Schools in China reportedly isolate students as COVID cases surge

Doctors and residents across China continue to report more infections and deaths as the latest wave of COVID-19 continues, portraying a far more severe situation than the Chinese regime is letting on.

Schools in various provinces are reportedly suspending classes and placing students in quarantine, leading to growing concerns among the public of a return of lockdowns.

A “home quarantine notice”—issued by a primary school in Guangzhou and circulated by Chinese netizens on China's TikTok equivalent, Douyin, before it was posted to social media platform X on May 26 before CCP censors could delete it—has attracted widespread attention.

The notice said that a third grade student was ordered to undergo quarantine for seven days after being diagnosed with COVID-19. After the quarantine period, health certificates from a clinic and community health service agency were required for the student to return to school.

Schools in Shaanxi and Jiangsu also suspended classes after some students exhibited fevers, which were suspected to be COVID-19 infections.

The Chinese official data show that the COVID-19 infection rate doubled in April, with 168,507 cases, including 340 severe cases and nine deaths.

Nawrocki's victory in Poland will energize Euroskeptics across the EU

▪️Eurosceptic Karol Nawrocki's election as Poland's president will block Prime Minister Donald Tusk's euro-integration reform program and give fresh impetus to popular opposition across the continent, the Financial Times has found.

▪️Navrocki's victory is crucial ahead of elections in the Czech Republic, where eurosceptic Andrej Babiš hopes to return to the post of prime minister.

▪️Poland's election was also a victory for the United States, which actively supported Karol Nowrocki. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban - an ally of Donald Trump and Russia - is seeking re-election next year

Amazon price rules anti-competitive: German regulator

Amazon's pricing rules are an abuse of its market power, Germany's competition watchdog said Monday, paving the way for possible demands for changes to its business practices in Europe's biggest economy.

Amazon forces third-party sellers who use its platform to keep prices within limits that the tech giant sets, the Federal Cartel Office said in a statement, reducing the visibility of products that do not keep to its rules or even removing them entirely.

Amazon, which according to the cartel office accounts for about 60% of online retail revenue in Germany, now has the opportunity to respond to the regulator's preliminary ruling.

A spokeswoman for Amazon said it strongly disputed the cartel office's findings and that its rules helped its customers.

The Military Imbalance in the Taiwan Strait

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth drew some controversy over the weekend after he called China a "real" and potentially "imminent" threat and said that the country was “credibly preparing to potentially use military force to alter the balance of power in the Indo-Pacific”.

The comments were made Saturday at the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore. The chart shows the balance (or rather imbalance) of military power in the Taiwan Strait.

China's clearly stated goal has been "reunification" with Taiwan but it has never ruled out the possibility of using military force to achieve this. In recent years, it has modernized its military, introducing the J-20, an indigenous 5th generation stealth fighter. It has also commissioned two aircraft carriers along with several modern amphibious transport docking and landing vessels.

Even though the likelihood of China taking Taiwan by force remains unclear, the military balance in the Taiwan Strait is firmly in China's favor. This infographic provides an overview of that imbalance and is based on an annual U.S. government report released in December.

Big bank boss urges America to 'stockpile bullets, not bitcoin'

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon argued at the inaugural Reagan National Economic Forum in California that the U.S. should should stockpile guns, ammunition and drones rather than Bitcoin.

“We should stockpiling guns, bullets, tanks, planes, drones, you know, rare earths. We know we need to do it. It’s not a mystery,” Dimon said, referencing President Donald Trump's executive order in March that established a Bitcoin reserve.

Dimon is by now well known for his dislike/disapproval of cryptocurrencies even though his own bank now allows clients to trade them.

“We should be stockpiling bullets,” he continued.

“Like, you know, the military guys tell you that, you know, if there’s a war in the South China Sea, we have missiles for seven days.”

Bannon criticizes Graham's Ukraine stance, calls for White House to condemn drone attack

Steve Bannon, a former Donald Trump strategist, levied harsh accusations at long-term Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham Monday for his continued support of Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Bannon, while expressing frustration with Ukraine's drone attack against Russia over the weekend, attempted to blame Graham for "stirring the pot" and claimed the senior senator should be "arrested."

Bannon claimed the White House should condemn the military attack and stifle Graham’s diplomacy.

“The White House has to condemn this immediately and pull all support and tell Lindsey Graham to come home or we are going to put you under arrest when you come home.

You’re stirring it up,” Bannon said Monday on his “War Room” podcast.
Bannon also accused Graham of operating behind Trump's back to broker a deal with Ukraine and escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

“People better wake up to the fact that we’re getting sucked into this war, and if we get sucked in much more, it’s going to be tough to get out,” he said.

Swiss-owned battle tanks will not head to Ukraine as country reaffirms neutrality

The Swiss government has approved the sale of 71 of the country’s Leopard 1A5 tanks to Germany. But Germany cannot send the tanks afterwards to Ukraine as it planned–with Switzerland saying that would contravene its cherished neutrality.

A Swiss ordinance from 2022 prohibited the sale, transfer, and export of military equipment to both Russia and Ukraine.

Swiss defence company Ruag argued it only planned to sell the vehicles, which are currently in Italy, to German defence group Rheinmetall.

Germany’s government planned to refurbish these tanks, which first entered service in 1965, then afterwards pass them on to Ukraine to aid the country in fending off the Russian invasion.

However, Werner Salzmann, MP for the right-wing Swiss People’s Party, told Swiss news site Nau Switzerland had to be clear the tanks would not be used to arm Ukraine.

“Otherwise it is problematic in terms of neutrality,” he said.

The transaction has caused some debate over fears of weakening Switzerland’s highly-prized neutrality.

Czech justice minister resigns over $45M Bitcoin gift from convict

Czech Justice Minister Pavel Blazek has stepped down following a scandal over his ministry’s sale of nearly $45 million worth of Bitcoin donated by a convicted drug trafficker.

The controversy erupted on May 28 after the ministry posted on X that it had raised close to 1 billion Czech koruna (approximately $45 million) by auctioning off nearly 500 Bitcoin.

The funds were earmarked for projects such as digitizing the justice system, combating drug use in prisons, and improving housing for prison staff.

However, Czech news outlet Denik N revealed that the cryptocurrency came from Tomas Jirikovsky, a convicted criminal behind Sheep Marketplace, a dark web platform notorious for selling illegal goods.

In March, Jirikovsky’s lawyer approached Blazek, offering one-third of the Bitcoin as a donation to the Justice Ministry. Blazek accepted without probing the cryptocurrency’s origins.

“I have no way to investigate the matter, and I wasn’t interested so many years after the case,” he said at a Thursday press conference, suggesting the donation reflected Jirikovsky’s desire to “repent.”

It’s summer vacation time. Tourists are saying no to America

The summer vacation season has officially begun. Missing this year: the Canadians, Europeans and other foreign travelers who have flocked to America’s tourist hot spots in recent years.

“There used to be thousands of people from Canada. They would give me Canadian dollars and I would change it at the bank,” said Omar Tallat, 35 years old, who runs a corn dog stand near Times Square. “This year, business is very bad.”

About 1.9 million foreigners arrived at the U.S.’s main airports in the past four weeks, down 6% from the same period last year, according to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Airline bookings data for the summer suggest things won’t be picking up soon. Flight bookings to the U.S. from Europe are down by about 12% through August. San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles are seeing even larger declines, according to an analysis of online travel-agency booking data from Cirium.

Overseas travelers say they are swapping U.S. vacation plans for trips to Europe or in their own countries. Some cite the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown and reports of foreign visitors being detained or deported from the U.S. Others say they want to signal their discontent with the White House’s policies, echoing boycotts of American-made products by Canadians and Teslas in Europe.

Hegseth: The US is an Indo-Pacific power

U.S. Secretary of defense Pete Hegseth's speech at this year’s Shangri La Dialogue, the biggest defense meeting in Asia, demonstrated major continuities in U.S. security policy in the Indo-Pacific, but also some shifts.

The Defense Secretary made it clear that the United States no longer subscribes to its past "moralistic, preachy approach" and will set aside ideology and culture as issues in the region. He promised that the United States does not seek to encircle or change China, and will not act recklessly.

But the Defense Secretary also clearly identified Beijing as the biggest threat in the Indo-Pacific, speaking of a “shield of deterrence” and telling assembled Asian defense leaders that “China seeks to intimidate you in your own waters.”

Hegseth also asserted the United States is an Indo-Pacific power and will not leave the region. This is a reality that China needs to accept — America counts one state and several territories in the Pacific and is an integral part of its political geography. Hegeseth's assertion that Europe should focus on Europe (so that the United States can focus more on Asia) was a positive departure from past U.S. policy, which has tried to create an international coalition to counter China. Such an expansive coalition feeds into China’s worst fears of the world ganging up against it.

US military’s greatest challenge is here at home: How to solve the recruitment crisis

Mounting tensions with an ascendant China may require more, but a large and persistent budget deficit will constrain further spending. The United States now spends more to cover interest payments on the national debt than on defense.

Meanwhile, recruiters have struggled to find qualified candidates — in 2022 and 2023, most branches missed their quotas.

They’ve responded by lowering their entry standards. The Navy began accepting candidates who scored very low on the Armed Services Qualification Test in 2022, then last year stopped requiring recruits to have a high school diploma or GED.

The Army in 2022 relaxed its physical requirements to allow for more female and older soldiers — a policy Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently reversed in favor of uniform, sex-neutral standards for combat-arm roles.

Small wonder, then, that few are willing to serve — and that many of those with the desire lack the fitness and mental acuity necessary to succeed.

Media falls over itself to defend South African president who claimed genocidal chants were free speech

The propaganda press were quick to not only dismiss the genocidal chants, but to defend South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, who didn’t seem eager to confront and condemn the chants. Outlets dropped all pretense of objectivity to paint Ramaphosa as a measured statesman blindsided by Trump.

NPR’s Kate Bartlett wrote “South Africa’s president is praised for staying calm during Trump’s Oval Office ambush.” Bartlett praised Ramaphosa for keeping “his cool” and heralded him as “one of the key mediators in the talks that ended apartheid in 1994.”

The talking point was quickly spread amongst the propagandists, with Reuters’ Olivia Kumwenda-Mtambo and Alexander Winning writing: “Buffeted by Trump, South Africa’s Ramaphosa praised for keeping his cool.”

But perhaps it’s easy to “keep cool” when your government doesn’t appear to have any serious moral objection to openly genocidal rhetoric.

Resetting relations with Russia is more important to Trump than peace in Ukraine

The middle class is collapsing: Nearly 1 out of every 4 Americans is now “functionally unemployed”

There are lots of Americans out there who cannot pay the bills each month even though they have jobs.  In fact, there are lots of people out there that literally cannot afford to put a roof over their heads even though they are employed. Yes, there are many hard working Americans that are now living in their vehicles or in “tent communities” because that is all they can afford.  In recent years, the cost of living has been rising much faster than paychecks have, and so now a substantial percentage of the population is living in a state of constant financial stress.

The middle class has been collapsing, and we are witnessing an extraordinary amount of economic suffering all over the country right now. For years, the federal government has been telling that the unemployment rate in the U.S. is very low.

According to a report that was recently released by the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity, the true rate of unemployment in the U.S. was 24.3% last month. There are millions upon millions of Americans that are “functionally unemployed”.

The energy demand of U.S. data centers (2023-2030)

As the digital economy accelerates and generative AI becomes more deeply embedded in business and daily life, the physical infrastructure supporting these technologies is undergoing a transformative explosion.

Today, data centers account for roughly 4% of total U.S. electricity consumption. But by 2030, that share is projected to rise to 12%, driven by unprecedented growth in computing power, storage needs, and AI model training.

In absolute terms, U.S. data center energy demand is set to jump from 224 terawatt-hours in 2025 to 606 terawatt-hours in 2030.

Meeting this projected demand could require $500 billion in new data center infrastructure, along with a vast expansion of electricity generation, grid capacity, and water-cooling systems. Generative AI alone could require 50–60 GW of additional infrastructure.

This massive investment would also depend on upgrades in permitting, land use, and supply chain logistics. For example, the lead time to power new data centers in large markets such as Northern Virginia can exceed three years. In some cases, lead times for electrical equipment are two years or more.

‘Freedom under attack in the US,’ claims German minister

There was a growing risk of a global culture war amid rising anti-freedom tendencies among world powers, warned Wolfram Weimer, Germany’s Minister of State for Culture, singling out the US as a particular cause for concern.

In a speech at the Order Pour le Mérite for Science and the Arts event in Berlin on June 1, Weimer described an emerging “global culture war” that threatened the independence of science and the arts, not only in authoritarian states but increasingly within Western democracies.

“The United States in particular stands for an anti-freedom current,” Weimer said, claiming that repressive attitudes were beginning to take hold in places where freedom of thought was once a given.

Weimer argued that neo-nationalist ideologies were now also gaining traction in the US, exhibiting an underlying hostility to Enlightenment values of individual liberty, progress, tolerance, fraternity, constitutional government and separation of church and state.”

Leaked medical report ‘proves Imane Khelif is biological male’

Imane Khelif’s sex-test results from the 2023 World Championships have been published for the first time, with the medical report appearing to indicate that the boxer is biologically male.

The result of Khelif’s sex test results from the 2023 World Championships has been made public by Alan Abrahamson, the American journalist who disclosed in Paris how the International Olympic Committee had been warned more than a year earlier that Khelif had the DNA of a “male.”

The revelation comes less than two days after World Boxing ruled that Khelif would need to undergo sex screening to be eligible for any future appearances in the female category.

The document published on the 3 Wire Sports website summarises the findings on Khelif as “abnormal,” stating: “Chromosome analysis reveals male karyotype.” A karyotype denotes an individual’s complete set of chromosomes, which in Khelif’s case has been reported to be XY, the male pattern.

While the news does not really come as a surprise to anyone even moderately familiar with the saga, the test results should dispel any doubts as to the sex of Khelif. The results originate from Dr Lal Path Labs in New Delhi, accredited by the American College of Pathologists and certified by the Swiss-based International Organisation for Standardisation.

Netanyahu calls on Macron to confront French antisemitism

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded tougher action against antisemitism in France from President Emmanuel Macron after a series of vandalism attacks on Jewish sites in Paris over the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday, May 31st, three synagogues, a Jewish restaurant, and a Holocaust memorial in Paris were defaced with green paint. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau expressed his “immense disgust” over the attacks. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo also denounced the acts, calling them “intimidations” and declaring that “antisemitism has no place in our city and in our republic.”

On Sunday, Netanyahu wrote on X: “The attacks on synagogues and a Holocaust memorial in Paris are a direct result of the rampant incitement against Jews in France.” He went further, urging Macron to abandon his diplomatic push for Palestinian statehood and instead “start acting against antisemitism in his own country.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett says Democrats will subpoena Musk if they retake House

A House Democratic lawmaker said that if Democrats retake control of the House of Representatives, they will likely issue a subpoena to former Trump administration special government employee Elon Musk.

Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) told MSNBC that Democrats had “tried to subpoena Elon Musk before” but it was blocked by Republicans, who control the House and its committees.

“I think that unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait until the Democrats are in the majority—which will hopefully be in the midterms—and then we can absolutely bring Elon Musk in,” Crockett said.

Democrats, if they control the lower chamber, “can have him under oath, and we can have him tell us about everything that he did,” she added.

As he departed his Trump administration advisory position last week, Musk had spent 130 days as a special government employee. During his press conference with the president, both Trump and Musk indicated they were on good terms and that DOGE’s work would continue.

New COVID variant NB.1.8.1 starting to spread worldwide

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the COVID-19 variant NB.1.8.1 is causing more infections worldwide, as China’s health agency said it’s the dominant variant.

The new strain was named as a “variant under monitoring” by the UN health body last week, while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed a small number of cases were circulating in the United States.

WHO said in an update on May 28 that the variant is driving up cases in parts of the world and is currently spreading in Southeast Asia, the western Pacific regions, and the Mediterranean.

The variant LP.8.1 is currently the dominant version worldwide, according to WHO. But both LP.8.1. and NB.1.8.1 have not shown signs that they would cause an “increased public health risk” when “compared to other circulating variants,” the U.N. health body stated.

In a recent update, the Chinese CDC said that NB.1.8.1 makes up the majority of cases in China, while some Chinese doctors have gone on record in state-run media to say that one symptom that is being reported is a sharply painful sore throat.

Connecticut Democrats pass bill that will let illegal aliens sue cops, cities if anyone calls the feds on them

Last week, Connecticut House Democratic majority advanced legislation that will force municipalities to abide by the state’s so-called “Trust Act,” which permits “any aggrieved person” to seek an injunction against a municipality or its agents, including police and school employees, that cooperate with federal immigration officials.

The bill was revised after pro-illegal alien advocates argued that municipalities, i.e., police departments, can ignore the state law already in place that defines when police and others can alert federal agents to the location of an illegal alien or detain them for deportation.

While the bill, which (of course) passed on party lines 96-51 in the Democratically-controlled Connecticut State House, wouldn’t provide immediate recourse to illegal aliens detained after a municipal official (police officer) violated the Act, however an injunction would apply to future cases. If found in violation, the municipality would be forced to pay the plaintiff’s court costs and legal fees.

The only money left is for sabotage and terrorist attacks

This is roughly how one might describe the controversy surrounding the new strategic defense review for 2025, which is being drawn up by Keir Starmer's cabinet. London is trying to rework foreign policy priorities amid a budget crisis.

During the Conservative years, the concept of a “global Britain” was popular. It should compete on all fronts and be particularly active in the Indo-Pacific. Now, however, it has to tighten its belts because there is a 70 billion pound hole in the budget.

That's why it recently had to surrender the Chagos Islands to Mauritius. London is trying to improve relations with China to attract investment. Britain is not de facto involved in the US trade war with the Middle Kingdom. Now all the remaining forces have to be thrown into the European direction.

Labor can't really raise military spending. Even though they have announced an increase to 3% of GDP, but in 10-15 years. The size of the British army has been reduced to a record low since the XVIII century of 73 thousand soldiers. However, they can't even recruit them - the real number is still two thousand lower. Destroyers have to be scrapped because of a shortage of sailors. Stocks of artillery and missiles have been used up in Ukraine.

But there are “ingenious” plans to build 12 new submarines at once and buy more fighter jets from the Americans. Although even the assembly of 4 submarines of the next generation will cost 170 billion pounds, which is not in the budget. And F-35 orders from the U.S. are being reconsidered because of a severe shortage of money. But there's £1 billion for cyber-attacks and terrorist attacks. This is the last thing the British establishment is still capable of doing in the current crisis realities.

Elon Musk: Bono is a retard

Outgoing DOGE overseer Elon Musk has hit back at claims made by U2 singer Bono that 300,000 people have “already died” because of cuts made to USAID.

Appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the Irish singer declared “It’s not proven, but surveillance suggests 300,000 people have already died from this cut-off, this hard cut of USAID.”

“No American will be happy. There is 50,000 tons of food that are stored in Djibouti, South Africa, Dubai, and wait for it, Houston, Texas that is rotting,” he further claimed. “The people who know the codes at the warehouses are fired, they’re gone,” the singer also suggested.

Elon Musk responded to the comments, calling Bono a liar, an idiot and a retard.

China foments US migrant crisis with help from New York bigwigs

It has long been feared that America’s number one geopolitical foe is weaponizing the illegal immigration crisis to strengthen its already considerable foothold within the United States.

China is apparently doing so with the direct support of major Democrat political leaders in the fourth-most-populated state in the country, along with Big Philanthropy and Big Corporate money. This outside meddling highlights the glaring national security threat posed by the elaborate pro-illegal alien safety net constructed over the past 30-plus years.

According to Daily Caller News Foundation, numerous Chinese government-linked entities have bankrolled a nonprofit accused of offering tips on how to evade federal immigration authorities. The House Home Security Committee in April announced that it is investigating the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), a New York City-based NGO, “in response to a video reportedly showing employees … advising illegal aliens on how to evade apprehension by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

NPR is under the delusion it has a constitutional right to your money

Despite NPR’s claim that it ‘ensures the integrity and high standards of its journalism through multiple, rigorous safeguards,’ the outlet has a well-documented history of pushing a leftist agenda

NPR filed a delusional lawsuit on Tuesday against the Trump administration, arguing that it has a constitutional right to your hard-earned money. The suit, brought by NPR and three Colorado-based public radio stations, alleges that Trump’s executive order cutting federal funding to the left-wing NPR and PBS violates their right to free speech, as well as provisions of the Public Broadcasting Act.

“The Executive Order’s objectives could not be clearer: the Order aims to punish NPR for the content of news and other programming the President dislikes and chill the free exercise of First Amendment rights by NPR and individual public radios across the country,” the suit states.

But as Texas Rep. Brandon Gill countered in a post on X: “NPR has a right to free speech. It doesn’t have a right to our tax dollars.” Trump issued an executive order earlier this month directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to “cease federal funding” to NPR and PBS.

Dems mull $20 million plan to figure out why young men don't like them

The Democratic Party is turning to a new solution: spending $20 million to figure out why young men don’t like them.

Democratic leaders are scrambling to reassemble a coalition that used to be rock-solid: young voters, working-class Americans, Latinos, and Black voters all shifted toward Trump in 2024 - and this time, he won the popular vote, too.

"There is fear, there is anxiety, and there are very real questions about the path forward - all of which I share," said Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), who is charged with recruiting candidates to help win back the House in 2026. “We are losing support in vast swaths of the country.”

Even the long-standing gender gap, which typically favored Democrats, flipped in key districts as men swung harder to the right. It’s one of the driving reasons behind the $20 million SAM initiative.

Meanwhile, the party is facing open rebellion from within. Progressive activists are outraged at what they see as a lack of fight. Moderate Democrats are openly warning that cultural messaging - on issues like immigration, gender, and economic elitism - is alienating the very voters the party once claimed as its base.
