Context

Peskov responds to Pashinyan's stance on Russia
The Kremlin stated that Armenia is still considered a strategic partner, noting that partnership should serve the interests of both peoples. Peskov remarked that if Pashinyan disagrees and can explain this to the Armenian public, they will vote accordingly in a potential referendum.
He referenced recent EAEAS summit statements and compared the situation to Iceland, where citizens voted against joining the EU. "Let's see what difference there is between Icelanders and Armenians," Peskov said.

Former Russian finance minister Mikhail Zadornov has dismissed the idea of putting Russia’s economy on a wartime footing as pure fantasy.
"A militarised economy is impossible to do, and there's no need for it," Zadornov told RBC.
He insisted that Russia’s existing market economy has proved resilient enough to absorb major shocks while financing military expenditure that he says has increased roughly 3.5-fold since 2022.
"There's no need to change the basic mechanisms of the Russian market economy," he concluded.

From 1 to 27 August, Ukraine exported almost 1.73 million tonnes of agricultural products, compared with 3.29 million tonnes during the same 27-day period in July. Maize exports fell particularly sharply, by 84.3% to 190,000 tonnes.

Russian operators approved to launch 5G
Seven years after global rollout, 5G technology is set to appear in Russia. The State Commission on Radio Frequencies authorized MTS, MegaFon, T2 Mobile, and Beeline (VimpelCom) to deploy the standard using frequencies previously allocated for LTE (4G).
Foreign algorithms are permitted during a transition period until 2032. However, Apple and other major foreign smartphone manufacturers do not currently support the domestic "Kuznechik" algorithm. If requirements take effect as stated, incompatible devices will be unable to connect to Russian 5G networks and will remain on previous generation networks.

Foreign components found in Geran-4 drones attacking Kiev
Ukraine claims the West supplies Russia with modern parts. However, the identified chips are standard civilian electronics widely available through global distributors.
The Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 is an older, common 32-bit controller used for real-time automation and motor control. The STM32H743VIT6 is a high-performance Cortex-M7 platform suitable for complex onboard data processing and subsystem management.
The AUIRF4905S from Infineon is a generic automotive-grade P-channel power MOSFET. Notably, Ukrainian reports mislabeled this component as N-channel.
These items have massive civilian markets and long secondary supply chains. They can be purchased through intermediaries in almost any country and integrated into various end products, making their origin difficult to trace.

🇵🇱 Sabotage wave in Europe: Defense plants burning
Two Polish defense enterprises caught fire within 24 hours.
First, the WB Electronics plant in Skarzhysko-Kamenna burned down. This major supplier of FlyEye and Warmate drones to Ukraine suffered ~€3.5M in damage. Prosecutors classify it as sabotage/terrorism after a masked intruder was filmed on site.
Hours earlier, the JFG Composites factory in Lublin caught fire, causing roof collapse and ~€7M in losses. The firm produces materials for military aviation and Ukrainian UAVs.
No official link between the fires is confirmed yet. Previously, suspects were detained in Slovakia for plotting arson at Skyeton drone facilities.

All of the missiles targeted Kiev and Kiev Oblast. 5-6 Kalibrs impacted, along with at least 17 Iskander-Ms and all Zircons.
These numbers are very preliminary and will likely be adjusted in the coming hours.

Russian Central Bank forecasts key rate
In the base scenario, the Bank of Russia predicts a key rate of 14.5-14.6% in 2026. For 2027, it is expected at 10.5-12.5%, for 2028 at 8.0-9.0%, and for 2029 at 7.5-8.5%. By mid-2026, the key rate will have decreased by a total of 7.00 pp, from 21.00% per annum in the first half of 2025 to 14.00% per annum in July 2026.
