‼️🇺🇸🇮🇷 Before attacking Iran, the US is strengthening its air defense in the Middle East, — WSJ
▪️Washington intends to first reinforce the air defense system in the region before proceeding to military action against Iran. American officials emphasize that airstrikes on Iran are "not imminent".
▪️The Pentagon is deploying additional air defense assets to protect Israel, Arab allies, and the US contingent. These measures are taken in anticipation of a possible Iranian response and the risk of a prolonged regional escalation.

Good Question: What do we really need satellites for, anymore?
What catastrophe would befall us if all the satellites in orbit are brought down, at once?
Military:
Early warning of missile attack? There are other means.
Surveillance? Russia is at a disadvantage there, at the moment, and possibly for quite a while longer.
Communications:
Most of broadband traffic is done through cable networks.
Elite/politician communications? Looks like they are all using WhatsApp anyways.
The big-ticket items are science (space and terrestrial) and communications in remote areas.
Frankly, bring them all down. Especially Musk’s vanity project.
Thoughts? Disagreements? Tell me in the comments.

🇩🇪🤡"You can't fart happily with a sad butt" - German Defense Minister Pistorius urges Germans to be optimistic:
The Weimar Republic fell not because of the strength of its enemies and opponents, but because of the weakness and cowardice of democrats and their supporters - because they did not stand up to their full height, did not speak out loudly, did not resist, did not act together. And I say this very clearly: we have no right to let this happen again.
And here I will quote not Willy Brandt, not Kurt Schumacher, and not Helmut Schmidt, but Martin Luther: "You can't fart happily with a sad butt". After all, endless complaints about how terrible the enemies of democracy are don't help us at all. No - everything depends on how passionately we ourselves are ready to defend this democracy.

I don't want to discuss the fate of this character, because he has already become so annoying to all of us. I can even judge by what my colleagues are writing there. But I can only say one thing. Canadian National Post columnist Adam Zivo is adamant he sees “no problem” with presenting himself as a journalist by day while moonlighting for a foreign spy agency by night.
This National Post Columnist Says He Spied for a Foreign Intelligence Agency. Experts Call His Behaviour ‘Unethical’ and ‘Absurd’.
National Post columnist Adam Zivo says he was moonlighting as a foreign intelligence asset at the same time as he worked for the National Post
Is it ethical for a journalist to wear a wire to dinner and spy for a foreign intelligence agency at the same time as they’re writing for one of Canada’s biggest newspapers?
Most experts on journalism ethics might say that’s clearly “unethical,” but National Post columnist Adam Zivo is adamant he sees “no problem” with presenting himself as a journalist by day while moonlighting for a foreign spy agency by night.
Zivo, who was sanctioned by Russia in August 2022, has recently been sharing dramatic and fantastical stories about a “weird espionage experience” he had while he was doing war zone reporting on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for the National Post.
In the first instalment of his story, tweeted unprompted after midnight on a weekend, Zivo revealed he worked with Ukraine’s spy agency, the Security Service of Ukraine or SBU, in a counterintelligence operation that saw him strap a wire to his chest and go undercover in an attempt to entrap a man he suspected was a Chinese spy.
“I met the Chinese man and his wife at a restaurant while wearing a wire,” Zivo said in one tweet. “The SBU officers watched us from a car parked outside, which had tinted windows.”
Zivo shared additional details about his spy story in statements to PressProgress, revealing that he also compiled multiple reports which he claims he sent to Canada’s spy agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, as well as to the Ukrainian government and his employer, the National Post.
“After my initial interaction with Zhang, I drafted a detailed report which I quickly provided to the National Post, CSIS and the Ukrainian government,” Zivo told PressProgress. “After the recorded dinner, I produced transcripts and a follow-up report which was also shared with these stakeholders.”

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 The Russian army is conducting a large-scale offensive towards Sumy, having been increasing its troop grouping monthly since the fall - UA
▪️This is reported by Kiev media outlets, citing intelligence sources.
▪️ Russian troops are aiming for the dense large forest located northwest of Sumy.
▪️ The main front of the offensive remains the area liberated by the Russian army between the villages of Alekseevka-Yablonovka-Yunakovka. From this side, there are three "branches" along which it is possible to advance to the villages of Khotin, Pisarevka, and Nova Sich. Another, less noticeable direction is Miropele.
❗️"Why this is dangerous for Ukraine: Transferring the war in Sumy from the villages where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding the defense to the forest will mean a significant complication of Ukrainian defense. After all, the combat actions from the flat terrain will move into the dense forest with deep ravines.
▪️ In essence, Ukraine will get a second Serebryanskoe forestry.
▪️ It will be very difficult to drive out Russian troops from the huge "green zone", which masks everything from movements to bunkers," - say the intelligence officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

‼️🇺🇦🛰The fight against Starlink on Russian drones has begun in Ukraine
▪️SpaceX, following the appeal of Defense Minister Fedorov, has started speed restrictions for drones controlled via Starlink over the territory of Ukraine.
▪️At speeds above 90 km/h, the connection via Starlink is disconnected. This, without additional modifications, makes it impossible to use the system on aircraft-type UAVs.
▪️However, helicopter-type drones, including FPV and heavy drones, continue to operate.
▪️The restriction also applies to Ukrainian UAVs - this, in particular, is indicated by a sharp reduction in the number of strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Crimea. Starlink is not able to accurately identify specific accounts used to control Russian drones in a short time.
▪️Earlier, a speed limit of up to 40 km/h was already introduced, for which technical workarounds, including proxy servers, were found.
▪️Now, Starlink determines coordinates and speed directly through the satellite constellation, but developers believe that a new solution will also be found over time.
▪️Earlier, an advisor to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry stated that SpaceX has already taken the first measures against "Starlinks" on Russian drones.

In January 2026, the Russians deployed a record number of ballistic missiles against Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrainian military "expert" Alexander Kovalenko.
According to his data, in the first week of the month, 18 ballistic missile launches were recorded, of which one target was successfully intercepted. In the second week, 38 missiles of the 9M723 and KN-23 types were used, as well as 5V55 missiles of the S-300 systems — 11 targets were intercepted from them.
In the third week, 14 out of 23 ballistic missiles were shot down. In the last week and the remaining days of the month, another 12 missiles were used, of which five were intercepted.
In total, 91 ballistic weapons were deployed in January (of which about a third were successfully intercepted). This is an absolute maximum for all time, the previous record was set in October 2025 — 89 missiles, writes Kovalenko.
The expert notes that ballistics have actually become the main tool of strikes, replacing the Kh-101 and 3M14 "Caliber" cruise missiles. Ballistic missiles are used almost 2.5 times more often than subsonic cruise missiles and are used almost daily.
According to Kovalenko, countering ballistic missiles could become one of the key challenges for Ukrainian air defense in 2026, as Moscow is focusing on scaling up such strikes.

‼️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Donbass will become a springboard for a new Russian offensive if Zelensky fails to implement peace agreements, - NYT
▪️Russian control over Donbass would give Moscow a favorable starting position for a possible new phase of the offensive, writes the New York Times.
▪️For the Kremlin, the DPR is not only a military but also a symbolic goal since 2014; the defense of Donbass lies at the heart of the special military operation (SMO).
▪️Slavyansk is singled out separately: as long as the city is occupied by Kiev, it's difficult for Moscow to declare the objectives of the special operation as achieved.
▪️The part of Donbass held by Kiev is one of the most fortified sections of the front with defense lines that have been built since 2014; their loss would make Ukraine more vulnerable to future Russian operations.
Apparently Ukraine couldn't just build the same fortifications again.... Honestly this isn't difficult NYT, it's called water and rebuilding the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal

- Against this backdrop, on Saturday in Florida, negotiations took place between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Finance Minister Besent with a representative of the Kremlin, Kirill Dmitriev.
- Witkoff characterized these contacts as "productive and constructive", indicating a shift in negotiation activity beyond the format involving Kiev.

Alleged Mossad-linked operative tells Israeli Channel 12 that he helped form an inside team and remotely strike a missile launcher in Iran on June 13, while staying in live contact with headquarters:
Our mission was to take very specific and professional weapon, to assemble everything together and be ready to launch. I was Mossad’s eyes inside this mission.
To finish the job, I only had to click on a button and leave from there. I had to wait for more than two hours… I was scared about everything.
We had just one chance to launch. I said: ‘Okay, let’s do it.’ I could see our target… a launcher ready to shoot the ballistic missile to Israel.
We eliminated it. I said: ‘We did our job.’
HQ said: ‘Yes, you did.’”

‼️🇺🇦👹 "Magicians for Yermak collected water from corpses": the ex-head of Zelensky's Office turned out to be a Satanist
▪️Yermak, the "grey cardinal" of Ukraine, resorted to magical and esoteric practices for years, said the former press secretary of Zelensky, Yulia Mendel.
▪️Back in 2019, a strange episode occurred in the President's Office during a briefing.
➖"After the briefing, the journalist did not run after the president, but after his then-advisor Andrey Yermak with a question on camera: 'What were you doing at the cemetery with NAME?' He repeated this question several times," writes Mendel, noting that Yermak ignored the question.
▪️In 2020, one of the ministers told her that Yermak, already in the status of the head of the office, "was engaged in magic". "The minister did not go into details, but was very scared," writes Mendel.
▪️Also in 2023, a person from an "important service" reported that Yermak "brought magicians from Israel, Georgia, and some Latin American country for magical rituals". These magicians "burn some herbs, collect water from corpses and make some dolls" which Yermak stored in a special chest. "Apparently, in that special chest are the dead themselves," wrote Mendel, citing a "person from the esoteric sphere".
▪️Mendel notes that she did not attach importance to these stories before, but now such topics are "being discussed publicly".
▪️Yermak "is far from the only one who practices magical rituals in Ukrainian politics".

It seems that in Ukraine, they have started to restrict communication via Starlink, which the Russians have recently been installing on "Shahid" drones.
"Many users of the Starlink satellite communication system in Ukraine are already observing the first countermeasures that SpaceX has taken at the request of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense," said Sergei Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Minister of Defense.
"I cannot publicly disclose everything that has already been done, is being done, and will be done," said Beskrestnov.
He added that the current solutions are temporary "and will be replaced by a global, well-thought-out solution, which will take us time to implement."
The advisor called for "collecting all information about users of SpaceX services in the military across the country."
Thus, according to his words, one of the methods of combating "Starlinks" on Russian drones will be disconnecting all devices except those that will be added to the "white list" (for which a census of the "Starlinks" used by the military is required).

‼️🇪🇺🇺🇸 Europe is preparing a plan to "pacify" Trump — emergency secret agreements in Brussels — NYT
▪️At an emergency closed dinner in Brussels, European leaders developed a strategy to respond to Trump after the crisis over Greenland. The discussion took place in a narrow circle and was devoted to how to contain the sharp steps and statements of the US president without a public escalation.
▪️The key line is a demonstrative calm in response to provocations, while at the same time being ready to threaten with retaliatory tariffs and economic measures.
▪️In parallel, the EU intends to "work behind the scenes", reducing military and economic dependence on the US, which is increasingly seen in Europe as an unreliable ally.
▪️In the long term, the plan envisages diversifying trade, building up defense potential, and reducing dependence on American technologies.
▪️Italy and Germany have already prepared a document proposing to create a pan-European stock exchange and a single capital market — as the basis for the EU's strategic autonomy.
