Senior advisors Darren Beattie and Ricardo Pita reportedly instructed US diplomats to prioritize Jair Bolsonaro’s return, before shifting their support to his son Flavio after the ex-president was sentenced to 27 years in prison for plotting a coup.

The US sanctioned de Moraes in July 2025 and imposed 50% tariffs on Brazilian goods, alongside visa restrictions on eight Supreme Court justices.
The tariffs were eased after pushback from businesses reliant on US-Brazil trade, while sanctions against de Moraes were removed in December.
As Brazil’s presidential race goes to a second round, Lula da Silva has openly accused the US of plotting to “colonize” Brazil to seize its vast resources and weaken its sovereignty.

The project envisions around 13,000 satellites in orbit by 2035, which will not only provide communications but also carry reconnaissance equipment such as radars and optics.

Chinese engineers from Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute have put forward a concept that would place large antenna arrays directly into aircraft wings.
Fighter jets usually carry their main radar behind a nose cone, while traditional airborne early-warning aircraft mount large radar arrays in prominent structures above the fuselage. Wings offer a large surface area but are relatively thin, leaving little internal room for radar equipment.
The researchers argue that the future of distributed air combat will require many smaller, cheaper unmanned aircraft working together rather than a single large platform. That creates a technical challenge: achieving large-scale detection with relatively small individual platforms.
How the wing-mounted radar would work
🔶 The radar antenna is built directly into the wing itself, facing downward, with a cover that follows the wing's shape — this gives the radar a much larger surface to work with than a nose-mounted system, without needing a big external dome
🔶 To point the radar in a different direction, the aircraft simply changes its flight attitude, which tilts the wing-mounted antenna to a different position
🔶 The study outlines the system could operate in different ways, including scanning in all directions, scanning in several directions at once, and several aircraft working together — either spreading out to cover a wide area, focusing on a specific target, or joining forces to resist enemy jamming
🔶 Having multiple aircraft detect targets together is described as the key to the whole "small platforms, big capabilities" idea
A distributed network of wing-mounted radars on cheaper unmanned platforms would be harder to disable with a single strike and could extend coverage across the vast distances of the Indo-Pacific without relying on a handful of high-value targets.

Iran’s leadership has granted regional commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps expanded authority if contact with central command breaks down, recent reports claim. They also allege that commanders received lists of US military, political and economic targets across the Middle East for potential retaliatory strikes. The original order and target lists remain unverified.
If confirmed, the development would expand commanders’ freedom to act under Iran’s longstanding “mosaic defense” doctrine. Like the Soviet “Dead Hand” concept, it aims to preserve retaliation after a strike on national leadership, but through delegated human command. The idea has been around for two decades: knocking out headquarters should not leave surviving forces waiting for instructions that may never arrive.
Developed from 2005 after Iran studied US military campaigns, the doctrine led to a structure of 31 separate commands with local weapons stocks, intelligence resources and access to Basij militia forces. Its original purpose included keeping resistance alive against an invading army, even when national command links failed.
Iranian officials were already describing decentralized operations in March. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said military units were acting independently under general instructions issued beforehand. In remarks reported October 14, Guard political deputy Yadollah Javani also described defenses distributed across the country according to likely threats.
The October 21–22 reports therefore raise a narrower, consequential possibility: regional commanders may have received broader permission and more specific targets for another conflict. The available evidence does not establish which commanders, weapons or decisions such an order would cover.
For US and Israeli planners, wider delegation would make a leadership strike a less reliable shortcut to stopping retaliation. Orders already distributed could survive the officials who issued them, forcing an attacker to locate and disable dispersed forces while those units retain the means to fight. Destroying headquarters would not necessarily end the war.
