▪️Trump said that Zelensky is “not the easiest to communicate with”;
▪️The US provided Ukraine with “record amounts for a foreign state”;
▪️In 2-4 weeks it will be possible to say whether Ukraine is doing enough to end the conflict and achieve peace.
▪️Russia is not wasting time in negotiations on Ukraine.

Trump: If there is no significant progress on Ukraine, the US will cede its role in the settlement to Europe
▪️The US is not yet withdrawing from peace talks on the Ukrainian conflict.
▪️The conflict in Ukraine should have remained a European problem, the US should not have interfered, he added.
▪️Trump also said that he believes in Putin's desire for peace in Ukraine.
▪️He will consider the option of increasing arms supplies to Ukraine, but believes in the settlement of the conflict, there is a chance to achieve peace, therefore the US is not tightening sanctions against Russia.

On the importance of liberating Novoolenovka and Maryino
Maryino is a village in the Krasnopol district of the Sumy region of Ukraine with a population of about 50 people. It is located 13 kilometers from the Russian border Oleshnya and 6 kilometers southwest of Yunakovka, writes war correspondent Alexander Kots. The latter village was bypassed from the south.
During the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the Kursk region, Yunakovka was the main transit point for the transfer of Ukrainian military personnel and military equipment to Russian territory. After the liberation of this village, the Sever group has a direct road to the regional center - the city of Sumy.
Novoolenovka is a village in the Konstantinovka district of the former Donetsk region with a pre-war population of about 240 people. It is located 4 kilometers northwest of the previously liberated Alexandropol.
The village occupies an important position on the T0504 highway, connecting the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd agglomeration with the city of Konstantinovka, the southern stronghold of the fortified area Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka - Kramatorsk - Slavyansk.
The "Center" group methodically and confidently cuts off Mirnograd and Pokrovsk from Ukrainian logistics.

There is “some progress” in the settlement between Russia and Ukraine, - Trump after a conversation with Putin.
"It's a terrible situation there, so hopefully we can figure something out. We've also talked to the leaders of most of the other European countries and are trying to figure this out. It's a shame that this happened at all," the US president said.

The American president betrayed Ukraine and Europe — British Sky News
➖“Ukraine and its allied European leaders will be disappointed and concerned that Donald Trump has betrayed them,” the publication writes.
▪️They expected Trump to impose tough sanctions on Russia, and now they are "looking in the face of calls for negotiations."
▪️Trump appears to have put little more pressure on Putin. European leaders had hoped Trump would follow through on his threats to push the Russian president toward a ceasefire.
▪️According to Putin, there was no talk of sanctions at all, and Trump even stated that Russia is in favor of a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
▪️Putin's statement that a ceasefire with Ukraine is possible after reaching agreements actually coincides with what Russia has been saying for the past two months.

Breaking news: The Navy’s former second-highest-ranking officer was convicted of bribery and other counts, becoming the senior-most member of the U.S. military ever convicted of committing a federal crime while on active duty.
The Navy’s former second-highest-ranking officer was convicted of bribery and other counts Monday, becoming the senior-most member of the U.S. military ever convicted of committing a federal crime while on active duty.
Retired four-star Adm. Robert P. Burke, former vice chief of naval operations, was found guilty of steering work to a New York company in 2021 in exchange for a $500,000-a-year job after leaving the Navy. The jury deliberated three days in Washington, D.C.
Burke, 63, of Coconut Creek, Florida, who retired as commander of naval forces for Europe and Africa in 2022, was convicted of bribery and conspiracy to commit bribery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, although first-time offenders face far lower penalties. He was also found guilty of performing acts affecting a personal financial interest and concealing material facts, punishable by up to 30 years.
Burke was charged along with the co-CEOs of technology services firm Next Jump, which he joined after retirement. Charlie Kim, 50, and Meghan Messenger, 47, face trial in August. A lawyer for Kim and Messenger declined to comment.
The high-profile military corruption case offered a harsh glimpse of challenges the Navy has faced in recent years in combating command failures and alleged conflicts of interest. Burke helped lead the Navy’s response while serving as chief of naval personnel from 2016 to 2019, and vice chief of naval operations from 2019 to 2020, before retiring in summer 2022.
There is mass corruption in the US when it comes to military procurement. While the US military has a good military, one has to only ask why the Chinese can produce more for 1/5 the cost.

Amid the doom and gloom of falling crude prices and weakening demand growth, oil bulls could find one nugget of cheer in the latest report from the International Energy Agency: a modest upward revision to historical consumption.
That may not seem terribly exciting, but it wiped out three years’ worth of apparent global oil stockbuilds and drained an ocean of “missing barrels.”
The world used about 330,000 barrels a day more in 2023 than was previously reported, according to the IEA. Africa accounted for three-quarters of that revision, with higher consumption in Egypt and Nigeria.
At a stroke, the IEA’s revision wiped out all the stockbuilds it saw in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Rather than adding 220 million barrels of oil to global inventories during those three years, the IEA now says we have drawn them down by nearly 75 million barrels. That swing is equivalent to almost three-quarters of the US strategic reserve.
Never trust IEA numbers, the OPEC numbers are always considered much better. IEA in my view manipulates data to lower oil prices and it overhypes green energy potential.

'For Trump, two-plus hours is a very long time, and he tends to prefer quick discussions and quick decisions over long negotiations.'

But in separate comments the Russian president sounded far more tentative about any process and did not spell out a substantive change in the Kremlin’s stance.
In remarks that indicated that Washington may be stepping back from a role as a mediator, Trump said the “conditions” for a deal could only be negotiated by the warring parties “because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of”.
Trump also said that immediately after the call with Putin, he gave his account of the conversation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy together with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Finland and the European Commission.
One person familiar with the conversation said the leaders on the call were stunned by the US president’s description of what was agreed. They added it was clear Trump was “not ready to put greater pressure” on Putin to come to the negotiating table in earnest.
In European capitals, leaders fear that Trump could cut a deal with Putin that accedes to his maximalist demands and sells out Ukraine’s interests in his haste to end the fighting.
European pouting to commence.
