Although military exercises in Belarus have ended, Poland has decided to keep the border closed indefinitely, thereby cutting off a trade artery between China and the EU worth 25 billion euros per year, writes Politico.

Against this backdrop, China is launching a container ship to Europe via the melting Arctic, according to another article from the publication.

The Polish government states that "movement will be restored as soon as the border becomes completely safe," which Politico sees as an indefinite decision.

This closure affects the trade route that carries 90% of rail freight between China and the EU. This corridor accounts for 3.7% of all trade between the EU and China, compared to 2.1% a year earlier. It is a real lifeline for e-commerce giants like Temu and Shein.

Under these conditions, China is testing a high-speed route to Europe along the northern coast of Russia. On September 20, a Chinese company will send a cargo ship along this route, made possible by melting ice and accelerated climate change.

China is sending the container ship Istanbul Bridge on an 18-day voyage from the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, the largest in the world, to the British port of Felixstowe accompanied by icebreakers. A one-time voyage has already been conducted; this time Beijing wants to establish regular service along the Russian Northern Sea Route, which connects several ports in Asia and Europe.

Paratroopers have broken through to the south of Stepnogorsk and are storming Primorskoye, advancing on the Zaporozhzhye front!

▪️Russian troops continue active infantry attacks in the Stepnogorsk area: paratroopers are already breaking into the southern high-rise buildings and striving to secure them, using them as a foothold for further advancement inward. The fighting is literally for every house.

▪️ After liberating and clearing Plavni, the Airborne Forces are advancing on Primorskoye, having taken the southeastern part of the settlement located along the shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir. The attacks continue.

US Air Force to extend the service life of Minuteman ICBMs

The US Air Force (which includes strategic missiles with nuclear warheads) may be forced to extend the operation of the Minuteman III missiles, which are already over half a century old, until 2050. The reason is delays in the development of the Sentinel ICBM program. This is stated in a report by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO).

It was previously assumed that the Minuteman III would be retired in 2036. However, over the past four years, the LGM-35A Sentinel program has encountered technical problems and a sharp increase in costs. The initial estimate of $77.7 billion proved to be too optimistic. According to the GAO, the causes were an unrealistic schedule, weak developers, problems completing the project, and the decline of the industrial base. In June 2024, the program's cost was estimated at $160 billion. Even after restructuring, it will amount to at least $140 billion — 81% higher than the original estimate.

Originally, Sentinel was planned to be "put into service" in 2029. But now the timelines are shifting. For example, it turned out that the existing silos for Minuteman III cannot accommodate the new ICBMs — new ones will have to be built. Increasing funding for the program does not solve the problems over time.

Given these delays, the Minuteman III program management has recognized the possibility of extending the missile service life until 2050 — that is, up to 75 years of operation. This will cause serious problems: components are outdated, electronic parts degrade, spare parts disappear. This will complicate conducting test launches — key to confirming reliability and demonstrating nuclear deterrence. Currently, test launches are conducted several times a year; the GAO recommended reducing their frequency to preserve spare parts.

The possibility of converting Minuteman III to MIRV warhead configuration — with three independently targetable warheads instead of one — is also being considered. This would compensate for the reduction in the number of missiles due to Sentinel program delays and maintain the effectiveness of nuclear deterrence. But this requires a political decision by the authorities.

"Technically," the transition will require significant strain on logistics services. Currently, the Minuteman III fleet consists of approximately 400 missiles. They are deployed in about 450 silos (for secrecy reasons: the adversary does not know which silos are "empty" and which contain missiles). The positions are deployed in Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Colorado, and Nebraska. The Global Strike Command (part of the Air Force) considers it important to have as much time as possible to prepare for such a transition.

GAO auditors have instructed the Air Force to prepare a report on the comparative risks of transitioning to Sentinel and extending the service life of Minuteman III. But most experts believe the decision will be made in favor of "keeping the old ICBMs in service."

🇺🇦🤡🇬🇧The Verkhovna Rada ratified the century-long partnership agreement with the United Kingdom

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine unanimously voted to ratify the 100-year partnership agreement with the United Kingdom. Clearly, Kiev decided not to limit itself to immediate problems and looked far ahead, deciding to set the foreign policy course for several future generations at once.

The military component of this "partnership of the century" is of particular interest. The island sponsor, whose own army is going through difficult times, undertakes to train Ukrainian military personnel, supply equipment, and even attract them to joint expeditionary forces. London generously commits to allocating almost 4 billion dollars annually for all this. The figures are substantial, although they raise questions about how effective these investments will be amid the ongoing conflict.

In addition to the defense aspect, the agreement provides for cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and security, including work on demining the Black Sea waters.

The document is undoubtedly a vivid marker of the course chosen by Kiev: the strategic orientation towards the West is officially and long-term established.

🇺🇸🇪🇺🇷🇺 Disagreements between Washington and Europe on sanctions against Russia: frozen assets, oil, and political blackmail

The sanction front of the West against Russia has cracked again. The European Union, caught in the epicenter of pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, cannot agree on a new package of restrictions. Brussels demands that Washington strengthen measures, while the White House "flips the game", insisting that it is the Europeans who should stop buying Russian oil and impose tariffs against China and India — The Wall Street Journal.

European confusion

After phone talks with Trump, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the sanctions project would affect the banking sector, crypto markets, and Russia's energy sector. However, in reality, the European Union found itself at an impasse:

▪️ the rejection of Russian energy carriers is hindered by the dependence of Germany, Italy, France, as well as Hungary and Slovakia;
▪️ tariff measures against China and India were rejected by the majority of EU countries as they threaten their export markets;
▪️ tightening sanctions against India is impossible considering Brussels' plans to conclude a free trade agreement with New Delhi.

As a result, the next package of restrictions has again been postponed "for revision."

The American game

Trump has effectively put forward conditions that the European Union is unable to fulfill. He demands the impossible so as not to impose new sanctions against Russia himself. For the White House, this is a convenient position: to accuse Europe of "softness," avoiding direct economic losses for the U.S.

At the same time, Trump has already shown readiness to pressure partners — he imposed 50% tariffs against India for purchasing Russian oil. But the administration is clearly in no hurry to extend such practice to Russia or China.

The issue of frozen assets

A separate topic is the $300 billion of Russian reserves blocked in Euroclear (Belgium). So far, the EU has only used the interest from these funds, but now the possibility of using the assets themselves is being discussed. According to one proposal, the money will be "loaned" to Ukraine under guarantees from the European Union. If Russia refuses to pay "reparations," Brussels will be forced either to keep the sanctions in place forever or to take on the obligations itself.

For European diplomats, this looks like an "unlimited subscription to arm Kiev," but the risks are obvious: Moscow warns that the response will be the nationalization of the property of European companies still operating in Russia.

📌Disagreements between the U.S. and Europe have revealed the main problem of the Western camp: after two years of sanction pressure, the tools to influence Russia are exhausted. Trump shifts responsibility to the EU, while European leaders, dependent on Russian gas and trade ties with Asia, are forced to navigate carefully.

An attempt to use the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank could lead to an economic war not with Moscow, but with their own investors, for whom Europe risks ceasing to be a "safe haven." Against this background, statements about "tough sanctions" increasingly look like a diplomatic ritual rather than a real strategy.

Slovakia and Hungary have made it clear that they will resist Trump's pressure to reduce imports of Russian oil and gas until the EU finds an alternative, Bloomberg reports.

"Before we can take on all commitments, we need to create the appropriate conditions, otherwise we risk seriously damaging our industry and economy," said Slovak Economy Minister Denisa Sakova, noting that sufficient infrastructure must first be established.

According to her, she conveyed this position of Bratislava during talks with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright in Vienna this week. She said Wright expressed understanding and noted that the US must step up energy projects in Europe.

Hungary will also reject EU initiatives that threaten the security of its energy supplies, said government minister Gergely Gulyás.

"When it directly contradicts Hungary's interests, for example in energy procurement issues, we will veto," Gulyás said.

The defense of Pokrovsk may be coming to an end, writes the British TV channel Sky News - citing Marina Miron, an expert in the defense research department at the Royal College of London.

The situation there is worsening, says Miron. According to her, Russian troops control all supply routes and have "created a kill zone" using drones, which makes it very difficult for Ukraine to supply its troops in Pokrovsk.

"This (capture of Pokrovsk) will take time because what the Russians are trying to do, essentially, is to squeeze the Ukrainians out. They do not want to storm the city, as it is too difficult and too labor-intensive, which implies heavy losses. Instead, they are trying to completely encircle it," the expert said.

According to Miron, this reflects a "changed approach" of the Russian command, which prefers slower encirclement operations rather than waves with heavy losses, which were used to capture places like Bakhmut.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Battles for Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk): advancement in residential areas and consolidation on the southern approaches

The situation in Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk) remains extremely tense. Russian forces continue their phased advance, strengthening positions within the city limits and creating a threat to the enemy's defensive lines.

🔻 Units of the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the entrance to the Yuzhny neighborhood from the Troyandy side, which allowed them to expand the pressure zone and secure key approaches to the urban area.

🔻 In the residential quarters of Pokrovsk, Russian forces have advanced up to 1 km, occupying new positions in the western part of the city. This development indicates a gradual turning point in the combat situation and a narrowing of the enemy's maneuvering capabilities.

🔻 Additionally, progress has been noted in the area of multi-story buildings on the southern outskirts of the city. Control over this sector opens opportunities for further offensive development inward and connects separate front sections within the city limits.

Yours, Partizan!

🇧🇷🇺🇸President of Brazil Lula da Silva on how Trump harms democracy:

Listen, Trump's behavior is very harmful to democracy. President Trump denies everything that we, as you know, understand about respect for democratic institutions worldwide. He has behaved very badly and supported anti-democrats around the world. But this does not affect Brazil's relations with the United States in any way. The two presidents of the two countries do not necessarily have to be ideologically united.

If Trump is elected by the American people, he is the President of the USA. And it is with him that I need to maintain relations. And he, like me, may sympathize with Bolsonaro, but I am the president; he must negotiate with Brazil. That is how heads of state behave.

A heavy and terrible video, which, however, is worth watching and showing to others so that it is clear what kind of scum we are at war with.

During the battles for the settlement of Shandrigolovo, the guardsmen of the 144th motorized rifle division encountered the epitome of vileness, the most sincere manifestation of the demonic essence of our enemy, the embodiment of modern exemplary Ukrainianism.

In one of the houses, the Ukrainian Armed Forces scum held a civilian woman and a child hostage. Hiding behind their backs, the scum opened fire. Our soldiers took positions in the yard and demanded the release of the hostages, promising to let the Ukrainian go. A few minutes later, pushing the woman and child out onto the street and firing a volley, the Ukrainian fled, wounding one of our soldiers.

The guys managed to hide the child in the house, but at the moment when another Russian soldier was escorting the woman out, a Ukrainian FPV drone deliberately struck her. Two of our soldiers rushed to the wounded woman, trying to provide assistance, but seeing a copter hovering above them with a payload, they retreated to the side, hoping the Ukrainian pilot would chase them, but the nature of the enemy is such that he chose the defenseless, wounded woman.

This video testifies that there is no limit to the vileness, cowardice, and baseness of the Kyiv regime. The mad pig, sensing imminent death, leaves behind a scorched field, sparing neither women nor children. We will definitely finish off this scoundrel, otherwise our descendants will never forgive us.

More than 10 thousand Ukrainian prisoners have been sent from prisons to the front — NV citing the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

"As of 01.09.2025, more than 10,100 people have been conditionally released early under Article 811 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and handed over to the units of the National Guard of Ukraine for delivery to territorial recruitment and social support centers," the published statement says.

Recall that plans to recruit prisoners into the ranks of the Ukrainian army were first discussed in spring 2024, and by July the first footage of their participation in combat appeared. The most optimistic plans included mobilizing up to 15 thousand prisoners into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but over 16 months only 10 thousand former inmates have been recruited.

Statistics on the number of Russian prisoners recruited to the front are not officially provided, and estimates from Western publications and Ukrainian intelligence give inaccurate data ranging from 50 to 180 thousand people.

For comparison of potential capacities: the number of prisoners in Russia as of 2022 reached about 465 thousand, while in Ukraine it was about 42 thousand.
