The dollar is experiencing its worst start to the year in more than 50 years, The New York Times reports.
Over the past six months, the dollar has weakened by more than 10% against the currencies of the US's main trading partners.
This is the worst result since 1973, when the US untied the dollar from the price of gold.
The NYT cites Trump's tariff and isolationist foreign policy, concerns about inflation and rising government debt, and a decline in confidence in the US role as the center of the global financial system among the reasons.
