Share your warmth and light with those around you; try to begin with your family and work on that. Soon this work will entice you so much that your family circle will become too narrow for you. Then the halo of your warm rays will gradually grow, illuminating more and more people; so try to keep your lamp burning bright.
Alexander Vasilievich Mileant (+2005) bishop of Buenos Aires of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad.
Bishop Alexander is well known for his missionary leaflets. From 1985 to 2005 Bishop Alexander published a total of 763 brochures: 300 in Russian, 192 in English, 168 in Spanish and 103 in Portuguese.
The word Gospel means good message or news. This name designates the first four books of the New Testament which narrate the life and teachings of the incarnate Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ – all He did to establish a virtuous way of life on earth and to save sinful mankind.
The more we read the Gospels, the stronger our faith becomes and the more clearly we see the purpose of our earthly existence. Also as we acquire more experience in spiritual matters, we begin to perceive more obviously the nearness of our Savior. Then He truly becomes our Good Shepherd Who leads us toward salvation.
Indeed, while all other books contain the opinions of mere mortals, the Gospels reveal to us the eternal.

Metropolitan Isidore
Yakov Sergeevich Nikolsky

Begin and end each day with prayer. This is joy and life for the soul. Look at a candle: the fire always strives upward, not downward; the wind may shake it, tilt it to the side, but it will turn upward again. So the soul always strives for God: this is its prayer. The corrupting breath of the vain world may disturb it, lead it astray, but in silence it again turns to heaven. Fortunately for you!

Hieroschemamonk Macarius of Optina, venerable
Mikhail Nikolaevich Ivanov (November 20 (December3), Dmitrov district, Oryol viceroyalty, 1788 – September 7 (20), 1860, Optina Hermitage) a clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church and a venerable Optina elder.
When you do not have much time for prayer, be content with what you have, and God will accept your will; remember that the publican's feeling is pleasing to God in prayer, and be careful not to put a price on your prayer: this is God's work, not ours.
In your present vain time, if you happen to fail to fulfill the rule, do not be embarrassed, but replace it with humility.

Saint Tikhone de Zadonsk
secular name Timofey Savelyevich Sokolov (1724, Novgorod region – 1783, Zadonskiy Nativity Virgin Monastery).
Russian Orthodox bishop and spiritual writer whom the Eastern Orthodox Church glorified (canonized) as a saint in 1861.
While standing in church attend diligently to the reading and singing. This gives birth to compunction, true prayer, heartfelt singing and thanksgiving.
Avoid, then, standing bodily in church while wandering outside the church in mind, and standing bodily before God while wandering about in spirit in worldly affairs, lest that saying be applied to you, “his people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me” (Mt. 15:8).

Georgy Nikolayevich Voznesensky (22 March 1903 Kursk, Russia – 21 November 1985, New York City, USA) the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
The spiritual legacy of Metropolitan Philaret includes sermons, talks, teachings and “A Summary of Moral Theology"
Orthodox Christianity cannot limit its concept of the truly beautiful only to what pleases our sense of beauty by the elegance of its form, but must see as truly beautiful all that is morally valuable. True beauty always elevates, ennobles, enlightens man's soul and sets before it the ideals of truth and good. An Orthodox Christian never acknowledges as beautiful that phenomenon or work of art, which even though it be of perfect execution, does not purify and enlighten man's soul but rather debases and soils it.

St. Ambrose of Optina
Experience, confirmed by centuries, shows that the sign of the cross has great power over all human actions throughout the entire course of his life. Therefore, it is necessary to take care to instill in children the custom of protecting themselves with the sign of the cross more often, and especially before eating and drinking, going to bed and getting up, before leaving, before going out and before entering somewhere, and so that children make the sign of the cross not carelessly or in a fashionable way, but with precision, starting from the forehead to the chest and on both shoulders, so that the cross comes out correctly.🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
