интернетом или с игрулей, и впереди свободный вечер, и ещё завтра целый день, и вообще ничего не надо делать, и у тебя ещё полгода до твоей первой friendzone (как в открывающем треке), поэтому ты в свободном, блаженном и чистом неведении. И вот на фоне всего этого радио Европа плюс, и там именно такое, дефолтно романтичное, танцевальное, с прилипчивой грустной мелодией. Эх немного дал Гришковца, не знаю, собирали ли скандинавы тоже клубнику (мне постоянно мерещатся hardcore old money в established западноевропейских музыкантах), тем более она у них не растёт, но я испытал к ним тёплое чувство за этот прохладно-северный наивный ностальджик.

Influenced by classical and Hindustani music, the singer, violinist, and producer navigates between trip-hop, folk, pop, and electronica. We are primarily focused on Disco, Funk, Soul, Boogie, Italo, Jazz, Blues and Beyond. Warm rhythms for your soul!
Scott Gordon (Oto Hiax, Editions Mego, Black Acre), new to Diagonal but a veteran of experimental music, makes his debut via "Metals". It's a double EP of sorts: two sides of wax with two separate titles, "And Away" on side one backed with "Tilts" on side two. The EP's aim is to explore mechanical means to seek tone, rhythm and texture via unexpected objects and instruments. The recordings feature a purpose built instrument built by Scott himself, a large motorised frame which spins metals plates that can be struck manually via midi - mechanical beaters or by hand. It's engrossing, ethereal and unexpected music. There are moments of unanticipated, involuntary beauty alongside hypnotic and mediative drones. It's deep. Get lost in it.

hexed!, aya’s second album, confronts the desperation and dysfunction of addiction. Internalised phobias and suppressed traumas, haunt the corridors and golden hours once romanticised on 2021’s im hole; daymares concealed by nocturnal afters-hopping and key bag circles. Opener ‘I am the pipe I hit myself with’ exposes the gray portrait secreted somewhere between the 8th and 9th floors of her previous record. ‘I used to say some shit for sure’, ‘I used to say it when I was me-less’. hexed! is about what happens when aya turns the lights on.

Off the back of recent 13th birthday celebrations, Diagonal is now looking to the future with an exciting release from Australian upstart, Jonus Eric. Jonus has recently appeared on Gerd Janson's iconic Running Back label. This 12" EP features centre label artwork by Guy Featherstone inspired by Peter Saville's work for Factory Records.
The "Diode" EP comprises 6 tracks of sample – laden, psychedelic house music. EP opener, "Darkwhirl" brings to mind Theo Parrish, a regular reference point across the release. "Crimewave" offers an irresistible, funk soaked bassline. "Shapeshift" is when things get gnarly! "Antibiotics" reimagines a classic Todd Terry rave cut whilst EP closer "Polarity" provides a 90's IDM inspired finale.

Daniel Avery, Ghost Culture and Working Men’s Club’s Syd Minsky Sergeant combine for new project Demise Of Love. The three have known one another for some time now – Daniel Avery and Ghost Culture previously worked in a record shop together, and have worked frequently in the past. Mutual fans of Syd Minsky Sergeant‘s work, the trio entered the studio together last year to focus on new ideas.
Dark electronics with a passion for melody, it’s worth comparing to some of Depeche Mode’s seminal work, or even Nine Inch Nails; there’s a rock crunch, an industrial physicality to the production, while equally remains tethered to conduits within club culture.

With a focus on raw energy and haunting atmospheres, the project strips electronic music down to its essence—mechanical, hypnotic, and unrelentingly evocative.
Blending commanding rhythms with melancholic undertones, Scooterboys from the Pool is a descent into shadowy textures and dystopian landscapes, where driving basslines meet icy, mechanical beats in a pulsing haze of underground spirit.
At the heart of the album is the title track, Scooterboys from the Pool—a haunting rework of Bronski Beat’s iconic Smalltown Boy. Reimagined through ABF’s signature lens, this version strips the original to its essence, replacing its shimmering synths with something colder, heavier, and more urgent while preserving the emotional weight of its narrative. This track has been played at numerous DJ sets, and each time, it cuts through the room like a ghost from the past—achingly familiar yet transformed, stirring something deeply personal with its raw intensity.

This is the third mix I did for the Yaman series, back in September 1993. There was a definite audible shift in the music at this time that I vividly remember. What we called, Jungle techno, has taken hold of many of the dancefloors. DJ's were experimenting with playing hardcore, jungle and techno all in the same set. Influences and inspirations were creeping in from all directions, it was a time of pure experimentation and real expression.
