1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Okay, then... It was inevitable that Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany would be asked about what the team needs to do differently to be more successful in cup competitions during the 2025/26.As always, the coach gave a response without necessarily answering the question directly.“In the end it was about details. There weren’t many situations this season where you could say that we were lucky, maybe once or twice. Performance wise, we were very often the better team on the pitch. Football is about details. If you want to win everything, then everything has to be right. Now it’s about winning the cake (Bundesliga), and then we’ll continue working to win the cherry, too (cup competitions),” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). If fans were hoping to hear Kompany detail what he needs in his roster arsenal to be better, well, that response probably did not satisfy you. Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Muenchen - DFL Supercup 2017 Photo by TF-Images/TF-Images via Getty Images A lot of Bayern legends have been in the same exact boots Müller is in right now... Thomas Müller has only got at least nine matches for Bayern Munich left between the Bundesliga, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup, however there could be more in the latter two competitions should they progress further. The day that many Bayern and German football fans were fearing for quite some time finally came to fruition just over a week ago — this is Müller’s last season with the German Rekordmeister, as the club decided to not offer him a one-year contract extension.Müller’s name is synonymous with Bayern and the Mia San Mia mentality, and he’ll be calling it quits in Munich after 17 well-decorated years with the club, having one every club trophy there is to possibly win, including the 2014 World Cup title with Germany in Brazil. In Vincent Kompany’s first season in charge of the club taking over for Thomas Tuchel, it had slowly become clear that Müller’s minutes were starting to be managed, and the writing was on the wall for his contract to not be renewed; a decision Bayern’s board and front office did not make lightly.During a recent appearance speaking on Blickpunt Sport, former Bayern president Uli Hoeneß reflected on the club’s decision to not offer Müller a contract extension, paralleling the situation to previous instances he has witness where club legends wind up leaving on the club’s terms instead of their own. “It would have been better if he had made the decision and not FC Bayern. I’ve seen many, many great players retire. Günter Netzer, Wolfgang Overath, Franz Beckenbauer, and Gerd Müller. There were problems with all of them in the end because they simply didn’t want to accept that they were no longer as good as they would have liked to be,” he explained (transcribed via @iMiaSanMia). FC Bayern München v FC Internazionale Milano - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final First Leg Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images For Hoeneß, he feels that the club sort of led Müller on and left the perception of the door possibly still being open for a contract extension without decisively saying that they were not, in fact, going to offer him one. In essence, he was left in limbo for far too long, but there is certainly a great deal of details that go into these types of decisions. “We made mistakes by giving Thomas the impression for too long that his contract might be extended. And when the sporting management had the talks with him, the decision had actually been made not to extend his contract. That was the start for a certain amount of unrest. Thomas wasn’t prepared for it and was of course angry,” Bayern’s honorary president stressed.Between Bayern’s front office and supervisory board, there was not one person that felt the club should be offering a one-year extension to Müller. Because of that fact, Hoeneß feels that decision should have been explained as soon as it was agreed upon. Both Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have been working diligently behind the scenes to plan the squad for the future and try to generate funds for a transfer of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but waiting until they did to announce the Müller decision seemed a bit unfair. For Hoeneß, the club needs to carry a good portion of the blame for the way the decision was poorly communicated to Müller himself as well as the rest of the club. His future at the club or elsewhere the longer the season went on was always a question that was looming large in the background of what was going on at Bayern, but now there is added pressure to finish the season strong seeing as it is Müller’s last one with the club. “This decision was made jointly by the entire club. And there was not a single person—not a single person—on the committees, including the supervisory board, who had a different opinion. It was poorly communicated. We have to take responsibility for that,” Hoeneß admitted.…

1. FC Heidenheim - Bayern Munich Photo by Tom Weller/picture alliance via Getty Images With Heidenheim down there’s only four matches to go. It’s never easy being dumped out of the Champions League, especially when so close to reaching the final. Fortunately, Bayern Munich managed to put aside the bitter defeat inflicted upon them midweek by Inter Milan and inch ever closer to regaining the Bundesliga title with a four-nil trouncing of Heidenheim.Wanting to recover from its first trophyless campaign in over a decade, Bayern (at the time of writing) needs only seven points from its remaining four matches to mathematically guarantee domestic dominance over reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen. Overcoming Heidenheim was an important step in setting up this favourable setting heading into Matchday 31.Following the victory over Heidenheim, @iMiaSanMia captured Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl speaking about the situation surrounding the victory, saying, “We want to win our games. The reaction today, the way we performed here from the start, we showed that the team wants to win. It’s not so easy in Heidenheim. Because we performed the way we did—wanting to win the game from the start—we’re one step closer to the title.”Bayern wasn’t gone long, but the Bundesliga better look out because it certainly is back.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga? 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Is the future captain on the hot seat at Bayern Munich? Prior to Bayern Munich’s 4-0 victory over Heidenheim, a report from broke Sport1 journalist Stefan Kumberger which indicated that club higher-ups were unhappy with Joshua Kimmich’s performance vs. Inter Milan: Joshua Kimmich’s performance against Inter was critically discussed within the club after the second leg. It wasn’t because the performance was particularly poor, but because Bayern simply expect more from him. Internally, Bayern bosses value Kimmich’s attitude and his willingness to lead the way for his teammates - that’s why his contract was extended in the first place. This reeks of “we paid you to be better than this” and the bosses have a point. Kimmich is no long “the kid.” He is — for all intents and purposes — the team’s chosen leader and while he was not terrible against Inter Milan, those kind of games do represent chances to “step up.” Kimmich did not exactly do that, but it would be hard to argue anyone did. Live and learn, but — if true — it does appear that Bayern Munich’s bosses are seeking a higher return on their investment. FBL-GER-BUNDESLIGA-HEIDENHEIM-BAYERN MUNICH Bayern Munich is one step closer to the Bundesliga title... Die Folgen: Bayern’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich arrived in Heidenheim looking for a fight (maybe that focus would have come in handy earlier this week), but the home side was lifeless, hapless, and pretty much dead on arrival. That led to Bayern Munich putting forth one of its most dominant showings of the season. It was good to see the Bavarians not fall into a trap of feeling sorry for themselves after being eliminated from the Champions League by Inter Milan earlier this week.Make no mistake, Heidenheim was as flat as a pancake, but Bayern Munich did exactly what it needed to do. Let’s dive into it, here are some quick hitters on the match: As always, let’s begin with a look at the starting XI: !

Here’s how we line up against Heidenheim.#FCHFCB #FCBayern #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/rAm36GR8aB— FC Bayern (@FCBayernEN) April 19, 2025Vincent Kompany made quite a few changes. Thomas Müller was sent back to the bench, Kim Min-jae was given a (long overdue) rest, and Leroy Sané was rested as well. To compensate Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Michael Olise occupied the the three attacking spots behind Harry Kane. Otherwise, Raphaël Guerreiro stepped in at left-back, Josip Stanišić set up at center-back. and Aleksandar Pavlović covered for injured midfielder Leon Goretzka. Kompany needed to rest Min-jae as criticism for his handling of the defender continues to mount, while Sané just has not lit the world afire at left-wing. That opened the door for the coach to get creative with his attack. Müller’s benching was not altogether shocking, but with such limited time left in his Bayern Munich career, it would have been great to see him in the XI.Heidenheim using “Sirius” by the Alan Parsons Project (aka the Chicago Bulls intro song) from was...something.Disappointingly, Paul Wanner did not start for Heidenheim. Fellow Bayern Munich loanee Frans Krätzig did get a spot in Heidenheim’s starting XI, but spent the majority of the game on his heels. Krätzig, though, was one of his team’s better players.Gnabry should have given Bayern Munich a lead in the 8th minute, but fired his attempt right at Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller.Bayern Munich was flying early and desperately trying to create chances, but it was leaving large gaps of space all over the field. It was very clear that the Bavarians did not feel threatened by Heidenheim and were comfortable taking risks. The frenetic pacing of the Bayern Munich attack would eventually pay off as Olise slid a pass centrally from the right win to Kane, who simply turned and ripped a left-footed from form about 20 yards for a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. In the 19th minute, Bayern Munich asserted its dominance once again when Gnabry sprung Konrad Laimer (!?) with a longball that left the Austrian in a 1-v-none with Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller. Laimer cooly deposited the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Honestly, that was more composure than Coman or Sané showed in similar chances this season. We can probably add Kane to that list as he missed a header from about one yard out in the 22nd minute. This season, man...Seriously, though, Kane has been good during this campaign — and that header attempt was not exactly a gimme as Kane had to lay out for it — but this team has had some bouts with inefficiency in front of the net during this campaign. Speaking of which, Olise had a golden opportunity to make it 3-0 in the 29th minute, but his attempt was turned away by Heidenheim’s Müller. In the 36th minute, Bayern Munich would score again...albeit in a less impressive way. Kane sent in a ball centrally toward Guerreiro who fired his shot directly into Heidenheim’s Müller. Coman corralled in the rebound, dribbled, and put a somewhat mild shot into the near post from the right side that somehow evaded Müller. Just like that, it was 3-0 and the rout was on. The first half was just fun and free…

FC Internazionale Milano v FC Bayern Munchen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg Photo by Sportinfoto/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images Will the versatile defender hone in on one position? Just prior to Bayern Munich’s 4-0 victory over Heidenheim, an interesting report dropped from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, who stated that defender Josip Stanišić will be viewed as a center-back for next season: As previously revealed: Josip #Stanisic is being considered by FC Bayern as a centre-back option for next season.Today, he starts as the left-sided centre-back alongside Eric Dier in Heidenheim. The big question moving forward for Bayern Munich on Stanišić now appears to be closer to an answer. If true, Stanišić can start to laser in on preparing for 2025/26 as a center-back, but should Bayern Munich make him the fulltime starter at right back, continue the plan to use him at center-back ,or just keep him as a Swiss Army Knife-type player who gets a lot of playing time across all backline positions, but who also does not have a true starting role?Decisions, decisions...Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga? 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images He refers to Heidenheim’s capacity to make life difficult as shown in their game against Leverkusen. Right after the 4-3 loss on aggregate to Inter Milan, spirits may have been low at Bayern Munich, but there is no excuse for an off day when one plays for the Rekordmeister. Bayern are now fully focused on the Bundesliga, and that means every game counts towards bagging the Meisterschale. The Bavarians played away at Heidenheim and won 4-0, courtesy of a high-octane performance in the first half. Manager Vincent Kompany delivered due credit to his players for their performance. “I know that everyone will say now that it’s normal for Bayern to win here this way,” he said, as recorded by @iMiaSanMia.“But if you watch Heidenheim’s last few games, especially the one against Leverkusen here - it wasn’t easy for the opponent,” he said, referring to Bayer Leverkusen’s gritty 1-0 win on Matchday 28. “So I knew it wouldn’t be easy here. It was a complete performance by the boys after a difficult week. Compliments to them,” he declared.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga? FC Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Is Bayern Munich ready to make its move? Everyone and their mother knows by now that Bayer Leverkusen’s ace Florian Wirtz is Bayern Munich’s top transfer target for this summer. So much that there have reportedly already been meetings between Bayern’s brass and the Wirtz family. In an interview with BR24, as reported by @iMiaSanMia, Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß discused the rumored visit of Wirtz’s parents to his home in Tegernsee. “They were at Tegernsee, that was over nine months or a year ago. It wasn’t about a transfer at all. I just helped the family and gave them advice on certain things, like sponsorships. His father approached me to ask if I could help him. That was the reason,” explained Hoeneß. “But we never concretely discussed a Florian move to FC Bayern. We mustn’t forget that he still has two years left on his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. And if Leverkusen says, ‘We’re not letting him go,’ then we can forget about it. I think it’s totally dubious for people to act as if the thing is done.”On the financial side of the matter, the now infamous and allegedly dwindling fixed deposit account would be the cause of Bayern’s insistence on reducing the wage bill and could prevent major incoming transfers from happening. This should not be the cause, though, according to Hoeneß, and money (or lack thereof) would not be something preventing Wirtz’s transfer. “FC Bayern is in top shape. It’s not like it used to be, when we had 100, 150 million euros in our fixed deposit account. But that doesn’t mean that FC Bayern isn’t a completely healthy club that, if it wanted to, could of course make a transfer like that. The fact is that he has two years left on his contract with Leverkusen, there’s nothing more to say,” he concluded.

FC Internazionale Milano v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg João Palhinha looks on from the bench during Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League Quarter Final second leg clash against Inter Milan at San Siro on 16 April, 2025. | Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images The Portuguese midfielder may be on his way out as quick as he came in. After an extremely controversial transfer break down in 2023, João Palhinha finally secured a “dream” transfer to Bayern Munich last summer. However, unfortunately for the Portuguese midfielder, his time at Bayern has been anything but smooth sailing, suffering multiple injury setbacks and failing to cement a starting role. According to Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are already open to listening to offers for the former Fulham player as a result of his unconvincing performances (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): Bayern are not actively looking to sell João Palhinha. But if there’s a suitable offer for the club and the player, then Bayern wouldn’t put any obstacles on his way out. Palhinha is being offered in England by intermediaries. His family prefers to stay in Munich.Fans of Palhinha will be relieved to hear that Bayern are not actively trying to sell him, however, as the Bavarians look to raise funds for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, the Portuguese international may find his head on the chopping block. Despite the whispers, Palhinha’s dream is still far from being over and will, at the very least, have until the end of the season to showcase what he can bring to Vincent Kompany’s side. 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty Images Olise has been quite a good signing, has he not? Bayern Munich’s signing of Michael Olise was far from uncontroversial when it was announced back in the summer of 2024. The then-Crystal Palace player had just suffered an injury plagued season but had shone when on the field, but triggering a release clause of reportedly nearly €60 million (if all bonuses are met) meant that many eyes were on the France U-23 international. It is safe to say those eyes have witnessed something phenomenal, then. Olise was immediately promoted to France’s senior team and became a key part of it within the span of less than a year, while he has outstripped all the team’s other wingers. He has even become one of the team’s most important players. So says Vincent Kompany, at least. “Olise has become one of our most important players this season,” Bayern’s head coach said to Sky after Saturday’s 4-0 away win over Heidenheim, via Florian Plettenberg. “That’s not something you can take for granted when it’s your first year in the Bundesliga at this level.”No, it is not. At just 23, this is hardly the end of the road for the former Reading FC player, either. He has some much room to grow and is already playing at such an elite level. Bayern fans can be happy at Olise’s development.Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga? 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Bayern Munich stomped Heidenheim... Bayern Munich took care of business in thrashing Heidenheim 4-0 on the road to put the squad one-step closer to winning the Bundesliga after a one-season hiatus. To continue down the path to ta title, having more efforts like we saw against Heidenheim would be, well, preferable. Harry Kane, Konrad Laimer, Kingsley Coman, and Joshua Kimmich provided the goals in what was a superior team effort from Bayern Munich. What did you think of the effort and the result? I’d rate it a 10.00/10.00 for total decimation and dominance. Looking for more thoughts and analysis on Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga? 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Bayern Munich’s Jonas Urbig in aerial action against FC Heidenheim at Voith Arena on 19 April, 2025. | Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images The first Bundesliga clean sheet of many...hopefully. Bayern Munich’s Jonas Urbig has had big shoes to fill since Manuel Neuer’s calf injury suffered celebrating a goal against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League round of 16. Despite being thrown into the deep end at the tender age of 21, Urbig has proved that he is certainly capable of swimming, displaying confidence with the ball at his feet and a solid shot-stopping ability. The former FC Köln keeper put in another convincing display against FC Heidenheim, but was more focused on his side’s victory.“I’m happy to have gotten the win here with the team. That was important,” said a relieved Urbig (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It’s really difficult in Heidenheim; some top teams have struggled here. If you’re not 100% focused both offensively and defensively, things can get nasty here. But we responded brilliantly. We played well, created many chances, and deservedly won 4-0. The focus now is on Mainz 05.”In spite of Urbig’s decent performances, peppered with a scant few mistakes, the clean sheet against Heidenheim came as his first in the Bundesliga with Bayern, failing to do so in his previous five attempts. With the correct coaching and leadership, Bayern fan’s may be witnessing the rise of Die Rekordmeister’s heir eventual to an ageing Manuel Neuer. 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga It’s been a packed fixtures list and Bayern has struggled recently to maintain consistency, especially with all of their mounting injuries. Bayern Munich shook off their Champions League exit disappointment at the hands of Inter with an emphatic 4-0 Bundesliga win over Heidenheim at the Voith-Arena. Goals from Harry Kane, Konrad Laimer, Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich saw that Bayern is now only two wins away from lifting the Meisterschale, but that could certainly change these next couple of weeks if Bayer Leverkusen have any sort of slip-ups themselves.Even with the amount of injuries Vincent Kompany has been dealt with as the season reaches its crucial, closing stages, Bayern made a strong account of themselves in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals at Inter. They fell just short, losing 4-3 on aggregate, which means that there is now added impetus to wrapping up the Bundesliga title. By this time last season, Leverkusen had already wrapped up the title mathematically, but its Bayern’ time to return to the top of the German footballing pedestal. After the 4-0 routing of Heidenheim, Kimmich, who scored Bayern’s fourth goal of the match, stressed the importance of the Rekordmeister needing to exhibit a level of consistency, which they have not necessarily done for parts of this season across all fronts. “We always want to be there in important moments. But the reality is that every 3 days is important. Every game is important. We can’t say that only the Champions League is important and not the Bundesliga. We felt that today and saw how we celebrated every goal. It was a very important step towards the title,” the midfielder stressed (via @iMiaSanMia). 1. For now, Kimmich reiterated that Bayern is just focusing on taking care of their own business and not worried about what Leverkusen may or may not do right behind them in the table. “We’re now 9 points ahead and Leverkusen have to win. But we’re not really looking at them. We have to win at least two more games to secure the title,” he emphasized.Having already tallied 87 league goals from the 30 matches played so far, Bayern has the chance to clinch the title and reach a century of goals on the season in doing so, which would improve on the 94 goals they scored last season, albeit in a season that included losing eight league matches. Prior to Bayern Munich’s 4-0 victory over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga, board member for sport Max Eberl engaged in a back-and-forth interview with Sky Sport that saw the executive have a contentious exchange with the reporter (via @iMiaSanMia):Max Eberl asked before the game whether the squad needs an overhaul after the CL exit: “Without Upa, without Alphonso Davies, without Jamal Musiala, you’re different. Last season, we reached the semifinals with that squad. Our squad is already good. Of course ,we’re constantly refreshing it. We’re keeping an eye on all parts of the team.”When asked again about potential new signings in defense, Eberl got annoyed and replied: “Can we play the game today?”Finally, Eberl then was asked whether the CL exit was due to Vincent Kompany’s game plan: “I don’t want to constantly correct you. When you concede two set-piece goals, it’s not because of your game plan. Vincent has a clear idea of how he wants to play – and that’s how he sets up.”Bayern Munich’s summer could be busy...or it could be a letdown. Either way, the club will seek to finish the season strong, win the Bundesliga, and then address any movement that needs to happen. One thing that Eberl made very clear was that the squad will not be allowed to be torn apart from within.
