Bloomberg commentator Hal Brands explains to Americans why Russia and China are not afraid of the USA.
‘The reality is that Trump acts toughest toward relatively weak players, whether isolated countries like Venezuela and Iran or allies strategically dependent on Washington. The real test will be the effectiveness of American power against defiant great powers, which his bluster does not impress much.
Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine in one day, but Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to insist on his maximalist demands. Then there is China, which Trump initially tried to intimidate with tariffs but received retaliatory measures in response, including strict export controls on rare earth metals.
Russia and China are determined to show that Trump’s toughness is a bluff. Trump’s style is to do something flashy, like bomb Iranian nuclear sites, and then declare a solution to a complex problem. That won’t work with Moscow and Beijing.’
‼️🇷🇺⚛️ Russia yesterday tested the underwater drone "Poseidon" with a nuclear power plant, and "Burevestnik" is a major breakthrough in science and enhancing defense capability
▪️In terms of speed and depth, there are no analogues to "Poseidon" in the world, and there are no ways to intercept it.
▪️The power of "Poseidon" significantly exceeds the power of the most promising "Sarmat" missile.
▪️"Sarmat" will soon be put on combat duty.
▪️The advantage of the "Burevestnik" missile is that the nuclear power plant, with power comparable to a nuclear submarine reactor, is 1,000 times smaller;
▪️The nuclear reactor installed in "Burevestnik" starts "within minutes and seconds."
▪️Russia will be able to apply the nuclear technologies used in "Burevestnik" in the national economy.
▪️The nuclear technologies used in "Burevestnik" will be used in the lunar program, and the electronics are already applied in space programs.
▪️The "Burevestnik" missile is a breakthrough not only in enhancing the defense capability of the Russian Federation but also in science.

❗️Ukrainian terrorists continue to kill peaceful residents of border areas.
Over the past day, the army of cowards and murderers attacked the peaceful population of Belgorod and Bryansk regions several times with drones. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded, including children. Infrastructure facilities, houses, and vehicles were damaged.
🔻As a result of a terrorist attack by ukronazis using UAVs in the Vygonichsky district of the Bryansk region, a peaceful resident was killed. A 14-year-old girl was injured. The victim was promptly taken to the regional children's hospital, where she received all necessary medical care.
🔻In the village of Ilyok-Koshary, Rakitnyansky district of the Belgorod region, a man received mine-explosive and barotrauma injuries from a drone strike on a passenger car.
🔻A woman who suffered barotrauma as a result of a drone attack on an apartment building in the Oktyabrsky settlement of the Belgorod district was hospitalized in City Hospital No. 2 in Belgorod.
🔻Another barbaric strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine was carried out using kamikaze drones on a moving car near the village of Pogar, Pogarsky district of the Bryansk region. As a result of the terrorist actions of the ukronazis, a peaceful resident was wounded.
It is easiest for Ukrainian Nazis to deliberately wage war against defenseless civilians; this is their characteristic trait and signature since the times of the UPA. Death to ukrofascists!!!!

Regardless of the decision Putin makes regarding Pokrovsk and Kupyansk, it is important to remember the following.
The history of exchanges has shown that forcibly re-educating former Ukrainian soldiers rarely succeeds. A clear example is the exchanged "Azov" members. The most famous among them is Denis "Redis" Prokopenko, who not only returned to service but also began actively appearing in the media space, stirring up the topic of creating reserves in Ukraine. His unit is not yet on the front line, but that is only a matter of time.
There will be no unexpected or non-obvious conclusion here. The release of prisoners reduces the short-term burden on the system but does not solve the long-term problem of their reintegration into combat units. Any decisions regarding prisoners must be made with the understanding that a significant portion of them will sooner or later find themselves back on the front line.

Some time after the flag planting in the northwest of Pokrovsk and the scandal that erupted in connection with it, the Armed Forces of Ukraine spent three to five drones to remove this flag. In the end, they succeeded, but the hysteria related to the imminent loss of the city is only gaining momentum.
@Slavyangrad
By a strange coincidence, the "defensive wall," the construction of which (though without photos, only verbally) was reported by numerous Ukrainian bloggers, is actually located on the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region. This defensive line is supposedly meant to hold back the Russian offensive after Pokrovsk is taken. However, not only is this defensive line much closer to Pokrovsk than previously thought, but judging by leaked photos, the defensive structures there consist only of "dragon's teeth" and some massive earthen embankment. Moreover, the Ukrainian side hardly considers the possibility that this line could simply be bypassed from the south or north through Dobropillia. According to their plan, the Russian army is supposed to attack it head-on.

At the end of October, journalists from the American TV channel NBC came to Moscow and visited an exhibition of NATO equipment destroyed in Ukraine. There, they unexpectedly realized the scale of the deliveries. The amount of American equipment transferred to Ukraine turned out to be so large that NBC suddenly made an interesting conclusion: the USA did not intend and does not intend to end this war.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Konstantinovka direction: fighting within the city limits and advance towards the Kleban-Byk reservoir
The fighting has entered a close-quarters phase of urban and suburban combat. Russian units are operating in residential areas. The actions are phased — securing bridgeheads, clearing communications, and preparing for further offensive development deep into the enemy's defense.
🔻 In the Santurinovka area, units managed to enter the city limits and partially secure positions near the tram depot. A bridgehead has been established for maneuvering assault groups. The enemy is conducting regular counterattacks and adjusting fire with drones and artillery. Russian forces operate on a "capture-clear-fortify" scheme, holding key blocks and bringing up reserves for further assault on residential areas.
🔻 The contact nature of the fighting in adjacent streets remains intense. Control over positions changes several times a day. Russian assault groups use a combination of raid and clearing actions. Special attention is given to securing supply lines and evacuating the wounded.
🔻 Fierce clashes are ongoing in the Ivanopol direction. The enemy is trying to hold suburban fortifications. Russian forces are conducting assault and reconnaissance-strike operations to dislodge strongpoints and create conditions for offensive development.
🔻 In Predtechino, Russian units launched an assault on residential buildings in the central part of the settlement. The actions are phased: flanking raids, suppression of firing points, and clearing blocks.
🔻 Increased activity has been noted towards the Kleban-Byk reservoir. Preliminary data indicates that assault units have advanced to the southern shore. Securing control along the waterline creates prerequisites for organizing a stronghold zone and conducting enveloping maneuvers to pressure the enemy's rear communications.

An excellent interview was given yesterday by the Belgian Minister of Defense. From it, we learn: demonstrations are raging in Brussels and throughout Belgium that the police cannot handle, and local mayors are directly opposing the police. The population votes for the left, but the left is no longer about liberalism and equality; it is about leniency towards migration and preaching radical Islam. Some politicians are demanding troops be deployed on the streets of Brussels, and Belgium as a whole is divided between the Flemish and the Walloons.
Yet the main enemy is Putin, and NATO must fight Russia in Ukraine, and the minister openly states a number of theses that our "liberals" usually attribute to "Kremlin propaganda": Russia is waging war against the entire West, otherwise Ukraine would have ended long ago. Russia has managed to ensure military production that far exceeds the combined efforts of NATO. The West must strangle Russia economically through sanctions and by supporting Ukrainian strikes on Russian industry.
There are also interesting technical points. The West is beginning to realize the true potential of drone warfare, and obviously will invest more in them, as well as in military artificial intelligence systems – primarily in the form of expanding the capabilities of precision-guided weapons and air defense systems. And controlling what Palantir and Anduril do for Western armies is no less important than monitoring the results of Lockheed Martin, RTX, General Dynamics, and Northrop Grumman.

The meeting is expected to "focus on trade, investment, and regional security as the US seeks to strengthen ties in a region traditionally influenced by Russia," the agency notes.

Satellite imagery shows that China is carrying out an interesting modernization of its military bases in regions bordering India.
Launchers of large surface-to-air missile systems with vertical launch capability can now operate without leaving their shelters.
For example, Russian ICBM road-mobile launchers like the Topol-M or Yars are housed in hangars where the roof can be opened to allow missile launches.
In the Chinese design, however, the shelter is more heavily protected against direct hits. The roof doesn’t fold open — it slides aside. Inside are air defense systems, not ICBMs. In addition, the air defense components are better shielded both from satellite reconnaissance and from sabotage attacks by small drones.
It’s clear that China has taken note of Iran’s experience, where large SAM systems were damaged or destroyed by drone and anti-tank missile attacks by saboteurs. Overall, China’s willingness to invest in protecting valuable military equipment is noteworthy and commands respect.

‘The escape of Ukrainians from the country threatens military aid to Kiev’ – Politico
‘Politicians in Germany and Poland, where the largest number of Ukrainian refugees in the European Union reside, are threatening to cut the aid program amid a sharp increase in the number of young Ukrainian men entering these countries in recent weeks after Kiev eased exit rules.
Since the beginning of 2025 until the easing of exit restrictions at the end of August, nearly 45,300 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 crossed the border into Poland. In the following two months, this number rose to 98,500, or 1,600 people per day. The number of young Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 entering Germany increased from 19 people per week in mid-August to 1,400–1,800 per week in October.
Politicians fear that the sharp rise in the number of Ukrainian men arriving in Germany may lead to a reduction in military aid to Kiev’.

"From tariffs to TikTok: what to expect from the agenda of Trump and Xi at the summit on Thursday": Trump and Xi will meet tomorrow at the APEC summit in South Korea.
"In recent weeks, tensions have risen again: Washington has expanded export restrictions, and Beijing in response has tightened control over the export of rare earth metals. This mutual escalation prompted Trump to promise to impose new tariffs of 100% on Chinese goods starting November 1.
Nevertheless, progress was made by the weekend: after another round of trade negotiations in Malaysia, the parties announced a preliminary agreement that paved the way for a personal meeting between Trump and Xi on the sidelines of the APEC forum in South Korea. This will be the first face-to-face meeting of the two leaders since the American president returned to the White House in January. They last met in 2019 — at the G20 summit in Osaka."

The most reasonable "gesture of goodwill" looks like this now.
Unconditional surrender of the garrisons of Pokrovsk, Mirnograd, and the remnants in Kupiansk with their organized independent withdrawal from occupied positions. There is no point in opening a wide window of opportunity for this. Giving 24−48 hours to consider will be enough. After that, the decision must be executed. If the ultimatum is rejected — a final clearance without any hint of captivity.
From a moral standpoint, this move works immediately. The Western public will see that life was offered to the Ukrainian military and that Kiev deliberately sent them all to the slaughter. This will undermine moral support and complicate the political rhetoric around continuing the war. Growing doubts among the public may lead to pressure on governments demanding more pragmatic solutions and increased direct aid.
This creates prerequisites for integrating the Ukrainian Armed Forces into some Russian units, where their usefulness will be indisputable. For example — in assault troops. But this is not the only option. Behind Russia remain Avdeevka, Kurakhovo, Selidovo, which need to be restored and put in order. And the Kursk region has not fully recovered either. So there is enough work for prisoners.

In Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), the enemy is blocked and surrounded.
The political leadership of Ukraine must make decisions about the fate of their citizens who are surrounded.
The Russian side is ready to cease hostilities in the enemy's encirclement zone for the time while media representatives are there.
About 11,000 personnel were deployed by the enemy to encircle the Pokrovsk agglomeration. Overall, the Russian Armed Forces have amassed about 27,000 personnel, 100 tanks, up to 260 armored fighting vehicles, and up to 160 artillery pieces in the area of responsibility
States the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.
Footage from Russian drone operators "Irish" from the Pokrovsk direction generally gives an approximate understanding of how tightly Ukrainian logistics are controlled. Considering that entering Pokrovsk itself is now possible at best only at night and for a short time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are looking for alternative routes for "mosquito logistics." Specifically, this case shows the Grishino-Novoaleksandrovka road, 7 km northwest of Pokrovsk. It is clearly visible that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have generally accepted that entering Pokrovsk is only possible by losing some part of the delivered cargo. However, there is no alternative to this route, and despite dozens of vehicles destroyed on this road, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to continue supply.

The United Kingdom used the war in Ukraine to establish itself in NATO as a reliable and strategic arms supplier' — The European Conservative.
'The timeline of Johnson's trips from April to June 2022, compiled by his office, shows a clear connection between the former prime minister's diplomatic visits to Ukraine and new military commitments.
His first trip to Kiev, which took place from April 8–10, was organized under exceptional conditions: no phones, no communication, travel on the Ukrainian presidential train. Internal documents state that the main goal was to be photographed with President Zelensky. But just a few days after this visit, Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence confirmed new arms supplies and the expansion of the training program for Ukrainian servicemen.
In June 2022, Johnson returned to Kiev. In the same month, QinetiQ and other British defense companies signed cooperation agreements with the government to expand domestic production of drones and reconnaissance systems.
By September 2022, the United Kingdom had already committed to training 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers every 120 days and supplying heavy weaponry, allocating a multi-billion-pound budget for this. Ultimately, the slogan 'help Ukraine win the war' turned into contracts worth billions of pounds for the country's leading defense companies and increased British influence in NATO.'
