Consistency before intensity.

Start small and become the kind of person who shows up every day. Build a new identity.

Then increase the intensity.

"Sometimes, carrying on, just carrying on, is the superhuman achievement." (Albert Camus).

I no longer judge someone by how fast he moves, as I have no clue how heavy the load on his back is. Sometimes, getting in step with them is the best way to keep them going. I am blessed to be surrounded by superhumans. - by Tan Siok-Hoon, Managing Director at J.P. Morgan

Part 6: A Final Thought on Laziness

If someone calls you lazy because you’re conserving energy to produce great work, that’s fine. But if you're choosing laziness just to do less, that’s a different story. Aim to be productive with your time and energy, not just “busy.”

Part 4: High Achievers and the Number of Hours They Work

Take a look at high achievers’ actual work hours:

Messi: 800+ goals, World Cup, Champions League.

Darwin: 150+ papers, 20+ books.

Einstein: Groundbreaking scientific papers.

Newton: Invented calculus and laid the groundwork for physics.

They didn't obsess over how many hours they worked; they focused on making those hours count.

Messi's "Lazy" Walk — A Strategy

A few years ago, a viral theory about Lionel Messi’s playing style emerged: his tendency to walk during soccer matches isn’t laziness, but a strategic move. It turns out this theory is true. Messi conserves energy and waits for the right moments to strike — and it’s led to record-breaking success.

Sometimes, doing less can lead to more impactful results.

Two simple rules:

1. You get better at what you practice.
2. Everything is practice.

Look around and you may be surprised by what people are “practicing" each day. If you consider each moment a repetition, what are most people training for all day long?

Many people are practicing getting mad on social media. Others are practicing the fine art of noticing how they have been wronged. Still more have mastered the craft of making plans (but never following through).

But, of course, it doesn't have to be that way.

What are you practicing?

“how do i start?”

by starting, my friend.

- advice is not starting
- information is not starting
- motivation is not starting

if you don’t know how to do something, the only way you can learn how to do it is by doing it.

one step, then the next

Part 7: Food for Thought: High Impact Work

Prolific individuals like Isaac Newton and J. Robert Oppenheimer didn’t focus on working long hours. They focused on what truly mattered and produced groundbreaking work that changed history.

What’s your strategy for impactful work?

Part 5: The Two Types of Laziness

Here’s the key: there are two types of laziness:

1. Laziness as a byproduct of great work (e.g., Messi, Darwin, Einstein).

2. Laziness in the pursuit of doing less.

History shows that the most prolific individuals choose the former — they’re lazy when it helps them focus on what matters, not when they’re simply avoiding work.

Part 3: The 9-to-5 Myth — Should We Work Less?

The idea that we should be working fewer hours is widely discussed, but the truth is most people already work less than the 9-to-5 suggests. Studies show that the average person works about 4 hours a day. The real question isn’t how many hours we work, but how effective we are during those hours.

Remember, it's not about working less; it’s about working smarter.

The Myth of Laziness Among High Achievers 2/n

High achievers like Charles Darwin, Winston Churchill, and Albert Einstein are often considered "lazy" because they didn’t work as much as expected. Darwin worked just 4 hours a day, Churchill took afternoon naps, and Einstein wasn’t interested in traditional schoolwork.

The lesson here isn’t to work less but to focus on getting great work done — not necessarily by working long hours.

On Fear by Khalil Gibran

It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.

She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.

And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.

But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.

Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.

The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.

YOU MUST LEAN IN TO BIZARRE BEHAVIOUR

When you don’t understand, lean in more. When it challenges your intelligence, lean in more. When it makes you feel stupid, lean in more. Leaning out will leave you behind. Don’t block people that you don’t agree with, follow more of them. Don’t run from ideas that make you uncomfortable, run towards them.

Taking no risks will be your biggest risk.
You have to risk failure to succeed.
You have to risk heartbreak to love.
You have to risk criticism for the applause.
You have to risk the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary.

If you live avoiding risk, you’re risking missing out on life.
