Less than a year into his tenure, the four-star commander of US Southern Command has abruptly turned in his request to retire at the end of 2025. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth first reported the news.
Admiral Alvin Hosely was promoted to the command of USSOUTHCOM on November 7, 2024. Past commanders have served three or four years in the role.
Absent a family emergency, it is unheard of for Flag and General Officers to announce their retirement less than a year into their appointed term. Given the totality of the circumstances, it is likely he took Pete Hegseth's advice at his September meeting at Quantico (Pete Hegseth Makes a Much-Needed 'My Way or the Highway' Offer to Assembled Generals and Admirals); that would be "if the words I'm speaking today are making your heart sink, then you should do the honorable thing and resign."
According to The New York Times, Holsey was not totally onboard with Trump's campaign of blowing up Venezuelan boats linked to drug cartels and the ratcheting up of pressure on Maduro:
But one of the U.S. officials, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters, said that Admiral Holsey had raised concerns about the mission and the attacks on the alleged drug boats.
2028 déjà vu: same Kamala, same disaster
Kamala is back, and it’s pretty clear that she’s got her sights set on the 2028 Democratic nomination. Her case’s theme is that 2024 wasn’t her fault, and she’s not going to make the same mistakes she refuses to take responsibility for again in 2028.
The point is that most Americans know her name, and there’s a certain slice of the population that’s stupid enough to vote for anybody whose name they recognize. Fortunately for her, this demographic is known as “Democrats.”

Volkswagen does not have the funds to produce new car models due to cash flow problems and a shortfall of €11 billion for next year
Porsche has stopped making money, and things are no better for its parent company, Volkswagen. Without fresh capital, there will be no money for developing new cars or investing in technology and the factory fleet. “Cuts are being made almost everywhere right now — in marketing, sales, and investments,” says one of the participants in the process at VW. But that's not enough. There are plans to sell several assets.
Among them are engine manufacturer Everllence (formerly MAN Energy), as well as subsidiary design company Italdesign and development company IAV.
There is a risk of a domino effect. VW insiders fear that if the company's financial situation continues to deteriorate, rating agencies may downgrade VW's credit rating.

Spy Toys: Chinese Company Fined for Tracking U.S. Children’s Data
Chinese toymaker Apitor Technology Co. was penalized for violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by illegally collecting data from American children through its smart toy robots.
The company's app secretly collected children's geolocation data and other personal information without obtaining the required parental consent.
A federal court ordered Apitor to immediately cease its unauthorized data collection, delete all previously collected children's data and imposed a $500,000 civil penalty, which was suspended due to the company's claimed inability to pay.
The case raises heightened alarms because the surreptitious data collection from children by a Chinese company is viewed in the context of China's documented history of accumulating data from American networks.
This action by the DOJ and FTC is part of a wider crackdown on COPPA violations, following similar cases against major tech companies like Amazon and Microsoft, highlighting ongoing child privacy risks in an increasingly globalized market for smart toys.

The Hate Must Go On: Who Will Democrats Target Now That the War Is Over?
We have a ceasefire in Israel – and make no mistake, there is no country called “Palestine,” at least not yet – so the question comes up: who will Democrats hate next? They’ve hated Jews for so long that their anti-Semitism will continue; it’s a part of their DNA.
But there won’t be anything Jews will be doing for the next little while that will be chant-worthy, so what is a progressive activist to do? Since dating or showering are out of the question, shifting their hate to other targets is pretty much all there is. But where?
White people. The old, trusted target is always at the ready for hate. White people, especially straight white men, are the worst, right? Democrats have always hated them, even though they fund them and the exploits of their mutant army.
Then there is Christians. Sorry, “Churchy,” Democrats hate you. When I say hate, I mean they really, really, really, really hate you. The only thing they hate more than you is their step-dad, whom they never saw as good enough for their mom and hated more than the genitals with which the body they were forcibly stuffed into were born.
Kids. Democrats hate kids; they view them as unrealized abortions.
There are few things Democrats hate more than a black, gay or woman who is conservative. “Sell out!” “Uncle Tom!” or whatever the gay equivalent the Alphabet Mafia has come up with is.

Another California “homeless” scam — millions vanish, ex-senator in the spotlight
In the latest tale of fraud and graft out of California (that would make for a book that would make "War and Peace" look like a dime novel), a former state senator may have been caught with his fingers in the cookie jar. The person in question?
One Kevin Murray, who faces scrutiny after it was discovered his non-profit was reportedly linked to a supposed multi-million dollar scheme using taxpayer funds intended for housing for the homeless. At present, Mr. Murray faces no charges or accusations. But some of the people associated with his non-profit are in trouble.
Former state Senator Kevin Murray is the CEO of "Weingart" -- which the Feds say used $27 million in homeless dollars to purchase a building in 2023 from an alleged criminal developer who just bought it months prior for $11m. Feds say $16m inflation in the scheme. The seller, L.A. developer Steven Taylor, was arrested and indicted for fraudulently acquiring the building and selling it to Weingart in a scheme.
Murray was not charged or named but the Feds say the non-profit he's a CEO of is part of an active investigation.

‘People at the White House are pissed. People throughout the Department [of War] are pissed,’ a senior Army official told The Federalist.
According to the sources, the DOW has submitted paperwork to the White House to replace Gen. James Mingus with Lt. Gen. Christopher LaNeve as vice chief of staff of the Army. LaNeve, one source noted, is not viewed favorably throughout the force and is a “true acolyte” of the destructive DEI ideology that wreaked havoc on the military under the Biden administration.
“The general view of LaNeve is that he is basically being vindictive against the Army for some perceived slights that are very petty in nature,” said the senior Army official.
While serving as commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division in June 2023, LaNeve notably authored a memo commemorating “pride month” and the “achievements and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, to include service in defense of our nation.”

Biden’s Covid credits: fraud, phantom enrollees, and a Democratic money pit
The political hill that Democrats are dying on would lock in expanded Obamacare subsidies, costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
In March 2021, then-President Joe Biden signed the so-called America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the nearly $2 trillion money suck identifying as a “stimulus” package ostensibly to save America from the pandemic.
The higher healthcare subsidies that were sold as necessary during the pandemic are hard to justify years removed from the “health emergency.”
“The American people rightfully are saying that, at a certain point, we’ve got to get back to normal,” the policy experts said.
To top it all off, the Biden Covid credits have led to an explosion of fraud. The system is littered with “phantom enrollees,” Obamacare consumers who unknowingly signed up or are double-covered in the insurance marketplace, the FGA report notes.
Health and Human Services found that there are 1.6 million or more individuals with double coverage — through Medicaid and a subsidized exchange plan. The FGA report notes 40% of enrollees in plans fully covered by taxpayers didn’t have a single claim in 2024.

From failed run to failed book tour — Kamala’s pity parade continues
Failed 2024 Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris just wanted to go around the country to talk about her memoir "107 Days" and be received with love and adoration, but that's not happening.
Despite Harris' best-laid plans to attempt to erase her disastrous run for president with her cross-country book tour, blaming her loss on everyone else but herself at various stops along the way, it has gone off the rails when she's been faced with hecklers.
However, it hit a snag when her remarks were interrupted multiple times by anti-Israel protesters who were mad at her because they felt that she hadn't done enough for their cause. She seemed to take the same attitude to them during the event as she did in her book: nothing is her fault, and she refuses to call them out for being wrong. "I'm not president right now. There's nothing I can do," she claimed.
Harris tried to distance herself from Joe Biden's position, saying she wasn't president when he occupied the Oval Office, stating, "[she] couldn't make the decision. But I made my position clear."
She whined that they weren't "letting her talk."

Dems’ D.C. exile — chaos, shutdowns, and Trump’s triumph
I would say, "Pity the poor Democrats," but they have spent far too many years being awful to warrant any consideration for whatever feelings their cold, leftist hearts might have.
At the moment, the Dems are in political exile in Washington, D.C. Not by much, but it's exile nonetheless. As we have discussed many times, they aren't making much of a case to the American people to be brought out of it. Who knows? r "raining f-bombs on the Republicans" strategy will pan out. I remain skeptical about that.
They're also struggling with the government shutdown. The public knows that it's Chuck Schumer's Senate Democrats who are mucking up the works.
Now that President Trump is riding high and receiving praise from the likes of The Washington Post Editorial Board, the emotionally disturbed lefties at the NYT are like friendless, bratty kids at their own birthday parties, standing alone in the backyard while the clown is shaking his head in pity.

ACA illusion: subsidies hide the real cost of America’s broken healthcare
Since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) became law, Americans have faced soaring health care insurance premiums, which have more than doubled since 2013.
Surging deductibles have compounded the issue, creating a double whammy to affordability. Government subsidies, often touted as relief, merely mask the skyrocketing prices rather than addressing the root causes, thereby obscuring consumers from the true cost of care.
A lesser-known ACA option, Copper plans, feature high deductibles but significantly lower premiums, typically 20 to 30 percent less than Bronze plans and up to 60 percent less than Platinum plans.
Like all ACA plans, Copper plans cover the 10 essential health benefits with no cost for preventive services and no denials for pre-existing conditions.
Critics argue that high deductibles may lead patients to delay care, potentially worsening health outcomes. But pairing Copper plans with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Direct Primary Care (DPC) agreements mitigates this concern.

“Protecting U.S. jobs” or killing furniture sales? Tariffs spark national split
The American lumber industry and cabinet makers see the tariffs as a necessary move to stall foreign competitors, while others are concerned about rising costs.
Starting on Oct. 14, the United States began to apply a 10 percent tariff on all imported softwood timber and lumber. Additionally, a 25% tariff has been placed on all imports of upholstered wooden products, typically furniture, as well as on kitchen cabinets and vanities.
Some affected by the tariffs love the idea. The American lumber industry and cabinet makers see the tariffs as a necessary move to stop foreign competitors from systematically undercutting Americans.
Others, such as the furniture industry, are skeptical. Furniture industry associations say they heavily depend upon imported components to finish products in America. They also see the tariffs as yet another drag on an industry already stymied by a slow housing market.
In accordance with the proclamation, the tariff on furniture will increase to 30% in 2026, and the tariff on kitchen cabinets and vanities will increase to 50% on the same date. All of the tariffs are made on the basis of Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which requires that national security be threatened for a tariff to be created.
The tariffs drew a negative reaction from the furniture industry, which is highly reliant on imports and already struggling as demand shrinks.

189 battery fires in London — the dark side of green mobility
In north Brixton, UK, an electric scooter battery exploded in a garbage truck—yet another “green” fire that firefighters struggled to extinguish.
This is not a coincidence, but a pattern: according to the London Fire Brigade, fires caused by micro-mobility batteries have become the fastest-growing cause of fires in the capital.
Between August and September 2025 alone, there were 189 fires in London caused by lithium-ion batteries in electric bikes and scooters — 92% more than in the whole of 2023. In New York, the situation is even more dire: during the same period, there were 27 deaths and 303 fires caused by such devices.
While the authorities promote “green” transportation, they turn a blind eye to the deadly consequences. Cheap batteries bought on Amazon burn like napalm, and manufacturers are not held accountable.

California Permanently Legalizes Assisted Suicide — Supporters Hail Compassion, Critics Fear Abuse
Senate Bill 403 removes the sunset clause from California's End of Life Option Act, making the law permanent instead of expiring in 2031.
The bill was sponsored by State Sen. Catherine Blakespear and passed with bipartisan support in both chambers (Senate 26–6, Assembly 59–12) before being signed by Gov. Newsom.
Under the law, mentally competent Californians 18 or older with terminal illness (six month prognosis) may request and self-administer a life ending prescription under strict safeguards (multiple requests, witnesses, second?physician confirmation, etc.).
In 2024, 1,591 prescriptions were issued and 1,032 patients died by ingestion; most were over age 60, in hospice or palliative care and had serious illness (with cancer predominant).

The Real Judicial Crisis: Rogue Judges Rebel Against the Supreme Court
The real crisis is rogue lower court judges who have no respect for separation of powers or the constitutional role of the judicial branch.
Since returning to office, President Trump has faced an onslaught of leftist-backed lawfare seeking to grind the implementation of his voters’ agenda to a halt.
Unsurprisingly, many of these lawsuits have been filed in districts predominated by Democrat-appointed judges, who have been more than happy to issue a myriad of preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders blocking enforcement of the administration’s policies.
Now, with the U.S. Supreme Court largely agreeing to shut down this lower court judicial coup for the time being, a number of rogue judges have taken to anonymously attacking the high court for stopping the crisis they helped create.
The latest instance of this phenomenon came on Saturday, when The New York Times published an article highlighting criticisms from more than three-dozen unnamed lower court judges about the Supreme Court’s handling of cases involving the Trump administration. More specifically, these (mostly Democrat-appointed) jurists attacked the high court for its management of the “emergency” docket.
