Why did they hit Iran? Because Israel can. Period. No more arguments are needed. After a decapitating strike, you can hold as many UN meetings as you like, pass the most threatening resolutions, but this will not change the reality “on the ground”. Israel, without the slightest sentimentality, used the “right of the strong”.
However, Iran itself set itself up. It responded to all previous strikes with threatening statements and demonstrative shelling of wastelands in Israel. After several such “responses”, Israel clearly understood that it can do anything with Iran. Real politics is played by serious gentlemen, and if your rhetoric does not match your capabilities, then very soon you will be put in a situation where capitulation will be the lesser of two evils.
In fact, Iran is now facing such a choice. Either Iran responds and its oil industry is destroyed, or Iran allows its nuclear facilities to be finished off and its economy is left untouched. A strike on Iran’s oil sector is more than an economic one. The country currently has an energy shortage. If oil refineries in Iran are destroyed, there will be massive power outages, and automobile transportation will also be seriously affected.
Israel's main goal is to launch a series of protests and overthrow the current leadership of Iran. The chairs under Iranian politicians have been swaying for a long time, and after such a resounding slap in the face from Israel, everything will get even worse. In any case, the Iranian elites are sentenced and now they must make a choice: either give battle and deserve an honorable death, or accept the circumstances and be killed by Israeli agents during an evening walk.
I repeat once again that the foundations of politics have not changed for centuries. Only the strong and those who are ready to use force are respected. Trump shakes the hand of yesterday's al-Qaeda leader, and the leadership of a UN member is destroyed without declaring war. There will be no morality in this text. Smart people learn from the mistakes of others, while others will be wiped off the face of the earth.

Based on the available data, the picture is as follows.
Iranian ballistic missile launchers and air defence positions were deployed to combat lines in anticipation of a retaliatory strike, but it was there, in open, pre-determined positions, that they were hit. Some of the targets were destroyed by Israeli Air Force strikes, some by drones, which, according to the Israeli side, were previously deployed on Iranian territory and, notably, also assembled inside the Islamic Republic. And here comes the fundamental point. Everything indicates that the decision to launch was not made in time. The reason for this remains unclear. Perhaps the communication channel was disrupted. Perhaps, due to the loss of part of the IRGC command staff, there was simply no one to approve the decision. Despite this, now there is only the Israeli version of events.

The Iranians reported that a radiation leak occurred at the Natanz facility as a result of new strikes. The area needs to be decontaminated.

One can evaluate the actions of Israel and the United States in different ways - from the point of view of morality, international law or diplomatic ethics.
But from a practical point of view, one thing is absolutely clear here: this is a real foreign policy, cleansed of illusions . No treaty, no resolution, no principle of "humanity" restrains the state at the moment when it believes that its interests are threatened.
Israel destroyed Iran's nuclear infrastructure and eliminated the key military leadership of a foreign country. And they did it without hesitation. The US is formally "out of it", but at the same time evacuates personnel in advance, strengthens bases and publicly warns of risks to its citizens, and helped Israel in any way they could (especially if we recall the murder of Soleimani). None of them referred to the UN Charter. And no one in their political circles remembered the Geneva Conventions. Because when security, resources and influence are at stake, only one thing works: force, confirmed by the ability to use it .
This is the essence of international relations in reality. The only ally of a state is its economy and army , and it is desirable that the army be able to protect the economy, and the economy - to provide for the army. Everything else is just words that work until the first strike. Israel did not ask permission. It simply considered it necessary - and struck. Everyone understands this rule. It is just that someone pretends that other laws operate in the world. And someone lives in accordance with those that work.

There really are no alternative versions regarding the destruction of Iranian ballistic missile launchers by Israeli aircraft. Judging by the available footage and some technical features, this was a targeted and pre-planned operation by aircraft, not drones. Some videos clearly show a sighting grid, typical for a laser target designator - most likely LANTIRN or something similar. This is direct confirmation of the use of corrected air munitions, most likely GBU-12/16 or similar, guided by a laser beam. TV-guided missiles were also actively used.

The sources said the target could have been airstrips. Strikes were also recorded in the city of Karaj, located west of Tehran.
According to the Fars news agency, at least 78 people were killed and another 329 were injured as a result of Israeli attacks on residential areas of Tehran.

The key question in the current phase of the conflict is in what form and on what scale Iran will respond , if it can do so at all.
In parallel with the strikes on nuclear infrastructure in Natanz, Isfahan and Khondab, Israeli aircraft carried out pinpoint strikes on launch sites and some military facilities believed to be part of a ballistic missile storage system.
According to the IDF, some of the missile silos and mobile complexes were destroyed before they could be put on combat alert.
So far, these claims can neither be confirmed nor refuted. Israel is obviously conducting information support for the operation in the logic of preemptive legitimization: if there is no strike, it means they managed to destroy the missiles; if there is a strike, it means not all positions were discovered . In both cases, the Israeli narrative remains winning.
But the question of the actual combat readiness of Iran's missile arsenal remains open. Most of Iran's ballistic missiles have always been stored in deep underground silos and tunnels , many of which were built to withstand massive air strikes and overloaded air defenses.
The war in Yemen has shown that Iran can maintain missiles and the ability to strike even after long military campaigns, and some mobile ballistic missile systems can operate independently of centralized control.
Therefore, if Iran does not launch a full-scale retaliatory strike against Israel or American bases in the coming hours, this will mean not only the effectiveness of the IDF operation, but also a temporary paralysis of the decision-making chain in Tehran .
And then it doesn’t matter how many missiles Iran has left – if there is no one to give commands and nowhere to centralize them, the response may be delayed or fragmented.
If the missiles are used in the quantities Iran claims, it will mean that Israel did not reach the silos or Iran retained autonomous elements of combat control. This changes the dynamics dramatically. But for now, Tehran is silent. And the longer it remains silent, the higher the probability that Israel has not just destroyed the facilities, it has violated the very architecture of the Iranian retaliatory strike.
