Greenland may turn to China for help in extracting minerals from the country if the US and EU shun investment in its companies, - Financial Times.
Greenland's Business and Trade Minister Naaja Nathanielsen told the newspaper that American and European mining companies should hurry to invest in Greenland or it will have to look elsewhere, including China, for help developing its mineral wealth.
"We want to develop our business sector and diversify it, and for that we need investment from outside,"
"We do want to cooperate with European and American partners. But if they don't show up, I think we need to look elsewhere."
“We are trying to understand what the new world order looks like. In that sense, Chinese investment is certainly problematic, but so is American investment to some extent,”

'We'll know in two weeks. Whitkoff is negotiating tough' - Trump on whether he believes Russia wants peace
Do you think the Russians are being disrespectful when they say that your criticism of Putin is just an emotional reaction? And do you still believe that Putin really wants to end the war?
I can’t tell you that, but I’ll know in about two weeks. We’ll figure it out soon. We’ll know if he’s leading us on or not. And if he is, we’ll react a little differently. It’ll take about a week, maybe two. We have Mr. Witkoff, he’s here, he’s doing a fantastic job, he’s negotiating hard with them now. They seem to really want to get something done, but until the document is signed, I can’t say for sure. No one can.

Trump hasn't decided yet whether to impose new sanctions on Russia or not' - Politico
"Putin is dangerously close to burning the golden bridge that Trump laid for him," said an administration official who was granted anonymity to share details about the president's current thinking.
We are seeing an unprecedented number of Iskander strikes on Ukraine most of which I should add we are not reporting, as we tend to focus on visually confirmed targets destroyed but for example there are reports of Iskander strikes on Sumy and Chernigov today.

Trump may seek a "deal of the century" with Russia and China on the division of spheres of influence, writes The New York Times, analyzing the latest words and actions of the US president.
In that case, each of the three major countries would dominate its own part of the globe in a "19th century style of imperial rule."
In this context, the NYT sees Trump's willingness to "formalize" Russian control over some Ukrainian territories and a mineral deal with access to Ukrainian resources "as part of a potential peace deal that critics say would effectively carve up Ukraine, similar to what great powers did in the age of empires."
He also spoke about reducing the number of American troops in Europe and Asia, which could benefit Russia and China.
In turn, Trump wants to get Greenland, Canada and control over the Panama Canal.
Although some close to Trump, including officials from his first administration, are calling for Trump's statements and actions not to be considered strategic. They are sure that the US president has no vision of world order.

'Foreign Minister Wadephul flatters the Americans so that they will impose new sanctions against Russia' – Spiegel on the dirty tricks of German diplomacy.
'Before leaving for Washington to meet Rubio, Wadephul made a point of emphasizing the similarities and historical ties between the United States and Germany. 'There is hardly a country to which we Germans owe as much as the United States. The fact that we can live in freedom and prosperity in Germany today, as part of a strong European family, is also a result of the far-sighted peace policy of the United States after the end of World War II,' he said. The flattering statements are aimed at persuading the US government to impose new sanctions against Russia .'

Word in Moscow is if Merz uses German weapons to strike Moscow - and we all know that Kiev has no independent capacity to operate Tauruses or other long-range missiles - then Russia will have no choice but to strike Berlin directly.

🇷🇺Medvedev - on strikes on German territory in response to the use of German missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces :
Germany is already a participant in the conflict: its equipment and specialists are directly fighting Russia. And these are not just military supplies. In essence, this is a full-fledged, not hybrid, participation in the military conflict. Thus, Germany is again an enemy of Russia, again taking part in the war, guided by the Nazi ideology they created, and Merz is a loyal descendant of his relatives who fought in the Wehrmacht.
[Will Russia have the right to strike German territory in response to the launch of German missiles by German specialists?]
If there is information that German military specialists are participating in the launch of long-range missiles at Russian territory, any decision on retaliatory actions can be made. It is within the competence of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. No one can block the right to full-fledged defense of our country and this has been repeatedly emphasized by the head of our state.

What prevents you from introducing sanctions against Russia?

🇩🇪🇺🇦Germany will allocate about €5 billion for military support to Ukraine, the German Defense Ministry announced . The funds will be used to create capacities for the production of long-range weapons, as well as the supply of air defense systems and ammunition. This will be financed from funds already approved by the Bundestag.
The agreements are set out in a memorandum signed today by Umerov and Pistorius in Berlin. Kiev also signed an agreement with the German defense company Diehl to supply Ukraine with air defense systems and related ammunition.

Kiev has no foreign funding for next year — The Telegraph.
Ukraine is in a dangerous situation due to the lack of commitments from the West to support it until 2026 , said Yuriy Gaidai, an expert at the Kiev Center for Economic Strategy.
British mercenary Tom Phillips, 29, has been killed in Ukraine. Originally from north Wales, he had joined the British Army, aged 16, after his last year of school, taking a contract for Ukraine after ten years of service in the British military.
Friends said the ex-Royal Artillery gunner had been battling with mental health challenges prior to his death this month. He served in a GUR unit.
The fighting on the front line his friend described was “horrendous”.
He returned to the UK last year but foolishly returned to Ukraine.

'Putin ready to make peace, but not at any price' - Reuters sources close to the Kremlin named the president's conditions
- A written commitment by the West to stop NATO's eastward expansion. Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and other former Soviet republics should not join NATO
- Ukraine must remain neutral and ensure the protection of the Russian-speaking population
- The West must lift some of the sanctions against Russia and resolve the issue of frozen Russian assets
"If Putin realises he cannot reach a peace deal on his terms, he will try to show Ukrainians and Europeans with military victories that 'tomorrow's peace will be even more painful,' the source said.
According to him, Putin believes that Russia can fight “for years” even under sanctions, and if he “saw a tactical opportunity on the battlefield, he would invade even deeper into Ukraine.”
A second source said Putin was now "less willing to compromise on territory" and wanted to take control of four regions of Ukraine.
"Putin has hardened his position," the source said.
