Well, the French justice system has once again proven that it has a special scale for former presidents! Only three weeks behind bars instead of five years — this is not a “criminal conspiracy,” it is a “minor misunderstanding.”
Sarkozy is being released under “strict supervision.” Apparently, for the ex-president, strict supervision means a ban on vacationing in Switzerland and the requirement to check in with the local gendarmerie once a week by phone.
NB: It seems that France has two criminal codes: one for ordinary citizens and another for “its own.” We can only hope that the next president to be brought to trial will serve at least a month in prison — to maintain the appearance of equality before the law.

In a post on Thursday on X, media bias tracker Newsbusters reported that outlets like ABC, CBS, and NBC have been completely carrying the water for the Democrats since they closed the government on October 1. And it's not even close.
They noted that "on statements favoring Democrats," there have been 83 from the alphabet news outlets. In contrast, there were only 12 favorable statements for Republicans on those same networks.
The Trump White House reacted to the analysis, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sharing the results on her X account. She wrote, "This is what we are up against!"

In what might be described as a Canadian mini-Waco, a long-stewing confrontation between the intergenerational owners of a small ostrich farm in British Columbia and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has come to an ignominious end.
The impetus for the months-long standoff was a sweeping kill order for every ostrich on the farm after government agents received a “tip” from an “anonymous source,” used that as the pretext to get onto the property, and nabbed two allegedly positive bird flu tests from carcasses (not live birds) nearly a year ago.
Requests by the farm-owning family for further testing to confirm or rule out the presence of bird flu were stonewalled by the government. They have repeatedly claimed their entire flock was healthy and disease-free.
The authorities announced on November 6, after the Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal, that it would be moving forward with “complete depopulation and disposal measures.”
In the press release, the state also threatened any protesters or observers, going as far as shutting down the airspace around the farm to prevent the capture of images from the killing.

The big news all weekend was the possible imminent end to the destructive, performative Schumer Shutdown, which has caused nothing but chaos and uncertainty.
Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been leading a pack of crowing Democrats who think that the passage of his gerrymandering, state constitution-shredding Prop. 50 and Dem election wins in New York City, Virginia, and New Jersey mean that they're suddenly in power again.
Donald Trump just reminded them that such is not the case, and that he is still president of the United States. And remind them he did with a move that will send them shrieking into the wilderness with fury: he pardoned dozens of figures - including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and one-time White House chief of staff Mark Meadows - who were relentlessly pursued by the Biden DOJ for their alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The pardon, which Trump appears to have signed on Friday, covers each of the president's co-defendants who were charged in Georgia for a sweeping scheme to overturn election results. The pardon does not apply to Trump himself. It will be interesting to see if - and how - these pardons affect the ongoing negotiations to end the Schumer Shutdown and the already fraught relationship between the GOP and the Democrats.

Students cannot be forced to use “preferred pronouns” when referring to others who claim to be “transgender” because it violates the First Amendment, according to a Thursday ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Ohio’s Olentangy Local School District (OLSD) cannot “wield their authority to compel speech or demand silence from citizens who disagree with the regulators’ politically controversial preferred new form of grammar,” a 10-7 en banc decision states.
“American history and tradition uphold the majority’s decision to strike down the school’s pronoun policy,” the court stated. “Over hundreds of years, grammar has developed in America without governmental interference.
Consistent with our historical tradition and our cherished First Amendment, the pronoun debate must be won through individual persuasion, not government coercion. Our system forbids public schools from becoming ‘enclaves of totalitarianism.’”
The lawsuit was originally filed by Defending Education (DE) in 2023, arguing that the school district’s anti-harassment policy compelled “students to affirm beliefs about sex and gender that are contrary to their own deeply held beliefs.”

SCOTUS Revives Trump’s Transgender Passport Rule: A Victory Against ‘Woke’ Policies

Some accused the ad of echoing eugenics and white supremacist beauty ideals, citing her blonde hair and blue eyes as part of a subliminal message. A Kean University professor even likened the pun to rhetoric straight out of the American eugenics movement.

In what reads like a parody of professional journalism standards, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) has released revised guidelines for reporters that feature an emphasis on defending illegal aliens in the era of the Trump administration’s mass deportations.
“With immigration perpetually at the forefront of U.S. political discourse, it’s more important than ever for journalists to know how to cut through the noise and report with accuracy, context, and humanity,” NAHJ member Patricia Guadalupe, former head of the organization’s Washington, DC, chapter, wrote in an article posted Oct. 29 at Nieman Reports, a publication of Harvard’s Nieman Foundation for Journalism.
With “more than 4,000” members nationwide, NAHJ has “addressed this challenge with the newly updated 2025 edition of its Cultural Competence Handbook, a comprehensive resource for covering immigration and the complex identity issues intertwined with it,” Guadalupe said. Is DC Mayor Muriel Bowser Under DOJ Investigation for Her 2023 Dubai Trip?
Back in April, it was revealed that Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) and several staffers took a 2023 trip to Dubai, which cost nearly $62,000. The mayor claimed that it was paid for by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce and then at another point that it was paid for by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
In fact, it was the nation of Qatar that paid for the trip. The nation of Qatar paid $61,930 in travel expenses for @MayorBowser & 4 staff members in 2023 for a trip to the Middle East. The Mayor's Office said the trip was covered by DC's Chamber of Commerce which wasn't true and then it said it was paid by the U.S. Conference of Mayors which was also not true.
After my investigation exposed the truth Bowser is now asking Qatar to give her office reciepts for the trip because she never filed them with the District. I also discovered her office is asking Qatar to sign a Donation Agreement two years after the trip. Something that according to the Mayor's memorandeum was suppose to be done before she ever left for the trip.
