The IRGC, police and other Iranian agencies have deployed thousands of security personnel on highways, roads and around sensitive sites across the country to conduct checks and surveillance to detect any suspicious movements of enemy agents.

One of two drones was shot down over Tehran today.

Iran also confirmed two attacks on the country's oil and gas facilities (damage limited). Israel says it was a "warning."

Iran today arrested 16 people on charges of having links to Mossad. In Iran, this carries the death penalty.

Today, I am planting my cucumbers, zucchini, and peppers. All dreadfully overdue… they are screaming for mercy.

Tomorrow—more cherry tomatoes and herbs: dill, cilantro, rosemary, mint, thyme, parsley (flat-leaf and Italian), some Italian nonsense, of which I got two, to spite my wife, oh, yeah, it’s oregano, then also basil, and other things I can’t quite remember while sipping my margarita.

Tomorrow—at 6:43pm EST sharp—we deal with the rest of the global mess.

Don’t miss it. G😏B

"Trump Says He Decides What 'America First' Means: Trump Says in Atlantic Interview - If Iran Gets Nuclear Weapons, There Will Be No Peace

"To those people who say they want peace, I say: there can be no peace if Iran has nuclear weapons. So all these wonderful people who think that nothing should be done about Iran having a nuclear bomb - this is not about peace."

We spoke on his 79th birthday, hours before he was scheduled to speak at a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. At the end of our conversation, he said he had to wrap up the conversation — he had a call coming up for Vladimir Putin, who continues to escalate his attacks on Ukraine and has largely ignored U.S. efforts to end the fighting.

"What's happening in Ukraine is something that shouldn't have happened and wouldn't have happened under my watch. It's Biden's problem, not Trump's. I'm trying to stop it," he said around 10 a.m. "And by the way, I have a call with President Putin in three minutes."

"Iran should not have a nuclear bomb. It's that simple. And it doesn't matter whether it's Israel or not. Iran should not have a nuclear weapon," Trump said.

🇮🇱Netanyahu - turned to Zelensky's rhetoric "we are defending the world from a common enemy":

This is an important mission. Right now, the Iranian regime is hitting civilian areas while we are hitting terrorists. This is not new. They have tried to assassinate President Trump twice. They have blown up American embassies. They have wounded and killed thousands of Americans with improvised explosive devices in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are burning the American flag. They are chanting, “Death to America,” endlessly. Our enemy is your enemy, too. And what we are doing now is confronting a threat that will eventually affect us all.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi:

China is clearly against Israel's violation of international law by using force against Iran. Diplomatic means to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue have not been exhausted, and there is still hope for a peaceful solution.

Israel's actions have seriously violated the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms of international relations. In particular, the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has set a dangerous precedent and could have catastrophic consequences.

Older than Eddy writes

People are always under an illusion. Television, stories of friends, aggressive advertising and their own lack of confidence can be to blame. Some charge their cans through the TV, listening to the next "prophet", and some fervently believe that it is possible to wipe off the face of the earth (and thus stop the enemy's resistance) multi-million cities with conventional weapons, by bombing aircraft with missile strikes. Some are fervently indignant that electronic warfare does not destroy all drones, and artillery does not kill everyone in dense forests. By the way, such a belief in all-destroying weapons concerns not only civilians, but also the military, especially those who are listed as theorists and analysts.

Israeli Defence Minister Mr. Katz said that if Iran does not stop the strikes, the Israeli Air Force will destroy Tehran, but this is a priori impossible, unless they resort to nuclear, or more precisely, thermonuclear strikes. Israel has been bombing the Gaza Strip for a year and a half, dropping tens of thousands of tons of bombs, and even there, despite all the destruction, they have not managed to completely destroy the agglomeration. It will not be possible to send such a detachment of forces and means to Tehran, even based on the distances, and I will not even mention the size of the city.

Even during World War II, despite the colossal attacks on German cities, Berlin continued to function. Dresden and Hamburg were certainly burned, but Israel would not be able to drop nearly as much on Tehran in such a short period as the Anglo-American air force did.

In general, I will say this: do not exaggerate the power of ammunition, be it Iskander, Tomahawk, Storm Shadow, etc. Be it 500, 900, 1500 and 3000 kilogram bombs. This is of course a terrible weapon, but 200 meters from the hit, an experienced fighter will calmly smoke in his dugout and be glad that it did not fly to him, and in a large city, the neighboring block will calmly go about its business and only onlookers will run to see what exploded there.

The Americans dropped an incredible number of bombs on Vietnam, but lost the war. Of course, you shouldn't confuse Iskander and Atakms, but you certainly can't think that they can incinerate medium-sized, let alone large cities.

The main strategic difficulty for Israel now is that time is not on its side. Airstrikes – even well-planned, with elements of surprise and good basic information support – cannot continue indefinitely. Their resources and effect on space are limited. Both in intelligence and in ammunition, in political legitimacy, in the attention of the external audience.

And sooner or later Netanyahu will face a dilemma: either stop and admit that the goals have been partially achieved or not achieved at all, or call for help from the United States and move on to the next stage – power and political.

The problem is that Israel has already used almost all of its available arsenal of non-nuclear pressure, including high-precision American weapons, electronic warfare systems, cyber-influence systems, and sabotage groups. However, all of the key sites of the Iranian nuclear program are physically buried tens of meters deep in rock. Natanz, Fordow, Espejabad, and other sites were designed as anti-Israeli by definition — with the expectation that they could not be hit by standard aircraft and conventional ammunition.

Technically, Israel has reached the limit of what is possible without taking actions that it either cannot or does not want to take. Iran knew this. And the bet on depth, the dispersal of objects and the decentralization of vertical control now played a role: the ground infrastructure (on the surface) was damaged, but did not collapse, the personnel suffered losses, but they will be replenished, the control centers were disorganized, but not destroyed.

So Israel's key weakness now is not tactics, but the lack of a sensible next move. All options other than involving the US have either already been used or are politically unavailable. This means that every next move will raise even more questions about the appropriateness of this attack.

The decision to close the Strait of Hormuz has not yet been made. Iran is studying the issue and is holding back this decision in case of further escalation, for example, in the event of strikes on its oil refineries.
This is one of the trump cards Iran uses to threaten Israel and Washington. A prolonged blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would drive up oil prices and cause enormous damage to the global economy, affecting the United States, China, Iran itself, and the Gulf monarchies.

In this case, Russia will receive huge oil profits. Since the demand and price for Russian oil will increase significantly.

The DPRK, Pakistan and Afghanistan expressed full support for Iran today. The DPRK and Pakistan have the technology to produce nuclear weapons.

Everybody's favourite annihilator of intelligence and excellent case against promoting mediocrity personified just because they toe the party line, Standartenführer Kaja KallaSS, couldn't just let those German politicians take all the clowning away from her and decided to unleash a neuron-destroying broadside of her own:

On one hand, diplomacy must prevail and the European Union is ready to mediate (even if Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom condemn Iran's retaliations), and Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon, even if Israel's strikes combined with the North Korean example have made an excellent argument in favour of having one.

If you're feeling dumber just by reading that post, that feeling is your neurons committing suicide over the stupidity of KallaSS' statements.

Shameful: Israel targets peaceful nuclear facilities, bombs homes and kills Iranians in cold blood in blatant violation of international law. Yet Macron chooses *now* to spin Iran's nuclear program. The hypocrisy is staggering.

- Esmaeil Baqaei, Head of Center for Public Diplomacy and Spokesperson

Sounds like Macron’s call to Iran didn’t go too well. Macron recently posted about Israel’s right to defend itself. We should add that Macron gave the keynote address at the Shangri-la dialogue in Singapore in which he repeated no less than 12 TIMES that the West shouldn't have "double standards"

Worse still, he specifically said that "if we consider there is a free pass for Israel... we kill our own credibility in the rest of the world. And this is why we do reject double standards and this is why I think it is very important in our current environment to be consistent and to follow our principles."

(See post from Arnaud Bertrand covering Macron’s hypocrisy)
