🇳🇱🔥 Anti-Immigration Protests in The Netherlands

On Saturday, about 3000 patriots attended an authorized anti-immigration rally organized by the nationalist social media influencer Els Rechts at Malieveld in The Hague. Protesters waved Dutch flags and the orange-white-blue Prinsenvlag to oppose uncontrolled immigration.

The event escalated when a group broke away, stormed the A12 highway, and blocked traffic. Clashes erupted as they attacked police with stones, bottles, fireworks, and flares. Authorities used tear gas to clear the highway and Malieveld, where officials shut down the rally. Burned police vehicles were reported, and some protesters advanced toward the city center.

Protesters set fires and smashed the windows of the D66 party office (Democrats 66 HQ, which is a liberal-centrist political party in the Netherlands). Protesters are chanting "Get rid of asylum centres".

Multiple officers were injured, but no serious protester casualties occurred. At least 20 arrests were made for public violence and unlawful assembly, with investigations continuing into the coordinated disruption.

Uncontrolled immigration has been linked to rising violence and crime in the Netherlands, particularly against women. A 2025 report by the Dutch Ministry of Justice's Research and Documentation Centre noted migrants' overrepresentation in violent crimes by a factor of 2.22 and in sexual offenses by 1.48, despite comprising only 27% of the population.

🇮🇱🇺🇸🇪🇬 NEW: Netanyahu asked the US to pressure Egypt over a military build-up in Sinai, claiming it violates the 1979 peace treaty.

Israel says Egypt expanded air bases, built underground facilities, and increased troops near Gaza without explanation.

Tensions are rising as Egypt fears Israel might push Gaza’s population into Sinai, while Israel accuses Egypt of blocking refugees.

Direct talks failed, prompting Israel to seek US help, but Egypt denies any violations.

🇮🇱🇪🇬 Netanyahu asked U.S. to press Egypt to scale down on military build up in Sinai

During their meeting in Jerusalem on Monday, Netanyahu presented Secretary of State Marco Rubio with a list of activities in Sinai that he claimed were substantial violations by Egypt of its 1979 peace agreement with Israel, for which the U.S. serves as guarantor.

Two Israeli officials said the Egyptian have been establishing military infrastructure — some of which could be used for offensive purposes — in areas where only light weapons are allowed under the treaty.

The officials claimed the Egyptians extended runways at air bases in Sinai so that they could be used by fighter jets, and built underground facilities which Israeli intelligence believes could be used for storing missiles.

There's no evidence the Egyptians are actually storing missiles in those facilities, the officials say.

But they claim the Egyptians did not provide a reasonable explanation as to their purpose when asked by Israel through diplomatic and military channels.

The Egyptians have grown increasingly worried during Israel's war in Gaza that Netanyahu and his government want to push some or all of the two million Palestinians in Gaza into Sinai.

The Egyptians boosted their forces on the border with Gaza and said an influx of Palestinian refugees would be treated as a threat to Egypt's national security. Sisi's government has also warned Israel against actions that could undermine their peace agreement.

📝: Israelis demand that the Egyptians explain to Israel why they are building infrastructure in their own territory because they think Israel might be under threat.

🇺🇸🇩🇰 Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby blocked a multibillion $ Patriot SAM system sale to Denmark a few months ago.

The newspaper, The Atlantic, says that Colby wants to prioritize the U.S. rebuilding its stocks of interceptor missiles before making any other sales to European allies.

The Atlantic's sources in the Pentagon say that the Patriot's interceptor missile stocks is just 25% of the needs of the U.S. military.

The Atlantic writes that this change of policy "could cause rifts between NATO allies", "weaken their defenses", "diminish American influence on the European continent", "reducing the number of jobs in the defense industry, limiting product expansion, and curtailing research and development".

Ultimately, Denmark signed a $9.1 billion deal last week to buy long-range air-defense systems made by a joint French-Italian venture, and medium-range systems from Norway, Germany, and France. It was Denmark’s largest-ever purchase of arms.

🇫🇷🤝🇵🇸 — French President Emmanuel Macron to CBS News' Face the Nation:

Israel's security strategy against Hamas has failed.

They killed all the key leaders. This is a success.
But at the beginning of this war, you had more or less 25,000 Hamas fighters. The Israeli army killed probably half, but Hamas managed to recruit the equivalent.

You have as many fighters as at the very beginning, which is the best evidence that if we want to dismantle Hamas, the total war is not the answer because it's just killing the credibility of Israel.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 The EU won’t tariff China and India to please Trump. But it is working on a counteroffer.

Several measures in the European Union’s (EU’s) nineteenth sanctions package against Russia, which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Friday, appear tailored to please US President Donald Trump. Yet perhaps the most important signal Brussels aimed to send was that the EU remains committed to phasing out the little that remains of Russian energy imports to the bloc.

Last week, Trump reportedly dialed in unannounced to a meeting between a delegation of EU sanctions experts and US officials, during which he called for the EU to enact steep tariffs on India and China. Then over the weekend, the US president posted on social media that NATO countries should place “50% to 100% TARIFFS ON CHINA, to be fully withdrawn after the WAR with Russia and Ukraine is ended.”

The most common take on Trump’s post is that he is asking for NATO (most of which are also part of the European Union) to do impossible things as a delaying tactic in order not to have to impose sanctions himself.

It is true that this administration takes a dim view of sanctions, which it sees as one of the reasons why countries are looking for alternatives to the dollar. It is also undeniable that Trump is reluctant to impose additional sanctions on Russia. His administration has explained that imposing additional sanctions would risk breaking the already thin ice on which negotiations rest.

On Friday, von der Leyen also spoke about the EU taking tougher stances on China and even India by targeting cryptocurrencies, banking, and energy firms that are helping Russia circumvent sanctions.

Given that Trump has set the bar so high, the risk is that he accepts nothing short of tariffs and even returns to musing about dismantling the current sanctions regime against Russia. But the Europeans should try to engage on what they know Trump really wants: reducing Russia’s energy exports to Europe while keeping global oil prices low.

The EU’s offer to Trump therefore should involve more crackdowns on price-cap evasion, including tougher policing by EU member states such as Denmark of shipments through their waters. Instead of tariffs, the Europeans could also suggest threatening a joint secondary-sanctions regime with the United States, which might be daunting enough for Beijing and New Delhi to consider reducing their purchases of Russian oil and natural gas. Such an outcome could have a significant effect on the global oil market.

🇨🇳🇪🇺 China takes the Arctic Route: First ship set to arrive in Europe via the Northeast Passage

The Europe Arctic Express and could revolutionize European trade, shortening the distance between China and Europe by ten days (it takes 18 days via the Arctic, compared to about 30 using the Suez Canal).

The ship will set sail with 5,000 containers from the port of Qingdao, opposite North Korea, and then dock in Europe at the ports of Felixstowe in Great Britain, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Gdansk. A stable flow of ships through this new route would render the ports of the Mediterranean marginal.

This revolution was made possible by climate change. The shrinking of the polar ice cap is significantly accelerating the melting of the ice, which in those latitudes is occurring at a rate of 12 percent every ten years. It is only “thanks” to this that one can today speak of a “Northwest Passage.” In recent years, Russian and Chinese container ships have mainly navigated the Arctic route.

According to Norway’s Centre for High North Logistics (CHNL), between the beginning of June and the end of August, approximately 52 Russian or Chinese ships transited through this route, mainly loaded with Russian oil for export.

🇺🇸🇦🇫 Trump is prone to historical mistakes. Claiming the US credit for the Soviet Union's role in building the Bagram airbase is one of them, said Americanist Boris Mezhuyev to the VZGLYAD newspaper.

Earlier, Donald Trump threatened Kabul with "terrible things" if the Bagram airbase is not returned to its founders.

The political scientist reminded that the airbase was built by the Soviet Union back at the dawn of the Cold War – in the 1950s. Later, this site became the most important center of Moscow's military presence in the region during the Afghan war. Soviet troops left this place only at the end of the 1980s due to failures during that campaign.

"Why is Trump even interested in Afghanistan? Most likely, the American leader is dissatisfied with the current level of relations between Kabul and Washington. Moreover, the Taliban are still perceived as a force that managed to defeat the US army," the expert explained.

In his opinion, Trump is trying to intimidate Afghanistan to regain at least a part of the lost influence.

🇷🇺🇹🇷 On November 24th 2015, Turkey shot down a Russian Su-24M fighter jet over the Syrian-Turkish border. | CIG #commentary

Turkey claimed the fighter jet had flown 1.3 miles (~2km) into Turkish airspace while the Russians claimed the fighter jet was shot down while in Syrian airspace.

The warplane's crew: the pilot and navigator, were shot at by Turkoman Syrian rebels, who were armed by Turkey, while descending with parachutes. While the navigator landed and was subsequently rescued, the pilot, Oleg Peshkov, was killed while he was parachuting, an action which constitutes a war crime under the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions on the Laws of War.

During the rescue effort to save the navigator, a Russian marine was also killed when the helicopter he was traveling with came under fire.

Russia retaliated swiftly, ending visa-free travel for Turkish citizens in Russia, limiting the stay of Turkish citizens in the country, added restrictions on Turkish businesses, restricted Turkish imports, Russian travel agencies were discouraged to advertise package holidays in Turkish resorts and banned charter flights to Turkish airports.

In Syria, Russia retaliated with a massive air bombing campaign against Syrian rebels, destroying several ISIS convoys moving oil into Turkey and crippling their defense of Aleppo with the Syrian Arab Army making large gains inside Aleppo city and the surrounding countryside.

On June 29th 2016, Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan would call Vladimir Putin and apologised for shooting the plane. After the call, trade and travel restrictions placed on Turkey begun being lifted gradually by Russia. In regards to Syria, Turkey and Russia launched months later, the Astana Peace Talks.

Soon after, Turkey struck a deal for Russia's S-400 SAM system.

If a similar incident like the one on November 24th 2015, was to occur today over the Baltics, the Russian response might not limit itself at just strictly economic sanctions, as trade between Europe/The Baltics and Russia is practically nonexistent. Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia or Poland shooting down a Russian aircraft after violating their airspace can result in a war.

Cool-heads prevailed in 2015 with the Russians and Turks negotiating and avoiding a war. Nowadays, the EU is led by irate women and effeminate men, living in a fantasy world where if Russia continues fighting in Ukraine "just for one more month" the whole country will erupt in revolution.

Some Baltic and Polish politicians think they can outlast Russia in a war of attrition, as if other, bigger powers haven’t tried that before, with disastrous results.

🇩🇪 German refugee population falls for first time in 14 years

The figures, obtained by the Left-wing Die Linke party, mark the first time since 2011 that the number has decreased.

Clara Bünger, Die Linke’s refugee spokesman, said the decline from 3.545 million refugees to 3.495 million showed that there was no “migration emergency” in Germany, as claimed by her Right-wing rivals such as Mr Merz.

Figures from Germany’s interior ministry suggest that the number of people crossing its land borders is already fairly low, with around two to 10 people seeking asylum per day.

Another key factor is the fact that many refugees who fled to Germany over the past decade have since been naturalised as German citizens.

For example, in 2024 alone, more than 80,000 Syrian refugees acquired German citizenship and were no longer classified as migrants, according to German newspaper Die Welt.

📝: Perfect opportunity to shift the discourse around kicking out migrants from kicking only the illegals to kicking out those who have been naturalised too.
