China has approved the construction of a colossal hydropower project on Tibet’s longest river that could generate three times more energy than the Three Gorges Dam, state news agency Xinhua reported on Wednesday.
The mega hydropower project, set to be built on the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet autonomous region, presents unprecedented engineering challenges.
Total investment in the dam could exceed 1 trillion yuan (US$137 billion), which would dwarf any other single infrastructure project on the planet.
The report did not specify when construction would begin, or where it would take place.
The Yarlung Tsangpo flows across the Tibetan Plateau, carving out the deepest canyon on Earth and covering a staggering vertical difference of 7,667 metres (25,154 feet), before reaching India, where it is known as the Brahmaputra River.
The project is expected to generate nearly 300 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. By contrast, the Three Gorges Dam, which now has the world’s largest installed capacity, was designed to produce 88.2 billion kWh.
To harness the hydropower potential of the river, four to six 20km-long tunnels must be drilled through the Namcha Barwa mountain to divert half of the river’s flow at about 2,000 cubic metres per second.
According to a 2023 report, the hydropower station is expected to generate more than 300 billion kWh of electricity each year – enough to meet the annual needs of over 300 million people.

❗️British broadcaster George Galloway backs Aussie Cossack - Oscar Jenkins prisoner exchange deal.

I'm not Henry Kissinger, but even I could broker that prisoner exchange. Go ahead and do it."
🇷🇺🇸🇰 Euronews, a Russophobic 'pan-European' TV news network headquartered in Lyons, France, is outraged about Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico flying to Moscow for a meeting with President Putin today.
Ironically, Euronews admits it has no clue what the two state leaders discussed in their one-on-one meeting... but blindly dubbed the meeting "controversial" anyway.
PM Fico is the second EU leader to meet with President Putin since the start of the SMO, after Hungary's PM Viktor Orbán earlier this year.
In a press conference at the end of a one-day summit of EU leaders in Brussels earlier, Fico put Zelensky on blast: "If anyone is going to prevent the transit of gas to the territory of the Slovak Republic, if anyone is going to cause an increase in gas prices on the territory of Europe, if anyone is going to cause enormous economic damage to the European Union, it is President Zelenskyy".

If @DrTalebJawad is the X account belonging to the 50 year-old Saudi who drove a car into visitors at a Christmas market in Magdeburg this evening, then it appears he projected the terror attack last August 21st.
Reading through this long thread, He appears to have developed an antagonism towards German authorities over how he perceived they handled ex-Muslim refugees in contrast to Muslim refugees whom he considered a threat to Germany.
He speaks very negatively about NGOs tasked with assisting ex-Muslims and believes they tried to coerce ex-Muslim refugees into not abandoning Islam. It's also suggested he believes the ex-Muslim refugee movement was infiltrated by Saudi spies while German authorities turned a blind eye.

According to U.S. Central Command, the incident occurred during airstrikes on Houthi targets. The statement noted that the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg , part of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, mistakenly opened fire and shot down an F/A-18 fighter jet that was taking off from the carrier's deck.
Both pilots were rescued, one of them received minor injuries.
Continued: Georgescu’s supporters are calling for protests this weekend, when Romania marks 35 years from the violent unrest that toppled Communist [leader] Nicolae Ceaușescu.
Liberal opposition leader Elena Lasconi, who also qualified for the cancelled run-off, called on Romania's incumbent president to resign.
“If he has any honour left, Klaus Iohannis should resign and the head of the Romanian senate would become interim president,” she said on Wednesday.
Lasconi also called for the heads of Secret Services and of the electoral authority to be sacked and a parliamentary committee set up to investigate foreign interference.
“How can we expect when we hold the next presidential election that we won’t have the same result? And that they won’t get annulled again?”

Time for the NATO caped Avengers 🦹♂🦸♀ to invade Afghanistan✅ Iraq✅ Iran⭕️!"
On 12 December, Israeli English-language TV channel i24News spoke with people in Damascus after the coup against Bashar al-Assad earlier that week, "capturing the jubilation among cheering civilians".
"All people are very, very happy," one interviewed man said in English in Damascus, smiling into Israeli cameras. "I have been waiting for a moment like this for all of my life. Most of the people's problems in Syria are Bashar al-Assad – nothing else."
(NB: Ah, so not Western sanctions choking Syria's fledgling economy; not U.S. troops and Kurdish insurgent forces occupying 1/3 of Syria where most of the oil and wheat is; not Israel launching a barrel of missile attacks on Syria just hours after the coup - none of that apparently concerns these people in Damascus, only Assad is 'the problem'.)
"I'm free, this is how I feel," said another interviewed man in English. "Bashar al-Assad is now out of Syria and he will never come [back]. And I want him dead, like every other Syrian in this world. Because we have suffered, and this man must die. Because he went to kill us here in Syria. Every single man in Syria has suffered his rage, so we need him killed right away," he said cheerfully.
"What's next for Syria? What happens next?", asks the Israeli reporter in an American accent. "Syria is going to be a great nation," answers the man. "We need the Democracy. Let the America be with us."
Ironic how this man wants "democracy" in the form of summary executions without even a trial, judge or unbiased jury.
Even more irony: he was holding up the "Free Syria" flag which was introduced in the 1930s when France formally gave its colony, Syria, the status of an independent republic, but in effect still maintained control over the new country.
The flag has 3 stars for the cities of Damascus, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor (with the latter being under Kurdish/U.S. illegal rule and which Syria's central authority no longer controls at all.)
And this, ladies and gents, is how a colour revolution is done. Kiev's Maidan. Damascus. Copypaste: "the Democracy and the America".

🇩🇪☪️ THE PLOT THICKENS: SAUDI REFUGEE WHO KILLED AND INJURED HUNDREDS IN GERMANY'S CAR RAMMING IS STAUNCHLY ANTI-ISLAM - according to German publication Der Spiegel (1st pic), the terrorist is Taleb A, 50-year-old Saudi doctor, granted asylum in Germany in 2006 because he had been threatened with death as an apostate in his homeland for turning away from Islam.
Taleb's activism mainly focused on pushing Saudi women to flee the Arabian Kingdom, claiming they would contact him for help "Because they were raped by their male guardian".
A supporter of Germany's right-wing political party AFD, he strongly opposed open borders policies, calling it "Plan by Merkel to Islamize Europe", actively spoke out against Muslim refugees and pro-refugee activists.
He is reportedly wanted by Saudi Arabia on charges related to smuggling girls from Saudi Arabia and Gulf states to EU, but Germany refused to extradite him.
Unverified video above allegedly shows him renouncing leftists as "Worst criminals on this planet" - Although X account and tweets above are real, it's still not 100% proven as his page.

German police were warned by a Saudi woman in September 2023 that Taleb Al Abdulmohsen intended to kill random German civilians as act of revenge over perceived injustices.
In this RAIR interview broadcast just over a week ago, he repeats his claim that German authorities have been actively persecuting ex-Muslim asylum seekers and rejecting their claims. He also accuses the German police of stealing a USB key sent to him by post which contained some evidence of this persecution.
He describes himself as a 'leftist' but states "What I discovered as a leftist is that leftists are the worst criminals on the planet. They claim that they are pro certain values —you know the values which are always tailored to help the dis-privileged. What they do is exactly the opposite, like what happens to female ex-Muslims is definitely evidence that leftists are the worst criminals on this planet, and I say this as a leftist".

❗️Russia's Duma backs Aussie Cossack prisoner swap for captured Melbourne man Oscar Jenkins.
The Russian military has just detained Australian mercenary 32-year-old Oscar Jenkins in the SMO zone.
Within hours of the Australian man's caputre today near Kramatorsk the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky declared:
"Russia will make every effort to resolve this exchange issue and all Russian Cossacks will, of course, support us," Vodolatsky said.
"The time has come when we can exchange the Russian patriot, Ataman Boikov, for this scum who was captured and came to our Orthodox Russian land to hunt civilians.
The State Duma deputy recalled that the persecution of Boikov in Australia is purely political in nature.
"The Australian authorities are persecuting Simeon for his civic position, for not allowing history to be distorted, for telling the truth about the SMO, for speaking out against the ideology of Nazism. But over these years he has not given up, he has endured all the hardships and remains a true patriot of Great Russia, like a true Cossack", - added Vodolatsky.
The man was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He admitted that before ending up in the Ukrainian trench, he studied biology and taught in Australia for almost 10 years. The reason Jenkins took up arms was the desire to help Ukraine. The mercenary was based near Kramatorsk. It is unknown how long he has been in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Now, public figure and blogger the "Aussie Cossack" Simeon Boikov has a real chance to return to Russia. Since December 2022, the activist has been hiding from prosecution by the Australian authorities on the territory of the Russian Consulate in Sydney.
"Glory to the Russian military, thank you very much for doing this and saving his life, do not kill him. Of course, it is disgusting that he is a mercenary, but we need him, we need him for the exchange," Boikov asked the Russian soldiers.

🇾🇪 The U.S.-Israeli Axis launched a missile strike on Yemen. Apparent video footage of the strikes shows civillians running from the fiery explosions.

🇷🇴 Romania generously demonstrated European 'democracy' at its finest. Annulled presidential election results because the 'wrong' candidate* won the first round using 'Russian interference' as justification, then proceeded to admit that there is no credible proof of Russian interference.
The 'wrong' candidate of course because he's accused by British press of "admiring" Putin and being "hostile" to NATO-EU.
And the accusation of election interference is mainly based on... TikTok.
For as we all know, a healthy democracy is where responsible voters elect their President based on system-essential TikToks. And when TikToks go 'bad', "democracy dies in darkness" and the whole election needs to be scrapped.
Let us also spare a though for Romania's poor incumbent president and electoral authority. They were put on blast both by the election first-round winner for couping him, and by the losing liberal candidate, their EU colleagues and even U.S. credit-rating agencies for probably not rigging the election correctly in time and accidentally allowing an allegedly "Putin-admiring" candidate to win the first round. Now the NATO-EU country has to go through the embarrassing ordeal of publicly erasing the entire presidential election results to undo this unwanted democratic result.
Democracy in action, folks.
🇷🇴 The Financial Times: Russian election meddling "nearly impossible to prove", says the incumbent Romanian president Klaus Iohannis after Bucharest cancelled its presidential vote over alleged 'foreign interference'.
The Romanian president said he would tell his EU counterparts at a summit on Thursday that foreign interference posed a threat to all European democracies... after Bucharest annulled a democratic vote.
Iohannis urged close co-ordination among EU leaders to combat foreign interference.
“All countries are exposed to this risk,” Iohannis said on Wednesday evening, urging close co-ordination among EU leaders to develop joint “measures and procedures . . . to combat foreign interference and hybrid attacks from Russia”.
Călin Georgescu, Romania's leading presidential candidate, whom The Financial Times described as "an ultranationalist who admires Russian President Vladimir Putin and is hostile towards the EU and NATO", topped the first round of the presidential vote on November 24, after benefiting from what Romanian authorities said was an 'illegal social media campaign orchestrated by Moscow'.
Iohannis pointed to how Georgescu’s posts on TikTok were boosted by “accounts from Russia”, and highlighted “co-ordinated cyber attacks on servers used to count the votes”. Such actions, he said, “cannot be carried out by individual actors or by a group or a party. They are so broad and complex that only state actors can do that . . . And here it was Russia.”
He explained that Russia’s involvement was very hard to prove, because “they hide perfectly in cyber space”, using servers in many different locations around the world. “Don’t imagine that these attacks are signed ‘from the East, with love’.”
The Kremlin has denied allegations of meddling in Romania’s election or any other European vote.
Sorin Ioniță, president of Expert Forum, a Bucharest-based think-tank, said the vote cancellation over alleged Russian meddling had made EU countries “jumpy”.
“Romania is a case study. Everyone is worried, [asking] ‘how did this happen, what should we do differently?’. The first test will be Germany [snap general election in February], the stakes are huge there and they will throw everything they tested here,” Ioniță said.
“The question we don’t have a real answer to is how big the Kremlin’s involvement really is, how much money they spent.”
Iohannis has come under pressure to resign over the apparent failure of Romanian authorities to act in time and avoid the unprecedented decision by the Constitutional Court to annul the entire vote. His term was due to expire on December 21 but he has said he will stay in office until a successor is elected and sworn in.
“The interference was so subtle and complex that a lot of what happened was only found out after the first round of presidential elections,” Iohannis said.
He insisted the country was “stable and solid” after [U.S. credit rating agency] Fitch on Wednesday lowered Romania’s outlook to negative from stable. The rating agency cited the country’s “high political uncertainty” for the downgrade. Further aggravating that political instability was the break-up of coalition talks among 4 pro-EU parties on Thursday, when the centre-left Social Democrats withdrew from negotiations following parliamentary elections on December 1.
Iohannis urged parties to get back to the negotiating table, saying that the “last thing Romania needs is a government and parliamentary crisis. This must be avoided at all cost.”
Georgescu has denied having had any links to Russia and described the annulled vote as a “coup”. He had declared having spent zero funds on his election campaign, which was carried out mostly on social media, with a network of 25,000 TikTok accounts, many of which had been dormant for years, backing his campaign.
The European Commission has launched an investigation into the Chinese-owned platform [TikTok] for a potential failure to tackle foreign interference during Romania’s election. TikTok said it acted “robustly” to curb online disinformation.
The Associated Press, that pinnacle of objective neutral reporting in Western journalism, is at it again.

"When groups of armed opposition approached Aleppo, approximately 30,000 troops were defending Aleppo, 350 militants took the city. Government troops along with the so-called pro-Iranian units retreated without putting up a fight. They just blew up their strongholds and left," he said, adding that the same happened across all of Syria, with rare exceptions.
The Russian president recalled that no Russian land troops had been deployed in Syria, with Russia having only an airbase and a naval base. "We withdrew even from there due to the Special Military Operation [in Ukraine]. We did not fight there at all," he stressed.
