❌ US rejects ceasefire in Gaza at the UN
The US vetoed the UN Security Council's draft resolution, which called for an "unconditional and permanent" ceasefire in Gaza.

The delayed hearing concerns a request by the Malian government to appoint a provisional administrator for the Loulo-Gounkoto mining complex, which has been inactive since January.

The head of the village council said bodies of civilians retrieved from what remained of the village showed signs of torture and rape. Many had broken limbs and rib cages. Those who escaped the village said entire families had been killed by Ukrainian drones.
"At the time the villages of Russkoe Porechnoe and Cherkasskoe Porechnoe were liberated [in March 2025], out of 81 people who remained there 48 have died, 24 people remain missing… All in all, no one in the village of Russkoe Porechnoe survived," Elena Zhadanova, head of the Porechensky village council said during an international teleconference.

Modibo Sacko was elected on June 2 during an ordinary session of the court in Arusha, Tanzania, according to a press release from the judicial body. Algerian judge Bensaoula Chafika will join him as vice-president. Their term will span from 2025 to 2027.
