📜 Il est utile que nous cherchions une chose : rester avec Jésus. Riche est celui qui demeure avec Jésus, même s'il est pauvre matériellement.

The day of the finding of the relics of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh
Bartholomew Kirillovich
(May 14, 1314–September 25, 1392) was a Russian spiritual leader and monastic reformer.
He was the founder of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius near Moscow, what is now the most venerated monastic house in Russia.
According to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, faith is the foundation of all good deeds and intentions.
Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
However, the Orthodox faith, based on the teachings of the apostles and fathers, is free from the arrogance that often leads to lack of faith and disbelief, and can lead people astray from the path of salvation.
We will be saved by love and unity.

Saint Seraphim of Sarov
(30 July [O.S. 19 July] 1754 or 1759 – 14 January [O.S. 2 January] 1833)
Born Prókhor Isídorovich Moshnín (Mashnín) - one of the most renowned Russian saints.
He taught that the purpose of the Christian life was to receive the Holy Spirit.
The true aim of our Christian life consists in the acquisition of the Holy Spirit of God.
As for fasts, and vigils, and prayer, and almsgiving, and every good deed done for Christ's sake, they are only means of acquiring the Holy Spirit of God.
Whatever you do, do it gently and unhurriedly, because virtue is not a pear to be eaten in one bite.

Saint Varsonofiy of Optina (Plikhankov)
Pavel Ivanovich Plikhankov
(July 5 (17), 1845, Samara — April 1 (14), 1913, Kolomna, Moscow province) - priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, preacher, spiritual writer, one of the venerable elders of the Optina Hermitage.
There is no full joy in this life, where we see God only as it were through a dim glass (1Cor.13:12).
This joy will come in the next life, when we see the Lord face to face. Not everyone will see God in the same way, but according to each person's capacity, just as the vision of the Seraphim differs from that of ordinary angels.
One thing is certain: those who have not seen Christ in this life will not see Him in the next.
The ability to see God is achieved by working on oneself in this life.
St. Innocent Archbishop of Kherson and Taurida
Ivan Alekseevich Borisov (December 15,1800, Yelets — May 26, 1857, Odessa) famous Russian theologian and church speaker, talented preacher, writer and exegete.
Undoubtedly, the word of the “Russian Chrysostom,” the Archbishop of Kherson, can captivate and warm the hearts of our contemporaries.
The origin of a human being seems to be one of the most random phenomenons.
To be born at this or that time, in this or that country, from noble or poor parents, with great or small abilities, all these and many other circumstances of a human being’s birth are beyond human comprehension and constitute the mystery of our existence on earth.

Day of the Glorious and All-Praised Primitive Apostles Peter and Paul
We have reached the feast of the glorious and all-praised and first-ranked Apostles Peter and Paul. They are duly honored by the entire universe. It is worthy of praise, for they rejected themselves and laid down their lives for the sake of Christ Jesus, our Lord, and for the salvation of human souls. They renounced all the beauties and pleasures of the world, and by their teachings they enlightened the entire world, which was darkened by idolatry and various passions. They brought many souls to Christ, thus saving them from eternal destruction and leading them into the Kingdom of Heaven.Saint Righteous John of Kronstadt
Oh, let us, brethren, be firm in our faith and love for Christ until our last breath, and at our last breath let us surrender our spirit into the hands of Him who is the Life of our eternity. Amen.

Elder Silouan of Athos
Semyon Ivanovich Antonov (January 17, 1866, village of Shovskoye, Tambov province — September 11 [24], 1938, Athos, Greece) was a monk, asceticized on Mount Athos.
Silouan of Athos is famous for his example of humility and spiritual experience.
No matter how much we may study, it is not possible to come to know God unless we live
according to His commandments, for God is not known by science, but by the Holy Spirit.
Many philosophers and learned men came to the belief that God exists, but they did not
know God. It is one thing to believe that God exists and another to know Him. If someone
has come to know God by the Holy Spirit, his soul will burn with love for God day and night,
and his soul cannot be bound to any earthly thing.
Commemoration of the Holy Royal Martyrs on
July 4/17
Perhaps Russia needs a sacrificial victim to save it. I will be that victim.
I am responsible, and therefore I want to be free to make my own choices.
I believe in the honest feelings of the working people and in their unwavering loyalty to me, and therefore I forgive their guilt.

Saint Germain d'Alaska
His name before monasticism was Yegor Ivanovich Popov.
(1756, Serpukhov or Voronezh Governorate, Russia - November 15, 1837, Spruce Island, Russian Alaska).
Russian Orthodox monk and missionary to Alaska, which was then part of Russian America.
He is considered by many Orthodox Christians to be the saint patron of America.
The Elder took special care for the moral improvement of the Aleuts.
And I, a sinner, have been trying to love God for more than forty years, and cannot say that I perfectly love Him. If we love someone we always remember him and try to please him; day and night our heart is occupied with that object.
Is that how you, gentlemen, love God? Do you often turn to Him, do you always remember Him, do you always pray to Him and fulfill His holy commandments? For our good, for our happiness at least let us make a vow that from this day, from this hour, from this minute we shall strive to love God above all else and to fulfill His holy will.
St.Tikhon of Zadonsk
Timofey Savelyevich Sokolov (1724, Novgorod region –1783, Zadonskiy Nativity Virgin Monastery). Russian Orthodox bishop and spiritual writer whom the Eastern Orthodox Church glorified (canonized) as a saint in 1861.
He forbade corporal punishment of the clergy, cared about education, opened many schools.
To look upon another-his weaknesses, his sins, his faults, his defects is to look upon one who is suffering. He is suffering from negative passions, from the same sinful human corruption from which you yourself suffer. This is very important: do not look upon him with judgmental eyes of comparison, noting the sins you assume you'd never commit. Rather, see him as a fellow sufferer, a fellow human being who is in need of the very healing of which you are in need. Help him, love him, pray for him do unto him as you would have him do unto you.
Saint Macarius of Optina, venerable
Mikhail Nikolaevich Ivanov (November 20 (December3), Dmitrov district, Oryol viceroyalty, 1788 – September 7 (20), 1860, Optina Hermitage) a clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church and a venerable Optina elder.
Do not allow the spark of discord and enmity to smolder. The longer you wait, the more the enemy tries to cause confusion among you.
Be watchful, so that he does not mock you.
Humility destroys all of his schemes.

Try to understand all your deeds in this way... as if they were directly assigned to you by the Lord Himself...
Through this, while doing, your thoughts will be with the Lord... And this is what is required, that is, to walk in the presence of God.
