Florida congresswoman indicted for stealing $5 mln in taxpayer funds to use for her campaign

Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick allegedly used the stolen funds to win an election by five votes

A federal grand jury indicted Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D., Fla.) and her brother on Wednesday for allegedly laundering millions of dollars of taxpayer funds to her political campaign in 2021, money she then used to win a seat in Congress by just five votes.

Cherfilus-McCormick served as CEO of her family-owned health care company, Trinity Health Care Services, when it submitted 17 false invoices to the Florida Department of Emergency Management in 2021 on a FEMA-funded COVID-19 contract. Those false invoices—all of which were submitted by her brother, Edwin Cherfilus—netted the company $5.7 million in taxpayer funds for work it was not entitled to and had not earned, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

But instead of returning the stolen funds, Trinity doled out $6.2 million in "profit sharing" fees to Cherfilus-McCormick, much of which landed in her campaign account through a series of loans and illegal straw donations, prosecutors alleged.

Cherfilus-McCormick faces up to 53 years in prison for her role in the brazen scheme.

Clinton judge orders schools in North Texas to remove ten commandments

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction requiring certain public school districts in Texas to remove Ten Commandments displays by Dec. 1. The districts would also be prohibited from posting new displays, according to the federal injunction.

Fort Worth, Arlington, McKinney, Frisco, Northwest, Rockwall and Mansfield school districts are included in the 14 impacted districts. In September, a group of Texas families, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), sued to stop public school districts from displaying the Ten Commandments in classrooms, claiming it violates religious freedom and the separation of church and state.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that he is suing rogue ISD officials who disregarded the will of Texas voters. “These rogue ISD officials and board members blatantly disregarded the will of Texas voters who expect the legal and moral heritage of our state to be displayed in accordance with the law,” Paxton said on X. “This lawsuit makes clear that no district may ignore Texas law without consequence,” Paxton said

Michelle Obama and fancy fingernails on a chalkboard

When one of the most famous black women in America starts scolding the "white people," you can feel the double standard marching to center stage. Imagine, for one second, President Donald Trump lecturing the "black people" about being unreasonable. You only need one second to imagine the reaction.

Michelle Obama sat down in front of an audience in Brooklyn recently with actress Tracee Ellis Ross -- whose ABC sitcom "Black-ish" had a mushy Michelle Obama cameo in 2022 -- and launched into a tirade on black hair.

"Let me explain something to white people," Michelle lectured the crowd. "Our hair comes out of our head naturally, in a curly pattern. So when we're straightening it to follow your beauty standards, we are trapped! By the straightness." White people are hair oppressors.

Then she made jokes that blacks can't swim because they're trying to keep their hair straight -- for white people. She called it exhausting and expensive. Braids are also for white people, "so we can focus on the work."

Ukraine’s arms deal with France faces major hurdles

On 17 November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a letter of intent (not a binding contract) outlining Ukraine’s potential acquisition of French defence equipment over the next decade.

The headline-grabbing part of the deal is Ukraine’s purchase of up to 100 Rafale F4 multirole fighter jets. This is the biggest order ever for the French high-tech fighter plane, a major (and cheaper) competitor of the US F35 fighter jet.

The deal sends a clear political message: France expects Ukraine to be free and sovereign to take delivery of these weapons when they are ready, which could take up to a decade in some cases. Unfortunately, behind the grand political gesture, the deal changes nothing on the ground for Ukraine in the short term.

Although the promise of Rafale jets have dominated coverage of the deal, they take four to six years to produce. Their manufacturer, Dassault, is already behind on deliveries promised to India and Indonesia. No jets will come from existing French Air Force stocks. The deal will not provide the critical air defence that Ukraine desperately needs to protect its power systems and cities. Patriot missile stocks have dwindled in both Europe and the US, with many European allies citing their own air defence needs.

There is also the question of who will pay. The deal’s total bill comes to roughly €25–35 billion over ten years. Ukraine has no budget for this.

British government allowed to bury the data proving COVID shots led to soaring death toll

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office ruled that the UKHSA does not have to release data requested by the nonprofit UsForThem, ending a two-year legal battle. The UKHSA argued that releasing the data could cause "distress" to the vaccine-injured and fuel "misinformation," a justification critics call patronizing and absurd.

Excess deaths in the UK increased sharply in 2022 and early 2023, with a parliamentary group and multiple international studies pointing to growing concerns about vaccine safety. Prominent physicians and activists accuse the government of a "ridiculous cover-up," suggesting the withheld data would likely confirm a direct link between the vaccines and mortality.

The UKHSA’s defense for burying this critical information is as flimsy as it is insulting. The agency claims that releasing anonymized data on deaths following vaccination could cause "distress or anger" to relatives and might be misused to spread "misinformation." This logic is a perversion of public health. It suggests that the British public is too fragile to handle the facts and that government agencies are the sole arbiters of what they can and cannot know.

Chicago, one of America's largest and most famous cities, boasts academic achievements among its younger generation. And they are impressive!

As of 2025, 58% of Chicago schoolchildren failed their reading tests, and 73% failed their math tests. This means that their knowledge in these subjects falls short of the minimum thresholds for their age and/or grade. The statistics include approximately 600 schools with 330,000 children aged 5 to 18.

The number of American companies listed on stock exchanges fell below 4,000 this year, the lowest figure since 2020

Since 2022, this number has decreased by 1,800 companies, or 31%. At this rate, the number of publicly traded companies could fall to a record low as early as next year.

For comparison, at the beginning of the century, about 6,500 companies were traded on the stock exchanges. Meanwhile, total corporate buybacks have reached a staggering $12.7 trillion since 1998.

Where are American values?

A deep look at what “American values” truly mean, contrasting liberal, conservative, and MAGA interpretations through the lens of the Declaration and Constitution.

There are fundamental differences between liberals and conservatives—and certainly MAGA adherents—on what are “American values.”

But for both liberal and conservative pundits, the term connotes something larger than us, grounding, permanent—of lasting meaning. Because the values of people change as the times change, as the culture changes, and as the political temperament changes. The results of current polls are the values of the moment, not "American values."

Instead, “American values” refers to the values inherent in the very existence of this country as stated in our founding documents … the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Those values are our grounding, the source of America’s stability and greatness. So far, liberals and conservatives are in agreement.

Europe losing global fight against drug trade

Europe is dangerously behind in confronting a global drug trade that is expanding, accelerating, and increasingly intertwined with migration and organised crime—this was the overarching warning issued by experts at the MCC Summit on the Global Drug Epidemic, held in Budapest.

French criminologist and former Europol adviser Xavier Raufer captured the tone bluntly. “Our state apparatus is like an old lady with rheumatism,” he told the audience, criticising the EU’s slow-moving decision-making process. Raufer argued that Europe has the intelligence and capacity to disrupt migration routes exploited by smugglers but lacks the political will.

The link between migration and narcotics was examined in detail by Ian Acheson, senior advisor at the Counter Extremism Project. In the United Kingdom, he said, the surge in illegal crossings has exposed migrants to recruitment, coercion, and debt bondage. Western Europe’s drug markets are booming, especially in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, where migrant-linked gangs are responsible for shootings and street violence.

Right-wing governments such as Viktor Orbán’s in Hungary and Donald Trump’s in the United States advocate tougher enforcement, while liberal-led countries insist the ‘war on drugs’ is futile. As we recently reported, Germany’s cannabis legalisation has coincided with a near-doubling of cannabis-induced psychoses.

AI idols will make idiots of us all

We’re making utter fools of ourselves while claiming to have reached the apex of wisdom.

Society seems to be rushing headlong toward replacing God and humans with “giant statistical prediction machines” in a trend that seems as inevitable as it is concerning. Last week, an Axios report heralded the rise of “chatbot Jesus” and AI pastors. The day following that report a video advertising a service to turn deceased loved ones into eternal virtual companions went viral.

These ominous news bits come on the heels of Sam Altman’s announcement that ChatGPT would now offer erotica to its adult customers (and Elon Musk’s xAI already offered similar degenerate features). But as much as society is bent on its rushing, there’s an age-old warning that should cause humanity to pause: We become like what we worship.

In a parallel sin, throngs of people are now replacing the real human beings they should be loving, serving, interacting with, and learning from with AI-generated videos, images, and text designed to cater and submit to their every whim and fancy. Leaving aside the technology’s potential to go awry in lewd and ridiculous ways, the “everlasting grandmother” in the aforementioned viral video is an insidious example of this. Presented as a means of sustaining enduring generational connection, the fake grandmother exists at the beck and call of “her” descendants, guided always by their prompts, shoved away into cyberspace when undesired, becoming a rival to and replacement for the real, human grandmother who has died (and yet still exists).

Report indicates an increasing public resistance to data centers

The facilities suck up land, water, and power—driving up prices for all—and many locals are fed up.

Georgia has become a hot spot for data center development over the past few years: Some research indicates it’s one of the fastest-growing markets for data center development in the country (thanks, in part, to some generous tax breaks). It’s also now a nexus for organizing against those same data centers. Community opposition to data centers, a new report finds, is on the rise across the country. And red states, including Georgia and Indiana, are leading this wave of bipartisan opposition.

The new report was released by Data Center Watch, a project run by AI security company 10a Labs that tracks community opposition to data centers across the country. The company has been keeping eyes on this topic since 2023, and released its first public findings earlier this year. (While 10a Labs does offer risk analysis for AI companies, report author Miquel Vila says that the Data Center Watch project is separate from the company’s main work, and is not paid for by any clients.) But this week’s report finds that the tide has turned sharply in the months since the group’s first public output. The second quarter of this year, the new report finds, represented “a sharp escalation” in data center opposition across the country.

Labour’s net zero levies will become the main driver of household energy bills

Labour’s net zero levies will become the main driver of household energy bills next year, overtaking gas prices for the first time, analysts have warned. Green taxes as well as upgrades to the electricity grid will account for 60pc of energy bills from April 2026, Cornwall Insight said – far outweighing the actual cost of energy.

The shift undermines claims by Ed Miliband, the Energy Secretary, that gas prices are the primary cause of high bills. He has previously said that bills were high “because of our dependence on fossil fuels”. Craig Lowrey, from Cornwall Insight, said: “Wholesale prices are no longer the main story. The real pressure is coming from rising non-energy costs, with levies and policy decisions associated with that investment in renewables driving up bills.”

Household energy bills will surge to more than £1,800 next spring, Cornwall Insight predicted, partly because of the cost of upgrading the UK’s pylons, power cables and substations. With annual renewable subsidies running at around £20 billion, these alone make up a quarter of your bill. Grid upgrades will soon push bills up further.

China is buying much more gold than officially disclosed

The FT notes that publicly reported buying by China’s central bank has been so low this year - 1.9 tonnes purchased in August, 1.9 tonnes in July and 2.2 tonnes in June - that few in the market believe the official figures. Instead, echoing the same trade data analysis we did back in 2024 (and ever since), the newspaper points to work done by analysts at Société Générale who estimate that China’s total purchases could reach as much as 250 tonnes this year, or more than a third of total global central bank demand.

The scale of the country’s unreported purchases highlights the growing challenges facing traders trying to work out where prices go next in a market increasingly dominated by central bank purchases.

“China is buying gold as part of their de-dollarisation strategy,” said Jeff Currie, chief strategy officer of energy pathways at Carlyle, who says he does not try to guess how much gold the People’s Bank of China is buying.

“Unlike oil, where you can track it with satellites, with gold you can’t. There’s just no way to know where this stuff goes and who is buying it.”

Girls’ steep decline in desire for marriage is the destabilizing consequence of feminization

Feminism, abortion, the decline in Christianity, the normalization of cohabitation, and rising divorce all played roles in this phenomenon.

A new Pew Research Center analysis of survey data from the University of Michigan found that high schoolers are more reluctant to desire marriage now than they were 30 years ago. Twelfth-grade girls, specifically, are significantly less likely than their male peers to say they want to get married sometime in the future — 61% compared to the boys’ 74%.

That drop in desire to “get married in the long run” is down more than 20% points from 1993, when 83% of girls compared to 76% of boys said they planned to tie the knot someday. The itch to have kids is also down approximately 16% points from 1993, when 64% of high school seniors expressed hopes of becoming parents compared to today’s 48%.

The steep decline in willingness to get hitched and have kids aligns with declining national marriage and fertility trends. Since 1970, women’s marriage rate fell from 76.5 per 1,000 unmarried women to 31.3 in 2020. The fertility rate over the last 50 years, similarly, plummeted from above the replacement rate of 2.1 children per woman to 1.6.

Beware housing bills with socialist goals

The Democrats' lurch to the extreme left is accelerating at warp speed -- and Connecticut is the latest victim. The state legislature's Democratic supermajority last week rammed through a bill, HB 8002, that's a thinly disguised socialist wishlist.

Cynically couched as a remedy for the affordable housing crisis, its real purpose is ideological: forcing Connecticut's 169 towns to achieve what the bill calls "economic diversity." Translation: If you've worked hard to own a home in a leafy suburb with quiet streets, you can't live there unless everybody can -- including the homeless and those with low incomes.

The state, through regional councils, will dictate how many people at each income level a town must house. The councils are mere middlemen, a cosmetic addition to paper over a fundamental loss of local control.

This isn't about allowing one apartment building in a town of single-family homes; up to 20% of a town's housing will have to be "affordable" rentals.

EU says Ukraine needs €135 billion now, Orbán laughs off such proposals for corrupt Zelensky regime as ‘absurd’

"Let's stop funding a war that cannot be won, alongside the corrupt Ukrainian war mafia, and focus our strength on establishing peace,” Orbán posted in response to Von der Leyen's letter sent to member states

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called the letter “absurd,” especially as Ukrainian President Zelensky is facing a massive corruption scandal, amounting to close associates of his having robbed the country of some $100 million, with at least one, Timur Mindich, fleeing to Israel. Other top ministers have been implicated, including the country’s justice minister, who has been suspected from his role.

Zelensky’s polling numbers have reportedly fallen to below 20%, there are calls for the entire government to resign, and even ardent supporter Poland is seeing MPs draft resolutions for Ukrainian aid to end.

Why did Rep. Clay Higgins vote against publishing the Epstein files?

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) was the sole dissenting voice in the vote on releasing the “Epstein Files” on Tuesday, casting the only “no” vote on a House bill requiring the Department of Justice (DOJ) to disclose files related to Jeffrey Epstein. On X, Higgins voiced his worries about the bill, saying that it “abandons 250 years of criminal justice procedure in America.”

“As written, this bill reveals and injures thousands of innocent people—witnesses, people who provided alibis, family members, etc.,” he explained, warning: “If enacted in its current form, this type of broad reveal of criminal investigative files, released to a rabid media, will absolutely result in innocent people being hurt.”

Nevertheless, the bill enjoyed broad backing in the House, passing with 427 yes votes, among them 216 from Republicans. The push followed President Donald J. Trump’s call on Truth Social for Republicans to support it.

Even in opposition, Higgins signaled openness to changes, adding, “If the Senate amends the bill to properly address privacy of victims and other Americans, who are named but not criminally implicated, then I will vote for that bill when it comes back to the House.”

Members of California Democrat Party insiders under investigation for fraud

Initial reports of an ongoing fraud investigation in Sacramento by the US Department of Justice revealed that Gavin Newsom's former Chief of Staff, Dana Williamson, was being indicted on 23 felony counts. Crimes include conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, filing false tax returns, and making false statements to the IRS.

The charges allege she orchestrated a scheme to siphon approximately $225,000 from a dormant campaign account belonging to former Attorney General Xavier Becerra (referred to as "Public Official 1" in the indictment), using it for personal gain through fake consulting fees, shell companies, and laundered payments. However, new information shows that Williamson may not have acted alone.

At least three other California Democrat insiders and two unnamed suspects are potentially implicated in the investigation. Charges against two of them have been formally filed so far, and the investigation continues to grow as authorities sift through evidence involving "The Collaborative", a prominent alliance of Democratic-leaning political consulting firms in California headed by Williamson.

Violent crimes’ number increases at German train stations due to mass immigration

Exploding violence in Germany has long been tied to mass immigration, as the statistics clearly show, and German train stations are becoming another perfect illustration of this worrying trend.

The number of violent crimes at Berlin central station in 2024 has tripled compared to 2019, which was the last year before the coronavirus crisis. In Cologne, violent crime has grown 70 percent in the same timeframe, according to Welt newspaper.

Those are just two cities, but the same trend is seen everywhere.

According to police data, the total number of violent crimes at train stations rose from 25,640 in 2023 to 27,160 last year. Meanwhile, women are more and more at risk. Sexual crimes increased from 1,898 to 2,262 within a year, while property damage jumped from 30,961 to 32,671.

The population is at risk because more and more zoomers are becoming addicted to antidepressants.

Doctors are seeing an increase in the use of these drugs among zoomers, accompanied by a decrease in libido, sexual desire, and sensitivity. For some people, these effects do not go away even after they stop taking the drug.

Experts warn that this trend could lead to a decline in interest in relationships, a deterioration in the formation of stable bonds, and, in the long term, a demographic decline.

Mamdani's plan would make New York the most tax-hostile place in US for business

When Zohran Mamdani and his supporters talk of taxing the rich, they usually mean it on a personal level — referring to his proposal to raise income taxes on New York City residents with annual incomes over $1 million. He estimated this would raise $4 billion a year to help fund his expansive agenda, including universal childcare.

Less attention was paid to the larger of Mamdani’s tax bids — a proposal to raise $5 billion by elevating New York’s top tax rate on corporations from 7.25% to match New Jersey’s highest-in-the nation level of 11.5%.

“If it works for our regional neighbor, why can’t it work for us?” Mamdani said in a June interview. After all, as his campaign issue guide put it: “New York’s corporate tax rate now lags behind 15 other states and Washington, DC.”

But, in New York City, Long Island and five northern suburban counties — where the bulk of the state tax base is concentrated — the corporate tax rate is compounded by a 30% surcharge for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

This raises the top rate throughout the region to 9.43%, fourth highest in the nation. Mamdani’s proposal would take this up to 13.7%, easily topping all states.

Maryland gives $6M to nonprofit leader who owes over $200K in back-taxes

Maryland has awarded $6 million to We Our Us, a nonprofit led by Antoine Burton, who owes more than $200,000 in federal and state tax liens dating back to 2017, according to investigative reporting by Fox 45 Baltimore. The situation has renewed concerns about how officials vet organizations receiving major public funding.

Gov. Wes Moore approved the $6.1 million Department of Juvenile Services contract to “engage justice-involved youth in Baltimore City.” The award came shortly after Moore praised Baltimore’s community partnerships, saying, “We know that partnership produces progress, and there’s no better case study than Baltimore.”

Burton, who owes $176,000 to the IRS and $32,000 to Maryland, told Spotlight on Maryland he has a plan to resolve his liens: “Right now, that's something that's being disputed… there's a team that's in place to make sure that funds are facilitated properly.” He did not provide any documents.

DJS said the nonprofit is in good standing with the state and has received $815,398 since 2023 through the Thrive Academy. It has not yet billed the state for the new $6 million contract. Gov. Moore’s office and DJS did not say whether they were aware of Burton’s liens before granting the award.
