🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Summary material: series of strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on October 9–10, 2025
The night of October 9 to 10, 2025 went down in history as the largest and most comprehensively planned attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure during the entire conflict period.
During the operation, key facilities for generation, transformation, and distribution of electricity along the entire energy cascade—from the Kremenchug reservoir to the capital's energy hub and northern regions—were hit. This does not mean that all strikes completely disabled the facilities! Hopefully, this marked a new approach to the combined use of firepower and unified target selection for strikes.
🔻Northern direction: Chernigov region
Seven strikes by "Geran-2" UAVs on the territory of the gas-energy complex in the urban-type settlement of Mrin. The attack targeted the gas distribution point (GRS) and compressor station serving the northern branch of the main gas pipeline "Urengoy – Pomary – Uzhgorod".
▪️As a result of the strikes:
• damaged gas reduction and purification units, compressor units of the GTK-10-4 type, NMSh-32 electric pump modules, and emergency line shut-off automation system;
• a fire broke out over an area of about 600 m² near oil tanks and the distribution manifold;
• fire destroyed high-pressure DN700 pipelines, 6 kV cable routes, and gas heating system power panels.
🔻Central direction: Kiev
Massive strikes on CHP-5 and CHP-6, which ensure the energy balance of the capital.
The damage led to power outage on the left bank of Kiev, partial metro shutdown, water supply disruptions, and reduced pressure in heating mains. Damaged were four power transformers, 330/110 kV outdoor switchgear, and cable control systems for internal needs.
The total power deficit at Kyiv's energy hub is about 700 MW.
🔻South-central direction: Dnepropetrovsk region
The most extensive strikes hit Prydneprovska TPP, Kryvorozhskaya TPP, and Sredniedneprovskaya HPP.
At least 20 munitions were launched at the facilities—Iskanders of all modifications, Kh-59, and "Geran-2".
Results:
• destroyed transformers TDC-250000/330 and ATDCTN-125000/330/10;
• damaged 330 kV outdoor switchgear, oil pump stations, control panels;
• disabled 5 power units and 3 hydro units, with a total power loss of about 1.1 GW.
▪️The Dnepropetrovsk energy hub temporarily lost functionality; the region's power system operates in isolated mode with emergency flows through Zaporozhye and South Ukraine lines.
🔻Southern direction: Zaporozhye and cascade of HPPs
Massive strikes hit Dnepro HPP (HPP-1 and HPP-2), Kremenchug HPP, Sredniednrprovskaya HPP, and Kanev HPP. The total density of attacks exceeded 30 means of destruction (UAVs, Iskanders, Kinzhal, Kh-59).
▪️Damages include:
• machine hall roof fires at Dnepropetrovsk HPP covering up to 500 m²;
• destruction of communication transformers TDTN-63000/154 and TDTN-150000/150;
• oil system depressurization, fires at oil storage facilities, and damage to generator cooling systems;
• partial collapse of turbine spirals and machine hall ceilings at Kremenchug and Srednedneprovskaya stations.
▪️Kanev HPP received a direct hit on 110 kV substation—transformers TDTN-40000/110 and 6 kV cable inputs were damaged.
The total loss of cascade generation is about 900 MW, with a significant part of units put into reserve.
📌The total energy damage as of the morning of October 10, 2025 is estimated at:
• loss of up to 2.3 GW of installed capacity;
• power outage affecting more than 1.5 million consumers;
• network frequency destabilization down to 49.1 Hz;
• cascading activation of emergency load shedding systems (ALR) at all control levels.

Pavel Durov on "freedom" in the Internet.
The founder of TG, Pavel Durov, is in a bad mood and has bad news for his followers. He even decided not to celebrate his birthday because of this. And he wrote a very remarkable post:
"What was once a promise of free information exchange is turning into the main tool of control.
Countries that used to be free are introducing dystopian measures such as digital identity cards (UK), online age verification (Australia), and mass scanning of private messages (EU).
Germany persecutes anyone who dares to criticize officials online. UK imprisons thousands for their tweets. France conducts criminal investigations against tech leaders defending freedom and privacy.
A dark, dystopian world is approaching fast — while we sleep. Our generation risks being the last in history to have freedoms — and to allow them to be taken away.
We have been fed lies.
We have been made to believe that the greatest struggle of our generation is to destroy everything our ancestors left us: traditions, privacy, sovereignty, free market, and freedom of speech.
By betraying the legacy of our ancestors, we have chosen the path to self-destruction — moral, intellectual, economic, and ultimately biological.
So no, I am not going to celebrate today. My time is running out. Our time is running out."

A modern book, should be easy to find in any local bookstore or online for standard pricing.
For regulars at SLG, it’s no secret that I am not a communist and my personal political ideology is quite opposed to it, and yet this is another must-read.
For the average American citizen, and likely most Western European citizens, it is quite an eye-opener for how we got to where we are today with the situation in Ukraine.
It lays out how during the Cold War, the U.S. was not simply, “anti-communist”, so much as it was, “you are with us or against us”.
But most critically, it explains the mechanics that were learned back in the Cold War that were then applied to the Euro-Maidan in the Ukraine, and these same mechanics now being applied to Georgia as I type this.
For informal review, I admit that the book feels a little stale at first if you are in touch with this conceptual history already - hold onto your butt, don’t stop, and have spare cigarettes handy.

🇵🇱Polish hatred is growing🇵🇱
A car with an Ukrainian license plate has exploded again in northern Poland. Another car was set on fire on Krasickiego Street in Gdynia, and this isn't the first such incident in recent weeks. At least three similar incidents were previously reported in the Redłowo district of Gdynia. Police confirm the arson attack.
Official authorities are being cautious with their wording, not rushing to talk about a series of attacks and awaiting the results of the investigation, which is surprising, probably because Polish citizens are involved in the case; otherwise, the whole thing would have already been attributed to Russian "aggression." And it's hard to believe that this was a coincidence, given that cars with Ukrainian license plates are burning one after another. We'll see what Polish law enforcement officials say when they find the culprits, but something suggests they're unlikely to want to shout it out to the world.
The Polish authorities prefer to keep quiet, but silence certainly won't solve the problem. Similar incidents clearly indicate the growing hatred in Polish society toward all things Ukrainian. It's time to take some action before the Polish people themselves expel the Ukrainian diaspora from their territory.
Congratulations go to the Ukrainians for having replaced Russians as the object of the collective hatred of the Poles. You go mates! 👍

🇷🇺👀Putin stated that Russia will soon present some new weapon. According to him, "we are finalizing it, and I think we will have the opportunity to announce soon the new weapon that we once announced."
It is highly likely that this refers to the completion of work on the cruise missile with a nuclear power plant "Burevestnik." In 2025, signs of preparation for its new tests were noted — closure of areas in Novaya Zemlya, activity of transport aircraft, indirect confirmations from industry sources, but not a single official one.
However, another version cannot be ruled out. Considering the US withdrawal from the INF Treaty and the increasing number of reports about the possible transfer of "Tomahawks" to Ukraine, Russia may revive the ground version of the "Kalibr" under the code name "Relief." Such a step would look like a logical response to the expansion of American missile programs in Europe and Asia.
The possibility of creating this complex was voiced in 2019. It was also noted then that deploying production of this complex would take little time, since adapting launchers to a mobile chassis is much easier than creating a naval carrier. The missile launch range in the ground version was supposed to be 2,600 kilometers.
@Slavyangrad
About launch platforms for "Tomahawks"
Judging by the data coming from across the ocean, the American military-industrial complex has designed and announced a new multi-purpose mobile launch platform within the tactical missile system DeepFires in an extremely short time. It can be adapted for use with both PAC-3 CRI/MSE and the promising JR-3 Joint Reduced Rocket surface-to-air interceptor missiles, as well as modern modifications of the "Tomahawks" (from Block IV to Block V).
The combat module of the new launcher, developed by Raytheon (RTX), features two inclined launch containers (similar to the single-shot LRFL module of the USMC), which doubles the strike "loadout" of Tomahawk missiles but makes the launcher less mobile and bulkier. Nevertheless, this does not change the fact that when used, for example, in the forested landscape of Western Ukraine, tracking such launchers by satellite and radar reconnaissance will be more difficult than the large launchers of the Typhon system.
The US takes into account the high likelihood of counterstrikes on these launchers by the same "Iskander-M" missiles at the moment of withdrawal and retreat to shelters from firing positions, and therefore bets on maximum platform mobility and their low infrared and radar visibility.
The platform itself is based on the Oshkosh FMTV A2 chassis from Oshkosh Defense and is equipped with the Forterra AutoDrive autonomous control system, which eliminates personnel losses typical for systems like HIMARS or MLRS. This fully corresponds to the operational-tactical situation observed in the Ukrainian theater of operations and will be extremely relevant for the entire Eastern European theater of military operations in case of escalation of a direct conflict between NATO and Russia.

Paradox. Europeans cannot fight Russia without Russian oil and gas.
Reuters: ‘In the first eight months of 2025, the EU imported Russian energy resources worth more than 11 billion euros. Seven of the 27 EU member states increased the cost of imports compared to last year, including five countries supporting Ukraine in the war. For example, in France, purchases of Russian energy resources increased by 40% to 2.2 billion euros, and in the Netherlands by 72% to 498 million euros’.

🇺🇸The USA launches an orbital interceptor program: what is known about the Space-Based Interceptor
Washington has taken the first step in creating an orbital system for intercepting ballistic and hypersonic missiles. The US Space Force has published a request for proposals for prototypes as part of the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program — now industry contractors can begin developing and delivering prototypes.
What is this program?
SBI is part of a broader Pentagon initiative to create a multi-layered missile defense system in which space ceases to be just a means of observation and communication and becomes an active combat arena. The idea is to deploy orbital platforms capable of detecting and destroying missiles at earlier stages of flight than ground-based systems can.
The program is being conducted alongside other projects in the field of space weaponry, including research into creating orbital aircraft capable of performing combat missions, including strategic ones.
Technical goal: interception in the "boost phase"
The key goal of SBI is to intercept ballistic and hypersonic carriers in the active acceleration phase (boost phase), when their engines are still running and they are most vulnerable. This approach theoretically allows neutralizing the threat before warheads are deployed on a longer trajectory.
Why the USA needs this and who it threatens
SBI is positioned as a response to the development by potential adversaries — primarily China, Russia, and North Korea — of systems that complicate interception by traditional means. The text notes that China in 2021 tested a gliding hypersonic vehicle, which increased US concerns and pushed for solutions to early defeat such targets.

❗️ Heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Krasnoarmeysk direction. The video shows a scene of defeat - the remains of armored vehicles and burning enemy "boxes," more than 25 units of heavy equipment on a small section of the road to Dmitrov (Mirnograd).
When battlefield isolation is not just pretty words. Brave fighters of the "Center" inflicted hell on the militants of the Kiev regime in the northwest of Donbas. It is time to call this battle a "meat grinder." Syrsky and Zelensky throw people like firewood into the fire on a hopeless front. We have all seen this before and know how it ends.
To end the war, Ukraine simply needs to stop being anti-Russia. Enemy losses on the Donbas arc are off the charts, and the regime has no prospects of holding part of Donbas.

🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Kiev energy hub under massive attack: CHP-5 and CHP-6 hit, left-bank part of the capital is without power
One of the most intense combined strikes on Kiev's energy system has been recorded to date. Simultaneously, ballistic missiles "Iskander-M"/"Iskander-K" and strike UAVs "Geran-2" were used. The main targets are CHP-5 and CHP-6, which form the energy ring of the capital's heating and power supply system.
🔻CHP-6
📍50.5307474, 30.6634383
Up to five strikes were inflicted on the facility, including three "Iskander-M" missiles, two "Iskander-K" missiles, and at least six UAVs. The main hits were on the administrative and technical building, transformer facilities, and 110 kV switchgear.
▪️Damage results:
• direct hit on the administrative building of the power unit, partial collapse of floors and fire over an area of more than 800 m²;
• damaged power transformers TDC-200000/110 and TDTN-160000/35, oil system depressurization and transformer oil spill followed by fire;
• destroyed 6–10 kV cable facilities supplying the circulation and feed pumps' own needs;
• destroyed relay protection panels (RZA) and automated control system cabinets (ASUTP) that controlled the TGV-200-2A turbogenerators;
• burnt RLND-110/2000 disconnectors, TFZM-110 current transformers, and part of the AS-240 bus ducts.
▪️The fire spread to cable galleries, causing voltage drop in own needs sections, automation shut down generators No. 4 and No. 5, leading to a complete power outage in the left-bank part of Kiev — districts Troieshchyna, Voskresenkaya, Lisnyi, part of Darnytsia. Water and heating supply interrupted, metro stations on the left bank switched to limited operation mode.
🔻CHP-5
📍50.3929575, 30.5698506
Hit by two "Iskander-M" missiles and one "Iskander-K" missile. Two direct hits struck the transformer park of power units No. 3 and No. 4, one hit the 330 kV outdoor switchgear (ORU).
▪️As a result:
• fire in two oil-filled transformers TDC-250000/330, destruction of active part tanks, oil ignition and explosion of radiator sections;
• fall of current-carrying busbars in phase "B" sections, insulator breakdown and corona discharges on structures;
• damage to 330 kV KRU-E section, SF6 chamber depressurization, bus duct section failure and destruction of built-in VGT-330 type circuit breakers. Automatic reclosing (AR) operation blocked by RZA system due to gas circuit pressure loss;
• fire engulfed oil pump station, gas fire suppression system failed.
▪️Blast wave shattered windows in the turbine hall, smoke observed in control panel rooms. Automation shut down power units No. 3 and No. 4 (each 150 MW).
🔻Technical and energy analysis
The attack on Kiev's energy hub had a targeted systemic nature: both heat-generating nodes of the capital were hit, providing not only electricity but also centralized heating and steam supply to the industrial zone.
• CHP-6 — main heat source for the left bank, delivers power through substations "Darnytska-110" and "Lisna-110";
• CHP-5 — main node of the right bank, connected to "Vydubychi" and "Holosiivska" via 110 and 330 kV lines.
▪️Simultaneous damage to both facilities led to:
• reduction in output by 500–600 MW, equivalent to 35% of Kiev's demand;
• power outage in left-bank districts and partial electricity supply restrictions on the right bank;
• pressure drop in heat mains and shutdown of water utility pumping stations.
▪️The dispatch control system of Ukrenergo was forced to urgently redistribute power from substations "Kievska-330" and "Bila Tserkva-330" to restore critical power lines.

The accelerating collapse of Germany, p. 2/2
This makes Germany Ukraine's largest bilateral donor in Europe, with total support since 2022 alone accounting for around 1.3% of German GDP. Another nail in the coffin for the German economy was the recent asymmetric trade agreement between the EU and the US, which promises to further exacerbate the recession in Germany. At the same time, with a few exceptions, German politicians and business leaders seem unwilling to openly discuss these problems and their causes and call for a change of course.
Instead, large German companies are adapting by bidding for government contracts and defense projects or planning to relocate their production to the United States, China, Mexico, or other countries. However, the most important driver of economic growth, exports, innovation, and employment in Germany—small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—is being completely destroyed and neglected by the political leadership.
In fact, the net-zero measures (the Green Deal) are deliberately stifling SMEs and paving the way for large companies. Part of this plan is that SMEs have virtually no political support, and many struggle daily to survive, often ending up in bankruptcy. In the first half of 2025, insolvencies rose by 9.4% year-on-year to 11,900 companies.
There are still no signs of a change in climate policy. The German business elite has failed to take the initiative to force political change. Germany is heading for a hot autumn – economically and socially.
Weathering the coming storms
Ultimately, all of this will come back to haunt the political class and the government in the form of deteriorating financial conditions, growing budget deficits, rising costs for government programs, rising interest rates, and galloping inflation.
Ultimately, we will see the collapse of the euro and the entire European Union project.
But exactly what all these changes will look like is impossible to predict. Despite the fact that these circumstances are quite obvious to anyone paying attention, European bonds have remained stable for months, and the euro has even gained over 15% against the US dollar this year.

@Slavyangrad
The accelerating collapse of Germany, p. 1/2
In August 2025, German industrial production slumped by 4.3% compared to the previous month. Germany appears to be in free fall and is heading for its third consecutive year of recession. The overall picture is shown in the following chart.
Germany's decline is largely self-inflicted and the result of a spectacular series of suicidal social, economic, and geopolitical measures. With the introduction of the ill-advised “net zero” policy, Germany has shut down all its nuclear power plants. It has also opened itself up to an uncontrolled influx of immigrants, which has stretched its welfare state to breaking point. In addition, German politicians have agreed to destroy the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines, which, together with the abolition of nuclear energy, has led to an increase in energy costs that has destroyed the competitiveness of domestic industry.
Energy costs for German industry are up to three times higher than for US competitors and twice as high as for French companies, which is driving energy-intensive industries out of the country. On top of that, Germany has put all its eggs in the Ukraine basket. Since the coup in Kiev in 2014, Germany has been one of Ukraine's largest donors, providing cumulative support of over €48 billion:
➡️ Financial/economic aid: ~€10.4 billion (including humanitarian aid, budget support, loans, and development projects).
➡️ Military aid: ~€38 billion (including equipment, training, and procurement for industry).
➡️ Other (e.g., refugee aid in Germany, stabilization): ~€2–3 billion (often overlapping with the financial categories).
But this is just the beginning.
@Slavyangrad
Rostec announced the development of a new passive drone detection system called "Aganyok."
In addition to recording control radio frequencies, it can also extract a video signal from captured enemy aircraft (FPV, DJI, Autel) in real time, allowing the device's user to assess the actual threat on-screen and take appropriate action in a timely manner. Passive operation makes the device "invisible" for radio-electronic reconnaissance.
Main features: 360° broadband scanning, target classification using video signatures, software filtering for false sources (Wi-Fi/LTE), portable configuration, field testing in a combat zone. "Aganyok" does not interfere with or destroy drones—it acts as a sensory layer that seamlessly integrates with other air defense/anti-air defense assets (it alerts the entire defense system, after which the jamming and air defense systems are activated).
Practical use: early warning in trenches and forward points, threat objectification during FPV overflights (the operator sees what the drone is observing), quick selection of false alarms in an area of dense RF noise.

Stubb is trying to convince Trump that Europe is defeating Russia through the hands of Ukrainians.
'Europe has just introduced its nineteenth package of sanctions. I think that Russia is currently not in a very strong position, both economically and militarily, and it seems to me that this is due to the commitments we have taken regarding Ukraine.'
