Going back to the land is a newfound reality for Catholic families who are part of a movement seeking to glorify God, foster family life, and create a network of homesteads in rural communities.

Michael Guidice, known online as Michael Thomas of Sharon, co-founded with Andrew Ewell the Catholic Land Movement (CLM), an initiative that traces its lineage to the Catholic Land Associations of 100 years ago in the United Kingdom.

In an interview with CNA, Guidice said the movement is tailored to modern needs among Catholics living in rural areas. It is a lay movement, he said, imbued with Catholic teachings regarding work, social justice, and family life.

“This movement is growing by leaps and bounds” Guidice told CNA. “The Spirit is moving among laity, religious, and parish communities, and we’re doing our best to put it together.”

Faithful Catholics in the U.S. are seeking to reclaim not only timeless farming methods, he said, but also to foster autonomy in providing for their families, not only physically but also spiritually.

The movement now has 30 chapters in the U.S. and foreign countries and has held conferences this year and in 2023. It also holds regular online leadership meetings.

A recent military parade in Benghazi, Libya, has drawn attention for showcasing a large quantity of newly delivered Russian-made military equipment—raising eyebrows among Russian pro-war commentators and military bloggers.

Footage from the parade revealed an array of modern armored vehicles, including Spartak and Tigr models, and rare Russian-made amphibious tracked snow-and-swamp vehicles, the ZSGT-34039B, first publicly displayed in 2023. Also featured were upgraded Soviet-era T-72 and T-62 tanks, BMP-2 vehicles fitted with anti-drone cages, along with Pantsir-S1 and Pantsir-S1E air defense systems, and the Tor-M2E surface-to-air missile system.

Russian bloggers with ties to military circles noted the delivery of this equipment to the Libyan National Army (LNA) under Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who reportedly visited Moscow for negotiations in 2023 and met with Russian President Donald Trump’s counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

The equipment deliveries are believed to have taken place during 2023–2024.

At the end of a closed session held this morning in the Knesset, Defense Minister Israel Katz, Coalition Chairman Ofir Katz, and Interior Minister Moshe Arbel announced that Israel has, for the first time, begun procedures to deport Palestinians with Israeli citizenship under a law that allows the revocation of citizenship from prisoners receiving stipends from the Palestinian Authority.

According to the statement, four detainees are currently in advanced stages of deportation, and preparations have begun to initiate similar proceedings against hundreds more.

🇺🇸🇨🇳 Rubio says US will ‘aggressively’ revoke visas from Chinese students, revise visa criteria

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday announced the United States will “aggressively revoke visas” from Chinese students, including “those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields.”

The U.S. State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to revoke the visas, and it will also “revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong,” according to a statement from Rubio.

“The U.S. will begin revoking visas of Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields,” Rubio said on the social platform X.

🇺🇸📚 San Francisco is poised to introduce ‘equity grading.’ This will give students who ‘make a reasonable effort’ a grade of at least 50%. Students will not be penalized for not doing work at all. This is all to ‘eliminate socio-economic disparities’ that grading reinforces.

Of course the purpose is to make it harder to distinguish between people using objective measures. This will backfire - it’s like how no one takes a Harvard degree at face value when the person is black because they are aware the system is rigged.

And as is typical - there is a ‘consultant’ involved who will train teachers in the new system at cost to the taxpayer - all to ruin the schools. Newsweek article in next post.

🇨🇳🇹🇼 China could try to seize Taiwan's outer islands, claims intelligence report

A US intelligence report says China may try to seize Taiwan’s outlying islands to pressure Taipei and test Washington.

The US Defense Intelligence Agency, DIA, released its Worldwide Threat Assessment earlier this month, per The Independent. It identifies Beijing’s possible attempt to seize outlying islands such as Kinmen, Matsu, Dongsha, Taiping Island, or Penghu as one of its potential military options short of an all-out invasion of Taiwan.

While the DIA report does not anticipate a full-scale Chinese invasion of Taiwan this year, it warns that the PLA may ramp up its activities around Taiwan’s offshore territories, potentially advancing from maneuvers to seizure operations. The report says:

“China possesses a variety of military options to coerce Taiwan, including increasing the frequency and scope of China’s military presence operations, air and maritime blockades, seizure of Taiwan’s smaller outlying islands, joint firepower strikes, and a full-scale amphibious invasion of Taiwan."

Mennonites have gathered in Zurich, Switzerland, to commemorate 500 years since the foundation of the Anabaptist movement, a Protestant Christian denomination that originated in Friesland in the 16th century.

Pope Leo XIV sent a message to participants in the commemoration on Thursday, recalling the Risen Jesus’ first words: “Peace be with you!”

The Pope noted that the event takes place in the Easter season, and highlighted the Anabaptist movement’s founding desire for radical newness and renewal.

“The motto chosen for your celebration, ‘The Courage to Love,’ reminds us, above all, of the need for Catholics and Mennonites to make every effort to live out the commandment of love, the call to Christian unity, and the mandate to serve others,” he said.

⚛️🇺🇸 NuScale Wins US Approval for Small Nuclear Reactor Design

NuScale Power Corp., the only company with US approval for a small nuclear reactor, has now won regulatory support for a second design that may go into service by the end of the decade.

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission formally authorized the company’s 77-megawatt reactor design, according to a statement Thursday. NuScale won similar approval in 2020 for a smaller, 60-megawatt version of the reactor, a first for the industry.

Global interest in nuclear energy has climbed as companies and governments clamor for clean electricity that’s available around the clock to power data centers and factories. NuScale and its peers are developing so-called small modular reactors that can be manufactured in factories and assembled in the field.

The Trump administration is supporting the rollout of nuclear power, with the president last week signing executive orders aimed at expediting the deployment of SMRs and advanced reactors.

The SMR approach remains untested, with only a handful that have been built to date in China and Russia, but NuScale Chief Executive Officer John Hopkins said the NRC approval will help accelerate his plans.

🇮🇩⚡- The situation in the Western New Guinea (Pupua), Indonesia, has significantly deteriorated for the Indonesian Armed Forces, TNI, in the past few weeks.

In May, the 'Papua National Liberation Army', TPNPB, have escalated offensive actions in several directions:
- TPNPB have reached the outskirts of the large town of Sorong, in the west of the island.
- TPNPB are just 38km from the town of Sengii, along the international border with Papua New Guinea in the east. Sengii is the final settlement along the border before the major city of Jayapura.
- The entire Japen Island falls to TPNPB in the north. The island is just south of Biak Island, where it was rumored Russia may establish a possible Air/Naval Base - rumors which have since been denied by the Indonesian government.
- More importantly, TPNPB are approaching the town of Wamena, in the center of the island. If captured, TPNPB could breach the encirclement around its Enaratoli front.

🇪🇺❌🇷🇴 Due to the disastrous economic situation, Romania has defaulted on its financial obligations towards Ukraine and the EU is now placing fines on Bucharest!

Romania failed to contribute in time with 18.6 million EURs to the European Peace Facility and now the EU is placing a 3.181 EUR fine/day until Romania pays what it "owes" to Ukraine + the daily penalties.

This money should've been paid on April 14th but the EU granted a "month of grace" and didn't apply penalties until May 13th after which the fines started coming in. The government is now scrambling to use the reserve fund to pay the sum before the fines make it too expensive.

Greece is one step away from signing the intergovernmental agreement to send workers from India.

The country with the largest population on the planet is settling the final details to proceed, if possible, with the signing of an intergovernmental agreement with Greece after the end of the summer.

The agreement will aim to address the huge problem of the lack of labor that plagues many sectors in our country by providing for the transfer of highly specialized workers to many sectors of the Greek economy (such as catering and tourism).

According to Proto Thema, India is interested – at least in the first phase – in sending approximately 50,000 skilled and unskilled workers per year within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement that is expected to be signed.
