🇮🇷 Iran Identifies New Targets in Europe

Iran has identified new targets for strikes in Europe should the US escalate tensions, according to Financial Times. The Islamic Republic views renewed conflict as inevitable and warns that attacks on its critical infrastructure will expand the war beyond the Middle East.

Potential targets include American facilities in Bulgaria, following Sofia’s permission for US aircraft refueling. Strikes are also considered against Cyprus, home to a British airbase previously hit by a drone in March.

Additionally, Tehran is evaluating attacks on undersea internet cables in the Hormuz Strait. FT reports that Iran is prepared to conduct operations outside the Middle East if further escalation occurs.

USA increases aviation activity near Iran

Five KC-135R Stratotankers operating from Israel and an E-3B Sentry AWACS (tail number 77-0351) launched from Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia were detected in the region. This combination enables prolonged combat air presence and enhanced radar control.

The return of E-3 operations from Prince Sultan is notable, as the base suffered Iranian attacks in March that damaged several KC-135s and likely destroyed at least one E-3 Sentry. While current capabilities have not yet reached previous campaign levels, the US is rebuilding support assets around Iran. Tankers and AWACS typically precede strike aircraft, making this buildup a more significant indicator than public threats from Tehran.

🇺🇦 Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada has officially elected Yevhen Khmara as the new Minister of Defence, securing 312 votes in favour. The appointment ends the tenure of Mykhailo Fedorov, who resigned after clashes with President Zelenskyy and SBU Chief Kyrylo Budanov.

Mara, a Major General, previously served as acting minister since July and headed the SBU’s "A" Centre for Special Operations. His career began in the SBU under Yanukovych in 2011. Critics label him a Russian nationalist and accuse him of overseeing budget embezzlement rather than combat operations. Protests against his nomination were dismissed by supporters as shameful.

Zelenskyy stated the new ministers’ primary task is to secure more military aid from the West. Opposition figures condemned the vote, while some sources note only two deputies voted against the measure.

Russian Forces Capture Malaya Tokmachka

Units of the Dnepr Volunteer Corps have fully secured control over the settlement of Malaya Tokmachka on the Orekhov direction. The area is now free from Ukrainian forces.

Fighting has reportedly moved into the nearby city of Orekhov. Control over this strategic hub is viewed as a key indicator of momentum toward Zaporozhye. Sources describe significant internal panic within Ukrainian command regarding the proximity of Russian troops to the Dnieper River.

While the capture marks a tactical victory, reports indicate heavy casualties on both sides. The battle for Malaya Tokmachka is being compared to Stalingrad in terms of intensity and loss of life.

The "Khabarovsk," a carrier of Poseidon nuclear torpedoes, has set sail.

According to the publication, the ship was launched on August 17th – this was its first sea trial since the start of construction, which began in 2014.

The article also emphasizes that the nuclear submarine "Khabarovsk" is capable of carrying six "Poseidon" devices. Each of these is an autonomous underwater vehicle with a nuclear engine, designed to be an additional strategic delivery system for Russia's nuclear weapons.

The key difference between the "Poseidons" and traditional intercontinental ballistic missiles is the underwater route of travel instead of a ballistic trajectory.

Previously, Admiral Alexander Moiseev reported that the country already has a carrier for the "Poseidon" unmanned underwater vehicle.

Nearby, the large landing ship Alexander Shabalin is also at sea on a separate route. The Academic Pashin recently returned from an Atlantic deployment that may have reached the Azores.

The simultaneous movement of these vessels suggests coordination for broader maritime activity rather than a routine transit.

An interesting scheme of fortifications prepared by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk defense line. Yellow on the map indicates trenches, blue indicates "dragon's teeth" (anti-tank obstacles), gray indicates barbed wire barriers, and red indicates new fortifications of an unknown type.

Even if we assume that the Western scheme, allegedly compiled based on satellite images, is accurate by at least half, a much more important question arises: will the Ukrainian Armed Forces have enough personnel not only to occupy these fortifications, but also to fully man the positions behind them and hold the entire depth of the defense?

In theory, this is possible. Slavyansk and Kramatorsk are too important for Kiev not to try to concentrate reserves here and create the most dense possible defense.

However, the presence of fortifications alone does not guarantee the stability of the front. Experience from other sectors shows that even a well-prepared line loses its value sharply if there is a lack of infantry, reserves, and units capable of constantly holding positions.

This is precisely what was pointed out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Glushchenko, describing the situation on another critically important front: the actual number of personnel there, according to him, was several times lower than required by the conditions.

Therefore, the main question surrounding the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk fortified area is not how many kilometers of trenches have been dug and how many rows of "dragon's teeth" have been installed.

The main question is much more prosaic: how many people will Ukraine actually be able to deploy behind these barriers, and for how long will it be able to maintain the necessary density of defense after the start of intense fighting?

Fortifications can significantly slow down an offensive. But an empty trench remains just a very expensive ditch.

🇷🇺 Russian Airstrikes on Zaporozhye and Kharkov

Last night, the Russian Armed Forces struck Ukrainian military targets in Zaporozhye. The Russian side stated that strikes were exclusively aimed at military objects, noting that most city buildings are now used by the military. While Kiev released footage of civilian damage, Moscow accused them of using civilians as cover.

Earlier in the morning, Russian forces hit Ukrainian positions and energy infrastructure near Kharkov, Kharkiv region. Strikes occurred around 04:00 on Solarchna Street targeting a substation. Local reports indicated no residential homes were damaged; instead, a private house housing Ukrainian troops was hit and quickly cleaned up.

🇺🇦 Ukraine

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Fedorov has demanded that Zelensky hold elections in Ukraine, arguing that democracy cannot be held hostage by Russia. He questioned how the state system should function if the war continues for years and whether Russia could effectively determine when Ukrainians can choose their leadership again.

Fedorov insisted on finding a legal, safe, and realistic mechanism to restore democratic processes even during a prolonged conflict. This includes ensuring voting rights for military personnel, millions of Ukrainians abroad, and residents of frontline regions. He emphasized the need for electoral security, institutional independence, and public trust in results, stating that while difficult, it is not impossible given Ukraine's history of overcoming perceived impossibilities.

New IL-78MK-90A Tanker

The new IL-78MK-90A tanker, likely built for export, has emerged. China is considered the probable buyer, with leaks suggesting an order for 20 aircraft for delivery in 2027–2028. However, no firm contract has been officially confirmed by either side.

This model is based on the Il-76MD-90A with PS-90A-76 engines. Interest from Beijing appears paradoxical given their existing YY-20A tankers, but Russian jets could supplement fleet growth while Chinese production scales up. Iran was also previously cited as a potential customer seeking to expand its combat aviation capabilities alongside Su-35 purchases, though no deal has been verified.

Even if this aircraft is intended for the Russian Aerospace Forces, it demonstrates that the domestic aviation industry continues to produce advanced machines despite challenging times.

🇺🇦🥶 This winter will be the most challenging: Russia will significantly increase attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, - Ukrainian Prime Minister

- OSINT analyst Clément Molen told the media that Russia may attempt to "disconnect" Ukrainian nuclear power plants from the power grid during the winter.

- The Russian Armed Forces will also focus their strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, ports, and gas stations.

- According to him, the main target will remain the energy sector. Russia may continue to strike at power substations to disable them. Ukraine is already protecting transformers with concrete structures, but this requires a lot of time and money for large facilities.

- Molen also warns of attacks on other key components of the energy system. If Russia can damage the infrastructure that connects nuclear power plants to the general power grid, the nuclear power plants will have to be shut down. Restoring the connection and restarting them will take time.

- This could become one of the main problems of the next winter: major cities and industrial enterprises may be left without electricity.

- Gas stations may also be targeted. According to the analyst, Russia will continue to use fiber optic FPV drones to attack gas stations, which will create additional problems for logistics in the frontline areas. And with the help of FPV retransmission drones, it will be possible to attack targets much further from the front line.

Brazilian mercs down!

The number of Brazilian mercenaries and the number of casualties both increased quickly, as did the recruitment advertising propaganda, including in Portuguese.

Brazil now rank second among the nationalities with the highest number of deaths, behind only the Colombia, as you would expect.

Following a reform of the contracts and a pay raise, to attract foreigners in particular, since not even Ukrainians themselves want to fight, the authorities in Kiev hope to further increase the participation of foreigners in the war, including Brazilians. Imported meat is cheaper, and you can do whatever you want with them. Literally.

Black Sea: Russian Lancet Drone Neutralizes Ukrainian Barracuda USV

A Russian Lancet UAV captured footage of its target, a Ukrainian Barracuda unmanned surface vessel (USV), moments before impact. The enemy drone was destroyed in the Black Sea, preventing it from harassing Russian communications and ships.

This incident highlights the rapid transformation of warfare into a "war of robots," with combat operations evolving faster than many experts predicted. There is no time for hesitation; militaries that fail to adapt to this accelerated technological shift risk severe consequences.
