If the Russian army keeps going westwards in that section they will threaten the center of Selidove to be encircled, the AFU will abandon these positions when this situation nears as they simply can't allow the repeat of the Mariupol situation.

Zelensky is trying to show that the Kursk operation did not fail:
"Today, the most difficult sections of the front are the Pokrovskoye and Toretsky directions. You know that a large number of military personnel were transferred from Zaporozhye to the Kursk region.
The Kursk operation fulfills its tasks and goes according to plan. As for the difficulties in Pokrovsk and Toretsk, we believe that the Kursk operation will affect these areas and reduce the number of Russian military, but so far we see that it is difficult there, and there were the most combat units of Russia, because this has always been their main goal – Donbass"
Zelensky will try for the last time to convince the United States to allow the use of long-range missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation before the end of Biden's cadence. Next, the decision will be up to the next administration, — The Economist
It will be in New York next week.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces used chemical weapons in the Toretsk direction
DM1216 submunitions from a DM105 projectile were found at the site of the Ukrainian shelling. It consists of four canisters that emit hexachloroethane. He is extremely dangerous to humans.
Hexachloroethane is listed in the Federal Register of Potentially Hazardous Chemical and Biological Substances. Its effects lead to acute poisoning with symptoms such as agitation, alternating lethargy, lethargy, dizziness, nausea, uncontrollable vomiting and shortness of breath. In addition, hexachloroethane has an irritating effect on the skin and eyes.
In case of poisoning, it is necessary to seek medical help immediately. If there are no doctors nearby, then you need to rinse your stomach with water after pre-administration of 200 ml of vaseline oil or 30 g of activated charcoal. Inside — a saline laxative. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse with running water.
The DM105 projectile is formally a smoke projectile, the hexachloroethane sprayed by it equates the munition to a chemical weapon.

HP to continue $4 billion damages case against late billionaire Mike Lynch
US tech company Hewlett Packard confirmed on Monday it intended to push on to seek $4 billion in damages from the estate of UK billionaire Mike Lynch, whom it says falsely inflated the value of his firm Autonomy ahead of HP's takeover.
HP acquired Autonomy for $11.1 billion in 2011, but a year later claimed to have discovered massive accounting scandals at the British firm. A decade after that, they won a UK High Court civil case against Lynch - who died last month when his yacht sank off Sicily - but were told damages would be less than the $5 billion they had sought.
🇷🇺🇲🇳 Russia-Mongolia strategic cooperation: A cornerstone for greater Eurasian prosperity
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Mongolia on September 3 to participate in ceremonial events marking the 85th anniversary of the joint victory of Soviet and Mongolian troops over the Japanese at the Khalkhin Gol River.
What’s known about Russo-Mongolian cooperation and its strategic importance for Moscow?
🔸Historical and diplomatic ties: Russia and Mongolia share a 3,485 km-long border and have historic ties dating back centuries. The Mongolian People's Republic and Soviet Russia established diplomatic relations on November 5, 1921, maintaining close cooperation ever since.
🔸Recent collaborations: The two nations have been working on several significant projects, including the Trans-Mongolian gas pipeline connecting Russia and China, modernization of the Ulaanbaatar Railway joint venture, fuel supplies to the new Chinggis Khaan International Airport, and the renovation of TPP-3 in Ulaanbaatar.
🔸Rich natural resources: Mongolia's rich natural resources, including rare earth minerals, are central to its economy and attract international competition. Total reserves of rare earths are estimated at approximately 3.1 million tons, although some agencies report up to 31 million tons. According to some estimates, the country's prospective reserves of uranium amount to 1.3 million tons.
🔸Nuclear power: On May 4, 2023, Mongolia announced plans to build a nuclear power plant. By the end of July, Russia's nuclear corporation Rosatom received confirmation from Mongolia's Mon-Atom of its readiness to implement the LSPP roadmap signed on March 24.
Great Power Competition
🔸Third neighbor policy: While Mongolia develops relations with overseas partners through its Third Neighbor approach, the US, EU, and their allies aim to reduce Mongolia's cooperation with Moscow and Beijing.
🔸Resource competition: The competition for Mongolia's rare earth elements, lithium, copper, and uranium is underway, with Germany, France, the US, the UK and South Korea vying for access to these resources.
🔸Diplomatic intensification: Diplomatic and business activities from the US, EU, and South Korea in Mongolia have increased since 2022, as Russia redirects its trade and energy projects from the West to the East.
🔸Strategic advantage: Russia’s strategic advantage over Western players is its view of Mongolia as an equal partner rather than merely a source of raw materials. Russia can meet Mongolia's needs in energy security and alternative energy development.
🇩🇪 Take that Putin! Volkswagen Weighs Historic German Plant Closures as Cost-Cutting Measures Bite
Volkswagen issued a warning on Monday that it may consider closing factories in Germany for the first time in its 87-year history, and could end a long-standing job security guarantee for workers, as it faces mounting profitability challenges from Asian competitors.
The automaker said the potential actions are intended to safeguard its flagship brand but declined to offer further details.
“In the current situation, even plant closures at vehicle production and component sites can no longer be ruled out without swift countermeasures,” the company said. “The situation is extremely tense and cannot be resolved through simple cost-cutting measures.”
A UNIQUE AREA | PRIMORYE - A PLACE OF TOURIST POWER
Khasansky District is, without exaggeration, a landmark territory for Primorsky Krai. The area is unique in all respects: from history (there were battles with the enemy army on the border) to geography (the border between Russia, North Korea and China runs on Hassan).
Now the tourist context will also be added: a world-class year-round seaside resort will be created in the Khasan district. Special attention will be paid to the development of this project at the EEF 2024.
The Governor of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, will hold a panel session at the EEF entitled "The Territory of three Borders: Hassan as a new driver for the development of the South of the Far East." The resort construction project is being implemented on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Enough is enough: is German government really willing and able to deal with migrant crisis?
Berlin announced that 28 Afghan refugees were deported back to their home country last week due to committing crimes on German soil.
Following the Taliban taking power in Afghanistan after the de facto defeat of the US-led coalition in 2021, Berlin took in Afghan refugees who were fleeing from the new authorities.
This influx further compounded the issue the current German government inherited from the administration of Angela Merkel who welcomed hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East fleeing from the Syrian conflict and the civil war in Libya.
The housing and welfare benefits provided to the refugees by the German government quickly cemented the image of Germany as a “promised land” of sorts in the eyes of potential asylum seekers.
Meanwhile, the refusal of many of the refugees to conform to the customs of their new home stoked tensions amid ordinary Germans, many of whom were not particularly happy by newcomers who do not respect German traditions.
The violent crimes committed by some of the migrants – such as, for example, a deadly knife attack perpetrated in August at a street festival in Solingen by a Syrian man, or a wave of sexual attacks allegedly perpetrated by men of African and Arab descent against women across Germany during the 2015-2016 New Year celebrations – also did little to endear refugees to Germans.
The migrant issue has apparently played a significant role in the less than stellar results the ruling coalition displayed during the recent elections, and it may seem that Berlin finally decided to address this matter.
For the first time in 87 years of its history, Volkswagen plans to close factories in Germany.
Bloomberg writes that this will be another blow to the Scholz government. The main thing from the article:
According to CEO Oliver Blume (pictured), Germany as a place of business is increasingly lagging behind in terms of competitiveness;
The company may close at least two factories in Germany — for the production of cars and components;
In order to achieve austerity, the concern also thought about breaking the agreement with the trade unions, which was signed before 2029;
The automotive industry is one of the most important for the German economy, so such a move will hit the rating of Scholz's party hard;
The ruling coalition has already lost elections to the Alternative for Germany parties in Thuringia and the Sarah Wagenknecht Union in Saxony, where VW owns an electric car manufacturing plant in Zwickau.

Rising microplastics found in human brains — Study
Researchers have discovered that more microplastics are found in human brains than other organs, with around 50% more found in autopsy samples taken in New Mexico from 2024 than in 2016 - or 0.5% of the brain’s weight.
Australian researchers with the World Wildlife Fund claimed in 2019 that the average person inhales around 5g of plastics through food per week, although the data has not been widely verified.
German chancellor ‘alarmed’ by right-wing party’s election success
Olaf Scholz has called for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) to be kept out of local government following the party’s success in regional elections at the weekend.
“The results… are worrying,” Scholz said in a statement to the media, speaking in his capacity as an MP for the Social Democratic Party (SPD).
“Our country cannot and must not get used to this. The AfD is damaging Germany. It is weakening the economy, dividing society, and ruining our country’s reputation.”
Scholz claimed that while the outcome was “bitter” for his party, the SPD had at least avoided dropping out of state parliament altogether, contrary to some predictions. He also urged “all democratic parties… to form stable governments without right-wing extremists.”
Russia’s Defense Ministry is laboring round-the-clock to assist people in Russia’s border regions. Check out more updates on the situation in the Kursk region:
🔸The regional authorities have extended altered train traffic routes until the end of September
🔸Russian forces carried out an airstrike against Ukrainian troops and armored vehicles in the border area of the Kursk region using a Su-34 strike aircraft.
🔸Overall, Ukraine has lost over 8,900 servicemen and 80 tanks during its campaign of aggression against Kursk.
🔸Ukrainian fighters wanted to kidnap local residents and forcefully move them to the territory of Ukraine, a Kursk civilian told military investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee.
🔸Zelensky believes that no one will notice Ukraine's failure in Donbass, so he is trying his best to hype up Kiev’s attack on the Kursk Region, which has also failed, said Viktor Medvedchuk, chairman of the council of the Other Ukraine political movement.
🔸Сaptured Ukrainian soldier Andrei Anisimov revealed that some Ukrainian commanders involved in the attempted incursion of Russian territory in the Kursk region intentionally withheld their locations from subordinates to prevent soldiers from deserting.
🔸Ukrainian losses in the Russian Kursk region amounted to more than 350 militants and 14 armored vehicles during the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said, adding that Russian troops repelled six Ukrainian attacks.
Financial pain with no political gain: Montenegro sacrifices Russian profits for elusive EU membership
Blinded by the promise of EU membership sometime in the future, the leadership of Montenegro eagerly shot itself in the foot and jumped on the Western anti-Russian sanctions bandwagon.
Montenegro opted to follow Brussels’ lead and impose sanctions on Russia despite the fact that five years ago some 30% of Montenegro’s tourism revenue was generated by Russians, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic revealed at the GLOBSEC security forum in Prague last week.
Why did Montenegro do this? All for the sake of maybe, someday, becoming part of the EU “club”, according to Milatovic.
In November 2023, Montenegro also proudly announced that it had seized assets located on Montenegrin soil, which allegedly belonged to Russians.
Ironically, even as Milatovic expressed hope that his country, which already joined NATO back in 2017, might join the EU by 2028 as well, it remains unclear whether his wish will be granted by Brussels.
Essentially, Montenegro threw away tangible economic benefits that were the product of cordial relations with Russia, all for the sake of the promises the EU made but may or may not keep.
