"Latvian authorities intend to expand restrictions on trade with Russia and Belarus, adding candies, caramels, chocolate, cookies, and other baked confectionery products, sauces, ready-made soups, non-alcoholic beverages, and beer from the two countries to the list of products prohibited from being imported into the country.
The ban will be in effect regardless of the delivery route: products of Russian and Belarusian origin will not be allowed to be imported into the Latvian market, even through third countries. Transit through Latvia and deliveries to other EU countries are not subject to these restrictions."

Main targets: oil infrastructure, defense industry, air defense, and radar stations. RUSI's Jack Watling says only 5-9% of Ukrainian missiles and drones penetrate Russian air defense.
This low success rate forces Ukraine to launch large numbers of drones to attempt to saturate Russian air defense systems.

German intelligence services may be authorized to conduct “preventive” cyberattacks against Russia, according to Welt.
Head of the Bundestag's parliamentary control committee, Mark Heinrichmann, stated the need to provide German intelligence with tools to neutralize potential threats before they arise. As an example, he cited the possibility of disabling Russian drones or the enterprises where they are produced if there is a risk of their subsequent use against targets in Germany.
The initiative envisages expanding the capabilities of intelligence structures to conduct operations outside Germany. The proposals have already drawn criticism from human rights activists, who fear that expanding the powers of the intelligence services could lead to additional risks to the confidentiality and data protection of German citizens.

- In January 2026, the overdue debt of the Defence Procurement Agency amounted to 45.8 billion UAH, writes Clash Report.
- Ukraine's Ministry of Defence attributed the debt increase to expired contract deadlines and damage to defence industry enterprises.
- By July, the debt volume was reduced roughly threefold - to 14.6 billion UAH.
- Meanwhile, 11.2 billion UAH remain frozen in legal disputes, and the weapons purchased with these funds never made it to the front, according to the publication.

U.S. military officials say Iran deployed a drone swarm in an area penetrated by American fighters, allowing Iranian forces to determine the F-15E’s location, speed, and direction before engaging it. The aircraft’s defensive systems gave its crew only about half a second of warning before impact.
Both crew members ejected. The pilot was recovered quickly, while the weapons systems officer evaded Iranian forces for nearly two days before being rescued by U.S. Special Operations forces.

The Ukrainian side claims that the AFU are currently focused on strikes on the western part of Kupyansk, where Russian control is gradually tightening. The extent of Russian control - whether it is scaled or fragmented - is unknown, as Russian troops are present but not everywhere. However, judging by the fact that AFU strikes are mainly carried out by drones, and videos of Ukrainian infantry activity are practically absent, the Ukrainian side has more problems than successes there. This was achieved, not least, by cutting off Ukrainian logistics in this area, which was almost entirely shifted to small transport and ground robotic systems.

FSB Director Bortnikov held a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee in Moscow, focusing on protecting fuel-energy complex facilities. Priority tasks were set to enhance effectiveness amid the changing operational environment.
Bortnikov emphasized that large-scale efforts are underway to counter threats, as the enemy intensifies attacks, often bypassing defenses and striking infrastructure both near combat zones and in the rear.
Ukrainian special services are upgrading drones, recruiting Russians for sabotage, and sending saboteurs. Since the start of the year, 49 sabotage-terrorist acts on transport and 17 on fuel-energy facilities were prevented, 150 individuals detained, and 3 infiltration attempts thwarted.

Rozetka distribution center in Brovary: ~3.14 billion hryvnia, plus billions in goods lost. PUMA Ukraine inventory: over 621 million hryvnia destroyed. Ranok publishing: ~8 million books lost, 1 billion hryvnia in preliminary damages.
Rozum warehouse: over 200,000 board games fully destroyed, 25–30 million hryvnia. Also damaged: Novaya Pochta, INTERTOP, Novus, Silpo, Epitsentr, Bosch, Toyota, Liqui Moly and others.
Over 400,000 m² of warehouse space destroyed since early July. Total losses likely much higher as not all companies disclosed estimates.
