#BREAKING | With initial vote counts from the ongoing Czech parliamentary elections, populist billionaire Andrej Babiš's ANO movement surges ahead at 36-41% after the first hour of tallying, dominating rural and industrial regions while trailing only in the capital Prague.
The self-described "Trumpist" leader, a vocal critic of Ukraine aid and EU policies, eyes a potential return to power amid voter frustration over inflation and energy costs.
The ruling SPOLU coalition lags at 16-19%, with far-right SPD at 8-11% and others fragmented below 13%. Final results expected later today; coalition talks loom as Babiš rules out pacts with current partners.

🟨❌🟦🟨 An intel note authored by the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) of Moldova declares Romanian politician, George Simion, as a "subversive and extremist" foreign actor which wanted to carry out "acts which undermined the national security of the Moldovan state".
The SIS declares the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) and Simion's older project, Acțiunea 2012 (Action 2012) as ”extremist organisations” due to their association with Simion. The "extremist acts" Simion is being accused of were organising protests together with other Moldovan citizens who wanted to reunite with Romania. Unionist sentiment flared up in the country after 2009 with the fall of the Communist government and presidency and continued to be popular under the first [Vlad] Filat cabinet (2009-2013) which was the first friendly government to Romania since the year 2000. In other words, Moldova's top brass declared Romanian-Moldovan unionism to be "extremist and subversive" which sets an awful precedent.
Because Simion was declared an "extremist" and "subversive foreign agent" by the SIS, his public support for the Democracy at Home Party (PDA) and the suspicion that the PDA allegedly "illegally manipulated" the TikTok algorithm to gain views, this represents grounds for the expulsion of the PDA from the Moldovan Parliament.
SIS did not write this conclusion into their note as their whole purpose was to inform the relevant authority in this discussion which is the Constitutional Court of Moldova (CCM) who will decide, based on this note, if the PDA deserves to remain in Parliament.
If you think this sounds exactly like what happened in the 2024 Romanian presidential elections you are absolutely right!
For comparison, last year, the Romanian and Foreign Intelligence Services (SRI and SIE) were asked by Romania's National Supreme Defense Council (CSAT) to write a report on the 2024 presidential elections. The SRI and SIE wrote in those reports that the elections were "compromised by Russian interference" citing cyber attacks and alleging TikTok algorithm manipulation in favor of Călin Georgescu by a state actor who the SRI and SIE suspected to be Russia but without definitive proof.
Based on those intelligence reports, the Romanian Constitutional Court (CCR) cancelled the 2024 presidential elections and banned Călin Georgescu from participating in the 2025 presidential elections.
Remains to be seen if the CCM will ban the PDA or invalidate the election results and order for new ones to be organised.
From a legal perspective, the intel report provided by the SIS is "the truth". The CCM is not competent to judge if the SIS was telling the truth or not (just like the CCR was with the reports made by the SRI and SIE), they just take it into consideration (unlikely that they will ignore it) and decide based on what the report says, the request of the Central Electoral Commission to ban the PDA and any other relevant information.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Example of very well-built Ukrainian trench systems northeast of Uspenovka, in the Pokrovskoye direction.
A series of 37 trench systems like this were built in early 2025 to defend against exactly this "folding" of the Ukrainian lines in the sector after the fall of Velykaya Novoselka
The trenches are small, independent and covered, with only protected firing positions sticking out of the system.
In absence of Ukrainian forces manning these systems, they quickly fall to rapidly advancing Russians, which effectively use them as reinforced accumulation points.

🇷🇺🚀🇺🇦 Financial Times: Russian missile upgrade outpaces Ukraine’s Patriot defences
Kyiv’s interception rates fall as enemy strikes dodge US interceptors in final seconds
Months of devastating Russian air attacks suggest Moscow has succeeded in altering its missiles to evade Ukraine’s air defences, according to Ukrainian and western officials.
Bombardments that targeted Ukrainian drone makers this summer were a prominent example of Russia improving its ballistic missiles to better defeat US Patriot batteries, current and former Ukrainian and western officials told the Financial Times.
Russia was likely to have modified its Iskander-M mobile system, which launches missiles with an estimated range of up to 500km, as well as Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles, which can fly up to 480km, they added.
The missiles now follow a typical trajectory before diverting and plunging into a steep terminal dive or executing manoeuvres that “confuse and avoid” Patriot interceptors.
It is a “game-changer for Russia”, said one former Ukrainian official. With Kyiv also contending with slower deliveries of air defence interceptors from the US, the missile campaign has destroyed key military facilities and critical infrastructure ahead of winter.
Ukraine’s ballistic missile interception rate improved over the summer, reaching 37 per cent in August, but it plummeted to 6 per cent in September, despite fewer launches, according to public Ukrainian air force data compiled by the London-based Centre for Information Resilience and analysed by the Financial Times.
At least four drone-making plants in and around Kyiv were badly damaged by missiles this summer, said current and former Ukrainian officials. This included a strike on August 28 on a facility producing Turkish Bayraktar drones, according to public posts by local officials.

🇺🇸🌾📉‼️🇨🇳🤝🇧🇷 — 📰 Financial Times | US soyabean farmers squeezed as China blocks imports and stockpiles rise | Overseas sales of top US export crop plummet as trade talks between Washington and Beijing stall | September 27, 2025:
"Overseas sales of the US’s top farm export have plummeted as China shuns American soyabeans in a “devastating” blow to the country’s farmers.
The new export season for soyabeans has opened with no sales or shipments to China, government data shows — a sharp break from a year ago, when it had already booked 6.5mn tons. Meanwhile, inventories have begun to pile up with the onset of the fall US harvest season.
For decades, more than half of all US soyabeans went to China, the world’s biggest buyer. But this year, as trade talks between Washington and Beijing stall, not a single American soyabean has headed east, leaving farmers struggling to stay afloat as bins fill and prices sag while China turns to record supplies from Brazil."

🇭🇺❌🇺🇦🇪🇺 'No membership at all,' Hungary's Orbán says as he continues to block Ukraine's accession talks
Arriving at the Copenhagen summit, the Hungarian prime minister, Viktor Orbán, said that Budapest remained opposed to the idea of accepting Ukraine as a member of the European Union.
“The Hungarians would not like to belong to the same integration format, even a military one like Nato, [or] a political economic one like European Union, with the Ukrainians. So my proposal, the Hungarian proposal is to have [a] strategic agreement [with Ukraine], not [a] membership,” he said.
“Ukraine is a heroic country. We have to support them. No question of that. The question is the form how we do that. Membership is too much,” he said.
“Nobody knows what will happen in 100 years … but today is obviously no, no membership, … [it] would mean, first, that war would come into the European Union; second, the money from European Union would go to Ukraine. Both [would be] bad,” he said.
“There is a legal, strictly settled procedure how to do it. We have to stick to that. It means unanimous decision,” he stressed.
“They don’t have money to maintain themselves. We pay the army, we pay the public bureaucracy, we pay the pension, we pay everything. If you are paid [for] by somebody else, you’re not a sovereign country. It’s not a moral statement, it’s just a financial fact.”

🇺🇦🇷🇺 In Ukraine, the frontline has disappeared from the battlefield. Instead there is a “kill-zone” - a strip with width ranging from 500 m up to 6–7 km, sometimes even 10 km, where Ukrainian and Russian dugouts and shelters are mixed together, and called “firing positions” in official reports.
A so-called grey zone is a 20–30 km strip between Ukrainian main forces and the Russian forces, which is constantly monitored by reconnaissance UAVs and fired upon by both sides. The few kilometers of that strip closest to the Russian positions - that’s no longer a gray zone but a kill-zone, where a person, whether military or civilian, is constantly playing hide-and-seek with death.

Blackout in Sumy district , Ukraine
Russian military attacks on energy infrastructure have caused a widespread blackout in Sumy Oblast, leaving cities like Konotop and Shostka, along with surrounding districts and communities (including Krolevechka, Hlukhivska, Yampilska, Sveska, and Seredyno-Budska), without power.
🇺🇸🛡🇮🇱 The U.S. Army is expanding its THAAD ballistic missile defense base in Israel at (31°29'53"N 34°48'19"E) with ~5 more launch sites (pads) in addition to the 6 that are already in use.
There are also some extra launch sites that were already constructed there, so, the U.S. could deploy up to three THAAD batteries at this one base if they really needed to which would represent ~38% of the total amount of U.S. Army THAADs…
The U.S. really only has 8 operational THAAD batteries as of September 2025 (42~48 launchers) along with maybe ~550 interceptor missiles (rough estimate) so it’s a very exclusive system.
It’s also been estimated recently that the U.S. had used ~25% of its THAAD interceptor missiles to defend Israel from Iran’s missile waves during the 12-day war. To put that in perspective, U.S. Army THAADs accounted for nearly ~50% of all U.S.-Israeli interceptions of Iranian MRBMs
Here’s closer imagery of the U.S. Army THAAD anti-ballistic missile site in Israel at (31°29'53"N 34°48'19"E) with six launching sites in use with a THAAD launcher visibly inside each of their shelters & tilted south.
The base itself is operated by U.S. Army personnel (main camp at the right) along with at least one, maybe two, U.S. Army X-band AN/TPY-2 early warning radar(s) as well. This is an older image showing the AN/TPY-2 radar positioned south, facing Yemen’s Houthis, back when they posed a ballistic missile threat to Israel.
There already were some extra THAAD launch sites (pads) that weren’t being used, though they didn’t yet have shelters like the six operational sites. If you add up the total amount of launch pads right now, then it’s possible that the U.S. has contingency plans to deploy up to 3 THAAD batteries in Israel. Currently, the U.S. Army has two THAAD batteries in Israel, with the first being deployed in October 2024, and the second being more recently deployed in April 2025..

🚢📉 Container shipping costs are plunging again:
The spot rate for a 40-foot container from Shanghai to Rotterdam fell to $1,735 last week, the lowest since mid-December 2023.
This marks the 8th consecutive weekly decline in rates to Europe.
Shipping costs from Shanghai to Los Angeles dropped to $2,311, also the lowest since December 2023.
Weaker global demand, price wars, and excess shipping capacity have driven the decline.
Meanwhile, US import volumes are expected to continue declining toward year-end, with January 2026 projected to be -19% lower YoY.
Global trade disruptions are in full swing.

👃💸🇮🇱👏🇮🇱 — 📰 ZeroHedge | Israel Paying US Social Media Influencers $7,000 Per Post As Right-Wing Support Craters | October 1, 2025:
"Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's meeting in New York on Friday with a group of pro-Israel influencers, we learn that Israel is likely paying them a whopping $7,000 per pro-Israel social-media post in a desperate drive to bolster plummeting support of Israel among America's young conservatives.
That's the conclusion of Responsible Statecraft's Nick Cleveland-Stout, based on analysis of a disclosure filed with the US Department of Justice as required by the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). While pro-Israel lobbying heavyweight AIPAC is notoriously exempt from FARA registration, the social media operation comes under the transparency law's provisions because Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is paying for it.
The influence campaign is being facilitated by Bridge Partners, a DC-based firm owned by founders Yair Levi and Uri Steinberg. "[Bridge Partners] has also enlisted the help of a former major in the IDF spokesperson unit, Nadav Shtrauchler," writes Cleveland-Stout. "For legal counsel, Levi and Steinberg have turned to Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, a firm that previously worked for controversial Israeli spyware company NSO Group."
