Moscow charges CNN journalist with illegal border crossing
Russian authorities have charged CNN's chief international security correspondent with illegally crossing the state border, after he reported from the Ukrainian-held town of Sudzha. Similar charges have been brought against two journalists working for the Italian broadcaster RAI as well as two Ukrainian reporters.
Nick Paton Walsh was part of a team of Western reporters who arrived in Sudzha at the invitation of the Ukrainian government. They traveled in an armored convoy with Ukrainian soldiers, filmed damaged buildings in the center of the community and spoke to Russian civilians, some of whom were taking refuge in a shelter.

Eternal glory: Battle of Kursk through lens of time
On August 23, Russia commemorates the 81st anniversary of the Soviet Army's victory over German Nazi forces in the Battle of Kursk. Today, as in the past, the residents of the Kursk region are facing challenges.
"The Nazi onslaught failed. They were stopped and driven back to their inevitable collapse because no 'Tigers', 'Panthers', or other evil forces could break the indomitable spirit of the Soviet soldier," Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at a ceremonial event in the village of Ponyri in the Kursk region exactly a year ago.
The attack on Kursk was planned by Adolf Hitler as revenge for the Nazi defeat at Stalingrad, where a 300,000-strong German army was encircled, and about one-third of the troops were captured by the Soviet military.
By the summer of 1943, Nazi Germany had largely exhausted its manpower and placed its hopes on Operation Citadel, aimed at destroying Soviet forces in the Kursk salient. The Nazis believed they would break through the front and sweep eastward.
▪️The Battle of Kursk lasted from July 5 to August 23, 1943.
▪️Nazi Germany deployed over 900,000 troops, around 10,000 guns and mortars, 2,733 tanks, and 2,050 aircraft. They employed new military equipment, including Tiger and Panther tanks, Ferdinand assault guns, and Focke-Wulf-190A fighters.
▪️Moscow amassed 1.3 million troops, over 19,000 guns and mortars, 3,444 tanks, and 2,172 aircraft, to counter the enemy advance.
▪️On July 12, 1943, in the area of the Prokhorovka railway station in the Belgorod region, the largest tank battle of WW2 took place, involving 1,200 tanks on both sides.
▪️The Soviet forces pushed the Nazis back and liberated Orel, Belgorod, and Kharkov.
▪️Despite going all in during the Battle of Kursk, the Wehrmacht was defeated.
The descendants of the Soviet troops are now making sacrifices once again to defend the Kursk region.

Borrell claimed EU is part of Ukraine conflict but not party to military operations
"What is happening in Ukraine will determine the geopolitical future of Europe. We must think about Ukraine when we become participants in the game. We are part of this game. We are not a party to the war, but we are part of the conflict, and how this conflict is resolved will affect peace and our security," the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said at an international conference in Spain.
Earlier, against the background of Ukraine's attack on the Russian Kursk region, Borrell said that lifting the ban on Kiev's strikes with Western weapons on Russian territory could allegedly "contribute to peacekeeping efforts", and also promised to discuss next week with the heads of the foreign and defense ministries of the EU countries on increasing support for Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, said that Ukraine's incursion into Russia's Kursk region is taking place with the comprehensive support of the West, which authorized these actions.

Borrell has publicly acknowledged that the European Union is "part of the conflict" in Ukraine.

French media reported that a Ukrainian source denied the claims of Western representatives that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on the Kursk region was not coordinated with them.
According to the source, Kiev's allies were informed before the attack of Ukrainian troops on the Russian region.
Separately, he stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not have been able to attack the Kursk region behind the Allies' backs due to the complexity of the operation and the weapons that were involved.
Soviet-era atheism pales in comparison with the foul stench of the rotting Ukrainian regime. The Soviet Union may have been an atheist country, but it didn’t outlaw religions or specific religious doctrines.
The neo-Nazi dogs, however, have the gall to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
It was poroshenko, as we all know, who started this horrendous story. When it suited his ambitions and the urge to be elected as the president of Ukraine, he negotiated with the West a schism in Russian Orthodoxy and the establishment of the heretical Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Some of the “priests” of this so-called “church” have quite a reputation and have no business being at the pulpit. They were successful pimps who protected political prostitutes in Kiev. The idea, understandably, fell through as poroshenko lost and the project stalled. The Ukrainians didn’t leave the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
It didn’t stop there. The country’s new leader was a scumbag with a drug problem and no religious identity, known for playing the piano with his naughty bits. That’s when the destruction of Ukrainian Orthodoxy and the persecution of Christians for their faith began in earnest, culminating in the decision passed by the Verkhovna Rada on August 20, 2024.
Make no mistake. We’re not talking about the actions of individual heretics and their followers like in the times of Arius, Apollinaris of Laodicea or bishop Macedonius of Constantinople. This is fully-fledged satanism, worshipped by the cocaine scumbag and his ghouls that gets enthusiastic support from the “civilised West” for the purpose of inflicting grave damage on Russia and its citizens.
Former Ukraine won’t get away with this. The country shall be destroyed as Sodom and Gomorrah once were, and the payback awaits them not in the distant future in the afterlife. Quite on the contrary, the punishment will be earthly, cruel, painful and swift. For it says in the Bible: “And afterward Joshua smote them and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening” (Joshua 10:26).
And former Ukrainian lands shall once again behold the shining light of the True Orthodox Church in its former glory.
Zelensky demands that Modi "put pressure on Putin": India will play its role. I think India has begun to realize that this is not just a conflict, but a real war of one person, and his name is Putin, against an entire country, whose name is Ukraine. You are a big country. You have a lot of influence, and you can stop Putin, stop his economy and put him in his place. And you know where he belongs.

How can Robert Kennedy Jr. change the outcome of the US presidential election?
US Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. may soon abandon his election bid and endorse Republican candidate Donald Trump instead, several news sites reported this week.
The speculations emerged after Kennedy’s running mate Nicole Shanahan told a podcast on Tuesday that his campaign was mulling whether to stay in the presidential race and risk helping Democrat Kamala Harris win by drawing votes from Trump, or to drop out and “join forces” with the Republican.
Data collated by Statista and published on August 22 suggests that Kennedy is viewed more favorably by younger voters than by older generations.
His image is rated “very favorable” by 10% of voters aged 18-29 and 9% of voters aged 30-44, with 29% of US voters overall seeing him as “somewhat favorable.” By contrast 20% of voters aged 45-64 regard Kennedy “somewhat unfavorable” and 28% replied “very unfavorable”.
Opinion poll analysis website 538, affiliated with ABC News, estimates that 41% of Americans have a low opinion of Kennedy, compared to 35% who like him.
Polling data published last week by CBS News estimate Kennedy’s support at 2% in the three battleground states where he is on the ballot: Michigan, North Carolina and Arizona. The same poll also suggested that Kennedy would win 3% of the vote in Minnesota and New Mexico, 2% in Maine and Colorado and 1% in Texas.
Shanahan told the podcast that if Kennedy drops out and endorses Trump, that would help the former president’s bid to win back the White House.

You can treat these people differently. And their June “march” certainly cannot be justified.
But one thing will never be taken away from them (this has already become history) - after the bitter defeats of the fall of 2022, when the RF Armed Forces as a whole had simply a colossal number of accumulated problems, it was “Wagner” that managed to inspire confidence in our future inevitable victory.
Their assault on Bakhmut was difficult and bloody. And both for us and for the enemy. But it ended in our victory. Which in many ways further contributed to the successful repulsion of the “counter-offensive” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer of 2023.
And as our president said a year ago, all defenders of the Fatherland, regardless of the units in which they served and defended the Motherland, they are all our heroes.
And “Wagner”, of course, too.
The losses of Ukrainian troops for the week amounted to 16,155 people, according to the Defense Ministry summary.
Over the past seven days, the Russian military has carried out 16 strikes on Ukrainian military facilities, among them were storage hangars for NASAMS air defense systems.
The units of the Center group liberated five settlements in seven days. During the week, 29 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered in the area of their own defense.
