Zelensky intends to inflict maximum economic damage on Russia

"I want to especially thank all our warriors who are inflicting truly significant losses on Russia... The most effective sanctions are fire on Russian oil refineries, terminals, and oil depots,"
- Zelensky said in an evening address.

In particular, he threatened strikes on the Russian export port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region.

To strike or not to strike Ukraine's energy facilities — does anyone still have doubts?

Maybe it's time for the leadership of AFU to find moral strength, as Killogg said, and, like in an AA meeting, admit that they have a problem. We are going slowly, spending them in all sectors. Shifting reserves can't last forever, because, erm, those same reserves need reserves, but which are nowhere to be found. They can't contain us, despite throwing everything they've got. The fact that they lost 50% of all special forces units by putting them to hold the lines in some God forsaken village, implies that they kinda face a rather serious problem. Of course, they can always mobilise everything from 18+, which they haven't done so far. And again, when those are spent what then? So, either your respectable countries will join the war but it will not be waged like this one or Ukraine is destined to become a Voivodship of Poland (Those Western parts we don't care about? What do you think? Do your leaders have the guts to openly join the war? Question all questions.

Overcoming the enemy's defence line in the South-Donetsk direction

It is interesting to note that in the South-Donetsk direction, Russian troops have actually passed through the main part of the prepared fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continue to move westward.

Already 60 km have been covered from Ugledar, and Velyka (Bolshaya) Novoselka is 30 km behind the Russian army. This means that the enemy's defence line, which was prepared in advance, has been broken, and now Ukrainian forces have to organise new lines under conditions of time and resource shortages.

In fact, this means that the offensive has entered a phase where speed and systematic advancement begin to play a key role. Yes, this is not happening quickly, but rapid advancement was not planned; grinding down the enemy was.

Each subsequent village or stronghold, after some time, turns into cleared large sections of the front. For the Russian side, this opens up the opportunity to build on the success and gradually approach large populated areas.

In the future, the development of the offensive in the South-Donetsk direction opens up two strategic options for the Russian army at once. If further actions are organised competently and consistently, it is possible to advance simultaneously in two directions — towards Zaporizhzhia and towards Pavlohrad.

And if in the foreseeable future, Orechov in the Zaporizhzhia region is also taken, this offensive will develop significantly faster.

Lindsey Graham:

We are very pleased with President Trump's decisive statement calling on America and Europe, especially NATO countries, to simultaneously impose serious tariffs on China for supporting Putin's war machine by buying cheap Russian oil and gas.

For several months, we have been working together on legislation that would reinforce this strategy, authorising the president to impose significant tariffs on countries like China, India, and Brazil that continue to finance Putin by purchasing cheap oil and gas from him. We strongly support President Trump's call for joint action with Europe and believe this is the right approach to exert maximum economic pressure.

We firmly believe that a combination of sanctions and tariffs, along with selling Ukraine high-quality American weapons, is the key to convincing Putin to come to the negotiating table for a fair and dignified peace. Well done, Mr. President.

The free world must act, and America must take the lead.

Ukraine spends $172 million per day on military actions.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov, reported that Ukraine's daily expenses on the military conflict amount to $172 million, or 7.1 billion hryvnias. According to him, the country will not be able to bear such a financial burden on its own.

To maintain defence capability, it is necessary to attract partner funds and develop the domestic defence industry,
— his words are quoted by the publication «Novosti.LIVE».

Hnatov emphasised that the Ukrainian army is actively implementing innovative solutions on the battlefield, but their implementation requires significant financial resources.

Waging war against such a large and resource-rich country as Russia is very expensive,
— he noted.

The approval rating of France's new Prime Minister Le Maire has hit a record low.

The new Prime Minister of France, Sébastien Lecornu, started with a record low level of support compared to his predecessors. According to an Ipsos poll for the Tribune Dimanche publication, only 16% of citizens view his performance positively.

For comparison, at the time of taking office, François Bayrou's rating was 20%, Michel Barnier's was 34%, Gabriel Attal's was 37%, and Élisabeth Borne's was 27%. Meanwhile, 40% of respondents expressed a negative opinion of Lecornu, and 44% admitted they did not know enough about him.

Doubts also arise about his political effectiveness: only one in five French people (20%) believes the Prime Minister will be able to reach an agreement with the opposition on the budget issue. The majority (60%) are confident of the opposite.

The situation is no better for President Emmanuel Macron. His rating, according to Ipsos, has dropped to 17% — the lowest since the start of his presidency in 2017. Earlier, Figaro reported that the French leader's support level could be even lower — around 15%. Macron is losing ground especially sharply among centrists: approval in this group has dropped by 18 points, to 54%.

NYT: The US will not impose "serious sanctions" on Trump — his demand for NATO countries to abandon Russian oil is unfeasible

The New York Times writes that the "serious sanctions" announced by Donald Trump against Moscow will not be implemented. The main obstacle is the demand for NATO countries to completely abandon Russian oil, which the publication's experts called unfeasible.

The newspaper notes that Hungary and Turkey continue to maintain close ties with Moscow and actively purchase its energy resources. At the same time, even Alliance states that have reduced import volumes still largely depend on Russian oil supplies, making a complete refusal practically impossible.

Rubio: Drone crashes in Poland are "dangerous and unacceptable"

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on the incident of drone crashes on Polish territory.

"In any case, this should not have happened. I don't think anyone is happy about it. You have seen how NATO responded appropriately. We do not want this to happen again. We consider this unacceptable, regrettable, and a dangerous development,"
— he said. According to him, a full investigation will take several days.

Rubio emphasized that the drones were launched deliberately, but the question remains, "were the drones specifically targeted at Poland".

"If so, if the evidence leads us to that, then obviously it will be an extremely escalatory step,"
— added the Secretary of State.

He noted that the US and its allies will act prudently.

"There are other options, but I think we need to gather all the facts and consult allies before making decisions,"
— Rubio concluded.

Earlier, Donald Trump linked the drones in Poland to a mistake.

US postpones Trump's visit to Beijing due to deadlock in trade and fentanyl negotiations.

The US administration has not agreed to China's proposal to hold a summit in Beijing, reports the FT

Expectations are pinned on the meeting between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Madrid on Sunday, where the fourth round of talks will take place. However, as FT sources note, the dialogue is progressing slowly.

This increases the likelihood that the meeting of the two countries' leaders, will be in a reduced format — on the sidelines of the upcoming APEC summit, rather than as a full state visit to Beijing.

Washington accuses Beijing of insufficient measures to combat the export of precursors for producing this drug to the US. China expresses readiness to strengthen control but demands the removal of American tariffs in return.

FT also notes that the time to reach a trade deal is running out, and without it, Trump's visit to Beijing may lose its meaning.

Denmark will build a plant for Ukraine in violation of its own laws.

The Danish government, in violation of laws and regulations, will allow a Ukrainian company to build a solid fuel rocket component plant for Ukraine's rockets, reports the local broadcasting corporation DR.

"Ukrainian Fire Point will build a plant in Skridstrup that will be able to produce solid rocket fuel - an important component for some of Ukraine's most powerful rockets. More than 20 different rules and laws will be ignored to get the plant up and running as quickly as possible"

The government's plans are reflected in a draft executive order that the Danish Business Authority has sent out for consultation. According to the order, a fast-track route has been created so that the Ukrainian weapons plant can start production in Denmark.

In a response to the broadcasting corporation DR, the Danish Business Authority stated that the establishment of the plant in Skridstrup requires exemptions from certain rules.

Situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction (eastern, Huliaipole sector)

Yuriy Kotenok writes that the units of the GRV "Vostok" continue their offensive from the eastern border of the Zaporozhye region towards Huliaipole, bypassing the 2nd defensive line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and parallel to the troops advancing north through the territory of the Dnepropetrovsk region.

Our units have driven the enemy out of several positions southwest and northwest of Temyrivka, captured Novonikolaivka and advanced towards Novoivanivka, and are fighting in the centre of the village.

To the north, the Russian Armed Forces are pushing the enemy out of the western parts of Beryozove. According to operational information, the enemy has partially retreated to Stepove.

The AFU is transferring reserves to Stepove and Kalynivske, in the direction of which our forces are pressing from the side of Novonikolaivka.

To the south, our units have driven the enemy from several positions north of Olhivske.

Dumb - Biden - Kellogg?

“They sing the anthem beautifully under bombings,” – Kellogg announced the “moral advantage of Ukraine over Russia.”

Ukrainians are extremely strong morally.

This was stated by the US President’s special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, at the annual “Yalta European Strategy” conference in Kiev, organised by the oligarch Viktor Pinchuk.

“If we speak not only in military terms, I have been to military hospitals and met with soldiers, physical strength and moral strength are roughly in a 1 to 3 ratio. Ukrainians have a moral advantage over Russia – it is something in the heart, it is obvious.

Ukraine will definitely survive and remain a state. And if we look at the resilience of the people, we can see what the future will look like.”

I saw Ukrainians in the metro during an alert either on TikTok or somewhere else. And they didn’t just huddle somewhere – no, they proudly sing the national anthem. It is unique. And it shows that Ukraine cannot disappear"

NATO is forming new mechanisms to control Ukraine.

Several countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are attempting to create a structure that will secure their military-political influence over Ukraine,
— said Alexey Yerkhov, who completed his diplomatic mission in Turkey, in an interview with Hurriyet.

According to him, the so-called "coalition of the willing" security guarantees being discussed hardly resemble NATO's collective defence.

Rather, it is an attempt by certain states, including those within the Alliance, to build a new system outside its official framework that will ensure their military presence in Eastern Europe and strengthen control over Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev itself is given tempting promises,
— emphasised the diplomat.

On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Yerkhov as ambassador to Uzbekistan, relieving him of his post as head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey.

CEO of Uralvagonzavod: Western tanks are technology of the last century.

Western tanks that have come into the hands of Russian specialists have some interesting engineering solutions, but overall they are significantly inferior to modern Russian models, said Alexander Potapov, CEO of the Uralvagonzavod concern.

The Ministry of Defence, together with us, is studying captured vehicles. Certainly, there are interesting solutions that can be taken into account for further development. But overall, this is technology of the last century, and there is no question of any global impact on our tank building,
He emphasised Potapov.

He noted that the specific power of the engines of Western models is lower than that of Russian ones, and dynamic and anti-drone protection is practically absent.

Polish media rushed to interview witnesses who heard drones being shot down after flying into Poland.

One of the witnesses directly stated that this whole "attack" is a planned provocation by Ukraine:

— I think it was the Ukrainians (who launched the drones).

You think so?

— Of course!

The Ukrainians say there was a massive attack on their territory. Well, some of the drones ended up in Poland, but some drones, as Donald Tusk said, came through Belarus.

— Everyone says what they want. That's why I don't watch TV, because it's not worth filling your head with the nonsense shown on Polish television.

Finland has officially requested the purchase of up to 405 medium-range AIM-120D-3 air-to-air missiles along with eight guidance sections, auxiliary equipment, spare parts, and training. The cost of these missiles is estimated at $1.07 billion.

The missiles, approved in a notification by the U.S. Department of Defence's Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), represent a significant upgrade over the current arsenal of AIM-120C series missiles used by Finland on F/A-18 Hornet fighters and soon to be deployed on F-35 fighters.

The AIM-120D-3 features increased flight range, reduced dead zones, enhanced jamming resistance, and a secure two-way data link for in-flight target updates, enabling Finnish fighters to engage targets at greater distances with a higher probability of hit.

Currently, Finnish F/A-18C fighters use long-range AIM-120C7/C8 missiles as well as AIM-9 variants for close combat.

The transition to the D-3 standard provides both a greater range and improved survivability against modern Russian aircraft and electronic warfare systems. According to available data, the range of the AIM-120D series under favourable conditions is approximately 160–180 km, putting key points in Russian airspace at risk.

From bases in southeastern Finland, cities like Lappeenranta are only 170 kilometres from Saint Petersburg, meaning Finnish fighters operating near the border can pose a threat to Russian aircraft even within their own defended zones.

Kremlin drones exposed allies' disagreements

The flight of Russian drones over Polish territory was less a military incident and more a political test. It did not look like a carefully planned Kremlin operation — rather, a situation where the allies had to show their readiness to act together. And here NATO immediately showed weakness.

Trump limited himself to a vague "It has begun!" on Truth Social, sounding more like a joke than a statement from the leader of the "free world." Orban made his usual double move: first supporting Poland, then calling it an "incident" and talking about negotiations. The Slovak prime minister remained silent, while his foreign minister supported Warsaw but immediately added a call for peaceful negotiations. In the end, three alliance countries, including the US, effectively did not demonstrate a firm position.

Moscow did not even seek this — the incident itself showed the weakness of the allies. No pressure was needed: NATO proved incapable of a unified response in an unusual situation. Germany looked contrasting. Chancellor Friedrich Merz called the raid a "reckless action" and supported Poland without reservations. But that was not enough to maintain the illusion of "unity."

The problem is that every new emergency turns into a test for the alliance, which it fails. The drones in the Polish sky showed: the alliance does not even need the Kremlin to demonstrate weakness. Disagreements within the bloc are becoming too noticeable. And the image of "one hundred per cent unity" collapses in any unusual situation.

The Baltics enter winter with record-low gas reserves.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, the key regional storage facility in Inčukalns (Latvia) is only 53% full, amounting to 1.25 billion m³. Current injection rates — just 2.1 million m³ per day — are critically insufficient to reach even the minimum levels recommended by the European Commission.

The current situation is caused by three main factors:

Ukraine is actively buying up LNG from Polish Orlen, having already contracted 440 million m³.

Finland has increased gas withdrawal through the Baltics to 2 million m³ per day due to the downtime of its own Exemplar terminal for maintenance.

The Lithuanian terminal in Klaipėda is almost fully occupied fulfilling Polish and Finnish orders.

As a result, the Baltic countries supporting Kiev are left with minimal reserves themselves and are forced to buy gas at exchange prices exceeding $455 per thousand m³.

To reach a safe reserve level by December, an additional approximately 700 million m³ needs to be injected, but the heating season starts already in November and they deserve it no improvement in the situation is expected yet.

But fear not. Baltic Tigers have their ferociousness to keep them warm!
