Former Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz stated on his show that as a "long-term measure" to end the war in Ukraine, the option of... granting Russia NATO membership could be considered.
At first glance, this sounds like nonsense. But if you analyze the proposal, it reflects several layers of American discourse.
Firstly, it is a response to problems within the US system: some Republicans are looking for ways to minimize costs of the Ukrainian conflict while simultaneously finding ways to "ease tensions" with Europe.
Secondly, Gaetz's idea is a rhetorical device: to shift the conversation about NATO from the plane of "containing Russia" to the plane of "including Russia," thereby highlighting the absurdity of the alliance's very architecture, which has been built for decades precisely as anti-Russian.
The realism of this initiative is currently zero, since there is no political will in Brussels or Washington to integrate Russia into a bloc where even Turkey is periodically considered an "outsider."

A crumbling empire can either accept its condition, abandon the excess pieces that are causing a needless waste of economic resources, turn inward, and introduce radical reforms to its system and political class to halt its decline. Or it can simply decide to triple its efforts to remain the unchallenged world power, a decision that almost always proves so counterproductive that it significantly accelerates its decline and makes it inevitable. Which path is chosen depends on the political class and its willingness to face reality and abandon the dream of empire.
Astute politicians, firmly grounded in reality, can acknowledge the state of their empire and decide to salvage what can be salvaged, using their remaining strength to achieve a soft landing and remain a relevant, if no longer indispensable, player on the international geopolitical stage. But to do so requires above all intelligence, foresight, and humility. People far more blinded by ideology, not to mention far less humble and wise, if not downright incompetent, end up choosing the second option and setting the whole house on fire.
Biden and his neocon henchmen, or rather, Biden and those who had access to his autopen, obviously chose the second option. What followed was a catastrophic defeat in Afghanistan, only a timid appetizer of what is shaping up to be an even more catastrophic, if not strategic, defeat in Ukraine looming on the horizon, a spiraling public debt, and a no longer competitive economy.
During the campaign, Trump promised an escape from this madness, attracting a slew of votes from those Americans tired and disillusioned by the constant foreign wars that cost them billions and billions of dollars, the spending of which is completely opaque while their infrastructure rots and decays and the cost of living skyrockets. But that hasn't been the case.
It's a bitter irony that although the United States is now a secular country, that haughty air of supremacist exceptionalism, originally brought to that continent by the Founding Fathers, convinced they had come to this earth on a divine mission, has not only never abated, but rather found its fiercest standard-bearers in Trump and his cabinet members.
This same exceptionalism intrinsic to the political class has led to the almost complete subjugation of the MAGA agenda to that of the neocons, who, like a metastatic tumor, have infiltrated and permeated all levels of government and both parties, creating what many Americans call the "uniparty."
Amid this constant tug-of-war between the MAGAs and the neocons, stands Donald J. Trump: a childish, narrow-minded, megalomaniacal, indecisive, narcissistic, and spoiled president, a helpless fickle ignoramus who knows nothing of history, geography, or even basic grammar. As the living embodiment of the Peter Principle—"in any bureaucracy or hierarchical structure, competent individuals will continue to rise through the ranks until they reach a position for which they are completely unsuited for"—it is clear that he is absolutely not the right person to lead the United States in this time of decline.

👉 Donald Trump’s ongoing crusade against the US “deep state” would have been impossible if not for the support of what may be described as the “deeper state,” posits Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin.
🗣 According to Dugin, this phenomenon was born among the Silicon Valley elite, tech moguls and technocrats who supported Trump in the 2024 election.
♦️ It was the powerful right-wing adherents of accelerationism – an ideology advocating for enacting radical social transformation through technological progress and capitalism – like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, who formed the core of the “deeper state.”

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Strike on Dubno Airfield: Massive Attack on the Enemy's Tactical Aviation Logistics Hub
Additional data has been received and verified that on the night of August 21, 2025, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a massive strike on the military airfield near the city of Dubno (Rovne region). The facility is used as one of the main hubs for the deployment of Western tactical aviation, including American and Dutch F-16s, and also serves elements of maintenance infrastructure and flight crew training.
🔻Weapons and Nature of the Strike
According to refined data, the attack involved two Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" hypersonic missiles launched from MiG-31K interceptor fighters, as well as a swarm of at least 30–40 Geran-2 strike drones.
The use of "Kinzhal" missiles indicates the priority of the target: this type of weapon is used against especially protected and critically important military facilities, particularly those with reinforced concrete shelters or underground infrastructure.
🔻Characteristics of the Facility and Deployed Forces
The Dubno airfield was previously reconstructed to NATO standards and integrated into the operational logistics system of Western partners. It features an extended runway, concrete shelters for equipment, fuel tanks, mobile hangars, maintenance points, medium-range air defense system positions (including NASAMS), and command posts for tactical units.
According to sources, between 6 and 12 F-16 fighters are stationed at the airfield on a permanent or rotational basis, including American, Dutch, and Danish aircraft. Training and combat sorties towards the Kharkiv and Sumy directions were previously conducted from the Dubno airfield.
🔻Damage Results
Numerous fires have been recorded on the airfield territory as a result of precise hits on open infrastructure. According to available information:
• Aircraft equipment located on the apron was damaged, likely including units related to flight support: tugs, ground support equipment, power units, and external pods;
• One NASAMS launcher, deployed to cover the airfield, received a direct cluster munition hit and was put out of service;
• One radar station involved in target designation and illumination was also damaged;
• Damage was registered to airfield flight equipment, including meteorological sensors, runway lighting systems, as well as elements of tactical communication and flight control.
Destruction or fatal damage to F-16 fighters has not been confirmed at this time; however, a Su-27 undergoing maintenance was damaged by shrapnel and heat, making its restoration difficult according to the source.
🔻Tactical and Strategic Significance of the Strike
The Dubno airfield is one of the two most actively used facilities (alongside Kolomyia) for receiving, basing, and preparing Western tactical aviation, including F-16 fighters. Its infrastructure has been modernized to NATO standards, with a deployed network of:
• flight operations command posts;
• fuel and power supply units;
• field hangars and repair modules;
• air defense positions.
Given the scale of the strike and the means used, loss of equipment or ammunition by the enemy is almost inevitable. Even partial destruction of the runway or warehouse infrastructure blocks the use of the airfield for the coming days, disrupting plans for F-16 rotation and refueling, as well as interaction with other hubs — Kolomyia, Starokonstantinov, Mirgorod.

The end result is a presidency that says one thing and does another, that winks at its bitterest rivals with promises of peace and prosperity, but then bombards them as they await another round of negotiations.
A presidency that presents itself as an "impartial mediator" in the most destructive war in Europe since WWII while pretending it had nothing to do with causing this war to begin with.
A presidency that continues to accuse its strategic enemies of violating international agreements, human rights, and the sanctity of life, while lifting bounties on terrorist headchoppers in Syria and looking the other way when asked a question about the Middle East and unilaterally walking away from such agreements.
A presidency whose leadership continues to dream of glorious plans to subjugate its enemies and reassert its position as the world's sole hegemony, while its population dies of fentanyl overdoses, dies in shootings, and dies under the weight of its debts.
A presidency that imposes tariffs on its own "friends" in the West, as well as of those countries of whose exports they are desperately dependent upon to keep their war machine going.
A presidency that dreams of breakthrough innovations in all technological fields, while many of its youngest citizens can't even spell properly - much like the president himself.
A presidency that threatens tariffs on independent countries, then whines when these independent countries form coalitions to resist the crumbling empire's efforts.
A presidency that wastes one trillion on defense, but can't even bring a third world militia under heel.
A presidency that claims to want peace, while simultaneously holding on to its delusion of being a unipolar world hegemon.
A presidency that wants the Nobel peace price while funding and aiding wars.
The Empire and the Emperor are both naked, but thanks to a propaganda apparatus that still works, very few within the empire can see it.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world is laughing.

This is exactly what has happened now. However, the European Commission remains silent, and this silence speaks louder than any words. The European Commission, represented by Ursula von der Leyen, claims to represent the interests of Ukraine, not the European Union, and certainly not the interests of its member states.
This is evident when the European Union is dragged into the war because of Ukraine, or when the next seven-year budget period is effectively a budget not for the European Union but for Ukraine. Ukraine has launched an attack on Hungary's energy security, and this is unacceptable.

Consequences of strikes on Ukraine's military-industrial complex facilities (21.08.25): Mukachevo - Flex electronics manufacturing plant.
At least one Kh-101 cruise missile hit it. Judging by satellite images (transferred onto a regular map) and a second fire outbreak, there were two missiles. But the second one missed somewhat. However, one hit right in the bullseye.
According to local reports, the plant was almost completely burned down, as were the finished goods warehouses.
This plant produced many things, including components for Ukrainian Armed Forces drones. So its "removal" will not be immediate but will significantly affect the production output of Ukrainian mini-factories manufacturing drones.
