Pornhub will close in France for 24 hours due to a new law on age verification of users, Le Figaro reports.
The new law would require age verification every time you log into a porn site, using, for example, a credit card or ID.
"Pornographic sites prefer to leave France rather than protect our children by checking the age of their users, as required by the SREN law that I initiated? Good luck!" wrote French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot in X.
Pornhub's owners said the French law was "dangerous," "potentially privacy-infringing," and "ineffective."
Instead of pornographic content, users in France will see an image of Marianne, the country's symbol, and the slogan: "Freedom has no off button."

The new system could permanently prevent supplies from reaching certain companies, including US military contractors.
