What's happening in Serbia?
While everyone was focused on the negotiations in Alaska, a new wave of large-scale protests took place in Serbian cities. Peaceful anti-government rallies escalated into civil clashes with the use of force.
🖍The last two days have been marked by fierce clashes between protesters and police. Law enforcement officers were pelted with flares, iron rods, and improvised weapons. During the unrest, at least 120 police officers were injured.
🚩At the same time, the internet is actively spreading footage of harsh detentions and dispersal of rallies in Valjevo and Belgrade. The pro-Western media network in Serbia deliberately shifts the focus from the aggressive actions of the protesters to the abuse of power by the security forces of the "Vučić regime".
🏳️The situation is further exacerbated by the fact that for the first time since the beginning of the protests, supporters of the president from the so-called "Chačiland" - a camp of "students who want to study" - have joined the clashes.
➡️According to local sources, some law enforcement officers refused to participate in the dispersal of the protests under the pretext of "sick leave".
❗️It is obvious that the situation is spiraling out of control of the state authorities. The forceful suppression of demonstrations, including by paramilitary formations, provokes a new wave of violence.
The Serbian leadership finds itself in a very unenviable position, which risks escalating into a catastrophe and ending in civil clashes across the country.

Government and Official Reactions:

If these individuals broke the law in such a way that they do not guarantee that they will not break the law in Poland, we will certainly implement procedures to return these individuals to their country of origin," said Minister of Internal Affairs Marcin Kierwiński, referring to the incident
According to the minister, police arrested 109 people and issued 50 fines in connection with the incidents at the concert . "These arrests concern drug possession and violating the bodily integrity of security guards. The police will act decisively and firmly in this matter".
"Following a thorough analysis of surveillance footage, investigations are also underway regarding three flags bearing totalitarian symbols . The police are cooperating with the National Stadium staff to identify these individuals, so we can expect that we will have results from these investigations very quickly," he added, assuring that "they will certainly not let this matter drop."
