— Why George Simion and AUR failed where other right-wingers succeeded
We would like to share with you, dear reader, our thoughts on AUR and George Simion's electoral performances these past 6 months, from the cancelled 2024 elections to the parliamentary elections and the May 2025 presidential elections.
Due to Telegram's space constraints and the expansive topic, this couldn't have been made into a single Telegram post, so we've written an article:
In short, George Simion's 46% score came from the popular wave of anger at the establishment cancelling the previous presidential elections. Simion himself was rejected as the face of the Conservative side of politics in November 2024 when Călin Georgescu won a million more votes than Simion got. If Simion wants to keep this popularity, he must carry out a bunch of reforms inside AUR and rethink his political strategy otherwise he will fall back into irrelevancy as quick as he rose out of it.

🇷🇴🗳⚡️ Călin Georgescu announced a few hours ago that he is withdrawing from politics for the foreseeable future considering that his purpose has been fulfilled.
He noted that he may come back to politics if a new opportunity to make change arises whenever that may be.

🇷🇴❌🇷🇴 The Senate of Romania just approved a law which makes the consequences of "creating a fascist or legionary group or organization" even harsher.
All senators from PSD, PNL, UDMR and USR voted in favour of this law.
Only 2 senators from AUR voted against, while 23 others restrained their vote. All 8 senators from SOS and ex-POT senators voted against the law.
The law was proposed to the Chamber of Deputies by Silviu Vexler, part of the Jewish Minority Group in the Parliament.

Each march happening exactly one day before a Christian Orthodox holiday, first march being on the 28th of May, right before the Ascension of the Lord, and the second march being on the 7th of June, right before the Pentecost.
We voted our way to this...

🇪🇺📉⚡️ — 🇬🇧📰 The Spectator | The EU’s power is waning. If only Starmer could see it
(...) As Starmer welcomed Brussels’ top brass to London, the Europhile French newspaper Le Figaro published a bleak critique of the EU. This, incidentally, is the newspaper that, above all others in France, has been the most hostile to Brexit. A week after the referendum vote in 2016, Le Figaro called it an ‘historic error’. The paper quoted the French banker David de Rothschild, who expressed his bafflement that anyone would want to leave an EU that ‘is improving in terms of growth, employment and investment’.
Nine years later and Le Figaro hasn’t got quite the same confidence in Brussels. In an op-ed entitled ‘The EU is a hostage to its bureaucracy’, the paper lamented that the bloc refuses ‘to take the initiatives that would relaunch European capitalism’. As a consequence, Europe has ‘ruined its agriculture and industry’ and is no longer capable of competing with America and China.
The facts and figures the paper lists are damning. European industry has shrunk on the world market from 22.5 per cent to 14 per cent since 2000. Steel production in the world market has, meanwhile, fallen from 7 per cent to 4 per cent. Chemicals production has fallen by almost 15 per cent since 2020. The number of automobiles manufactured in the EU has plummeted from 18.7 to 14 million since 2017. Three million farms have disappeared since 2015. Energy prices in Europe are four times higher than in Asia and five times higher than in the US.
Le Figaro’s grim assessment of the EU’s diminishing clout was reminiscent of the warning sounded last September by Mario Draghi. A former Italian prime minister and the president of the European Central Bank between 2011 and 2019, Draghi couldn’t hide his fear for the bloc’s future.
He laid it out in a 400-page report on competitiveness commissioned by the EU. ‘For the first time since the Cold War, we must genuinely fear for our self-preservation,’ he stated. Europe was stagnating. It needed less bureaucracy and more investment. If not, said Draghi.
We will not be able to become, at once, a leader in new technologies, a beacon of climate responsibility and an independent player on the world stage. We will not be able to finance our social model. We will have to scale back some, if not all, of our ambitions.
The EU has not been galvanised by Draghi’s alarm bell. The latest forecasts from the European Commission, released as Starmer met von der Leyen, reveal that the economy is still dire. As a result, the Commission has revised its growth projections downward and now predicts GDP growth of 0.9 per cent in 2025 – and not the 1.5 per cent forecast last November.
If the EU has failed to rise to the economic challenge of the last decade, the same is true of immigration. I predicted last month that Europe’s annual migrant crisis is just getting started, and so it has proved. The number of migrants crossing the Mediterranean (predominantly Bangladeshis, Afghans and Malians) into Italy in April was up 40 per cent on the same month in 2024. In the last week of April, nearly 1,300 migrants reached the Italian island of Lampedusa; in the same week in 2024 it was 106.
This is deeply embarrassing for the EU, and also Giorgia Meloni, who has cultivated a reputation since coming to power as the ‘iron lady of immigration’. If this continues, she may soon be likened to Boris Johnson in a blouse. Why are so many migrants still crossing the Mediterranean? Didn’t the EU hand over huge piles of cash to Egypt, Tunisia and Libya in the expectation that they would stem the flow?
It is because these countries see what Keir Starmer doesn’t. That the EU is weak and ineffectual, and not to be taken that seriously. That’s the view of the Trump administration. Even Mario Draghi admits he has ‘nightmares’ about the state of its economy. Anyone who thinks the EU is on the up is living in dreamland.
🇷🇴🇨🇩🇷🇼 The Romanian MoD categorically denies the allegations that it trained or leased members of its special forces to the Romanian private military contractors (PMCs) fighting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
"(...) We reiterate what we have told the journalists previously through our press bureau that (...) upon reviewing our employed personnel, there isn't a single case of an active-duty military personnel suspending his/hers contract to participate in military contracting with any of the mentioned companies.
Although we have informed the authors of the article they keep insisting on the contrary, mentioning no less than 8 times that and we quote "at least 60 paratroopers from the 630th Paratrooper Battalion "Smaranda Brăescu" (Bacău) and other elite units in the country took leave and left to work for better salaries in Africa" and "among the ranks of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) who still operate in the DRC and have been operating since 2023, as our sources inform us, tens of SOF fighters left for the Congo" and (...) "about 60 active-duty military personnel suspended their contracts with the MoD and left with a PMC for a mission on another continent".
In the content of the article, there are 8 references to this aspect without any evidence provided. Upon reviewing the status of our military personnel between 2022 and 2024 only one SOF member took an unpaid leave with no relation to the activities alleged by the authors of the news article.
In conclusion, the statements which allege that active-duty members of the SOF have partaken in operations directed by a PMC in Congo have no basis in reality, these allegations having a potential to damage the public image of the MoD.
As a result, to correctly inform the public, we ask all interested parties to publish this counterargument attached to the news article. We guarantee that we will continue to have an honest and transparent dialogue in accordance with our duties described by law".
🇷🇴❓👔 Former PNL president, prime-minister, minister of defense and recently-elected senator for the Dolj county, Nicolae Ciucă, has resigned from the Parliament.
He didn't give a reason why he felt the need to resign after being reelected but people have been speculating for the reason for his sudden resignation.
The acting-president of PNL, Ilie Bolojan, has organised an audit of PNL's finances and the audit, although not made public, revealed a hole in the party's budget of several million EURs, the money Ciucă had wasted on his presidential campaign, his books, and on other things.
Being a senator grants one parliamentary immunity from most crimes so it is strange for Ciucă to throw away his parliamentary immunity when he may be held accountable for the way he spent his party's money while he was its president.
So, the rumour goes that Ciucă is looking for a military-diplomatic position somewhere in Western Europe or America, with some speculating that he may replace the Romanian ambassador to NATO, Dan Neculăescu, who is nearing the end of his term. In any case, everyone believes Ciucă wants to put as much distance between him and the National Anticorruption Directorate.

🇪🇺🌐⚖️ The Venice Commission after publishing its report on the cancellation of a valid election by a Constitutional Court had asked the Romanian Parliament for a videoconference with opposition party to discuss the situation in Romania
The only problem was that the general secretariat of the parliament, a body run by PSD and PNL, didn't inform any of the opposition parties of this request until it was too late.
As recounted by AUR senator, Petrișor Peiu, he received this notification today, on February 6th, a week late. The Venice Commission had asked for an online videoconference to happen on February 4th, two days ago.
The general secretary of the senate, is Mario-Ovidiu Oprea, of the National Liberal Party, the party that launched a coup d'etat to keep its president, Klaus Johannis, in power.

🇺🇸💰🇷🇴 Gypsy sociologist, Gelu Duminică, complains on Facebook that after the termination of the USAID agency, 6% of the budget of the NGO, ”Agenția Împreună” (Together Agency) was wiped out by the Trump administration.
As a result, as Duminică says, his work for creating a "non-discriminatory", "inclusive" and "democratic" society took a hit but "will survive thanks the efforts of the Romanian business zone".
He tells his haters that "they will too become victims of populism" and tells his followers that "the 1930s are back".
For your information (FYI), Gelu Duminică is a gypsy and anti-racism activist that complains daily about the ”institutional racism” in Romania and ”racist micro-aggressions” he encounters daily from the Romanian people.

🇷🇴🗯🇲🇩 The Action & Solidarity Party (PAS) is going to lose the 2025 Parliamentary elections according to sociologist, Dan Dungaciu.
The IMAS opinion poll paints a terrifying picture, only thanks to the diaspora, the Moldovan president saved herself but we are now in a situation where the proeuropean president lost the vote in Moldova and the referendum on joining the EU also failed. The support for the pro-EU camp collapsed to 48%.
PAS will be held accountable for the energy crisis, no one in Romania is paying any attention to what happens in Moldova, then add the scandal surrounding the prosecutor, Veronica Dragalin. When Sandu first won, the Americans said that Moldova was incapable to fight organised crime and ordered a new prosecution body and brought a prosecutor from the US. Now Sandu says Dragalin isn't good anymore. (...) If PAS doesn't make changes in its government the pro-Russian side will win.

Data from national company, Transgaz, showed 1.9 million m3 of natural gas were flowing out of Romania at the metering station in Isaccea towards Ukraine.
Ukraine is not the final destination of the natural gas, the final destination being Tiraspol per the agreement negotiated by Moldovan and Transnistrian delegates with the backing of the EU.

🇺🇸❌🇷🇴 Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Russo-Ukrainian War and former acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Richard Grenell, called out the Romanian prime-minister, Marcel Ciolacu on X (Twitter) in relation to the controversy surrounding the way USAID was spending American taxpayer money.
Grenell, called USAID spending a “support program” for “left wing candidates around the world” saying that conservatives were “attacked” and gave Romania as the latest example of the USAID promoting leftists to the detriment of conservatives.
‼️ Why is this important? Călin Georgescu had been hinting for two weeks that an “announcement” regarding his predicament will come from a top-American official.
This is perhaps the clearest sign of support that is coming from the new Trump Administration in his favour.

🇪🇺🚫👳🏿♂️🧕🏽☪️ The EU plans to revise the 1951 Convention on Refugees allowing countries to deport asylum seekers regardless if they face danger or not back home!
Eurocrats have finally realised that a convention drafted and signed 74 years ago has become obsolete and that it should be at the very least revised, if not, discarded completely.
The Convention stated that countries are forbid to expulse refugees that have crossed into or are attempting to cross into the country, dating to the pre-WW2 era times when Jewish refugees were denied entry by various states and were returned back to their countries of origin or directed elsewhere
The report discussed by the ministers of internal affairs of the EU reportedly admitted, finally, that there are some migrant communities (not all) who fail to integrate into European societies, fail to adopt European values and create their own parallel societies.
Failed asylum seekers as well as refugees with permanent residence have been behind a wave of violent crimes and murders committed in European countries like Germany, but they were protected from deportation under the refugee laws.
There have been EU proposals of establishing centres outside of the EU for migrants waiting on a decision of their asylum application, but the convention is considered an obstacle.
Plans for new rules allowing deportations and repatriation centres outside the EU are due to be challenged as a breach of the convention in court.
Millions of migrants illegally entered into EU countries during the Syrian refugee crisis in 2015 as they looked to find asylum, with requests having remained high since.
Discontent with this has resulted in support of nationalist and radical populist parties all over Europe, which promise to combat the number of asylum seekers being allowed to stay in their countries.

— This is an out-of-context clip which is making the rounds on social media because it is pure ragebait.
The reason why Nicușor Dan didn't shake the hand of the Romanian Patriarch, his Beatitude, Daniel of Romania, was because His Beatitude had just finished addressing the Chamber of Deputies and wishing the new president good fortunes in the times to come, something which the rabbi and the Roman-Catholic priest didn't have the chance to do because Romania is an Orthodox country and they had no reason to address the Chamber.
There will be plenty of reasons in the future to start disliking Nicușor Dan when the tax reform comes.
Also, the audacity for a Russian Telegram channel to speak about the "lack of Orthodoxy" in Romania when in the Russian Federation, they still haven't demolished Lenin's Mausoleum where thousands of Russians annually go to worship his cadaver.
It was Vladimir Putin who opposed the burial of Vladimir Lenin and the closure of the Mausoleum back in 2001 as Boris Yeltsin wanted to get rid off it but his term ended before he could've carried it out.
Moscow, besides Istanbul in Turkey, is also the European city with the highest population of Muslims, with an estimated 2-2.5 million Muslims residing in the Russian capital (entire metropolitan area) or about 15-18% of the city's population. Orthodox Christians barely make more than 50% of the city's population.

🇷🇴🤝🇵🇱 Romanian president, Nicușor Dan, will be traveling to Warsaw next week to participate in the electoral rallies of Warsaw mayor, Rafał Trzaskowski, who is running for Polish president.
Dan said his ”Polish colleagues” invited him to one of Rafał Trzaskowski rallies
Trzaskowski and Polish premier, Donald Tusk, like Nicușor Dan, are servants of Germany and France.
When Tusk became premier in October 2023, the Visegrad Group, reuniting Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary virtually fell apart as two of the four members, Czechia and Poland, suddenly became pro-German/pro-French/pro-EU and abandoned the fight for their sovereignty. Nawrocki's victory could see the Visegrad Group be reactivated.
After Tusk became premier, the Weimar Triangle, a format reuniting, France, Germany and Poland was reactivated, the format having been dormant ever since Law & Justice (PiS) won the Polish presidential elections of 2015.
The Weimar Triangle is a regional group which Nicușor Dan said earlier this year, he wants Romania to become a part of.

🇷🇴🗳⚡️ The motion to suspend president Klaus Johannis was rejected by the Romanian Parliament was rejected for a 2nd time using yet another legal technicality!
On February 3rd, the reunited bureaus of the parliament controlled by the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition have rejected the motion to suspend president Klaus Johannis, because the motion was submitted ”without notice” before the meeting of the reunited bureaus and thus could not be admitted on the order of the day to be discussed.
Previously the bureaus rejected the motion because it was submitted a few hours apart at the political bureau of the Senate and then the Chamber of Deputies.
Of course, the excuses given by the bureaus are outrageous and pathetic, especially knowing that the motion to suspend Klaus Johannis will never pass through the Parliament, as the sovereignist side doesn't have a majority and it recently lost 6 MPs, further diminishing its power in Parliament.
So then, why go through all this effort to defend Klaus Johannis who is a liability to the image of all three parties, PNL, PSD and UDMR?
Because Johannis is such a stuck up arrogant bastard that he refuses completely to answer for his conduct as president. If the political bureaus would let this motion to go through, Johannis would be forced to go the Parliament and respond to the questions put by MPs which he evidently is afraid of.
The last time Johannis answered questions without knowing them beforehand was 2014. Every interview after that was prepared in advance.

🟥🟩🟥📺🇲🇩 Transnistrians netizens reported that, for some strange reason, their TVs were able to pick up the broadcast of the Moldova One TV channel.
TV broadcasting in Transnistria is heavily restricted and monopolised by the Interdnestrcom (IDC) who, since 1995, had blocked every TV channel available on the right-bank of the Dniester (Moldova). All Romanian-language channels were also banned.
Yet, without prior warning, two Romanian-language channels, the state news, Moldova One and a sports channel, We Sport, were now available to Transnistrian residents despite the ban. If anyone in Transnistria wanted to watch anything other than the Russian-language channels offered by IDC, they had to have analog antennas which were hard to come by and few spots in the region allowed for signals from Moldova to be picked up.

His supporters complain of supermarkets artificially inflating prices and that supermarkets like Lidl, Kaufland, Carrefour, Auchan, Mega Image etc. put on shelves imported products but the Romanian government contradicts and says that Romania has the "lowest prices in the EU".
The Romanian government also counterargues and claims that foreign supermarket chains actually sell mostly Romanian-made products but opinions are split.
The boycott is set to start on February 10th and last until February 16th.

🇺🇸💰🇷🇴 Due to Donald Trump's suspension of the USAID programs, several NGOs working in child trafficking prevention lost their source of funding.
Just a few months ago in September 2024, Romania signed a partnership with the US on combating and preventing child trafficking with the US embassy funding through USAID various projects through several NGOs, mostly related to child education. The program was worth 10 million USD.
Although this program was suspended for 90 days, it is unclear what happens after the 90 days suspension ends. The NGOs are worried however that their other projects, such as aiding Ukrainian refugees which are financed through bodies such as the United Nations Human Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
USAID spent 600 million USD from 1990 to 2007 in Romania. After Romania joined the EU, the USAID withdrew from the country as most of its projects were taken over by the EU. USAID's direct funding after 2007 was very limited but their financial support to other organisations, meant that the USAID was still indirectly funding various projects
Romanian NGOs have not been particularly hit hard by liquidation of the USAID agency, but their representatives say that the message given by the new Trump administration is a strong one that will "shake up" and completely change the discourse surrounding the "civil society".

🇺🇸💰🇷🇴 Another project financed by USAID in Romania: The Active Watch NGO
Active Watch was founded in 2006 by a man called Mircea Toma. The NGO is a media monitor, who, seeks to police public discourse, "encouraging" politicians and journalists alike to behave responsibly, it condemns any forms of limitation of the right to freedom of expression as well as promotes media literacy campaigns, social justice and promotes active participation of the public in decision/lawmaking.
Mircea Toma has become a member of the National Audiovisual Council (CNA), the council which routinely hands out fines to Realitatea Plus for having Călin Georgescu on air, but completely ignores the gross fearmongering campaigns about Russian invasion on Antena 3 and Digi24 and the other offences the last two TV stations have committed over the years.
Active Watch isn't very specific with their source of funding, the last time the NGO detailed its financial grants was 2007 when USAID was a sponsor.
