❗️Sydney businessman Alexander Csergo jailed over working for suspected Chinese spies

A Sydney man has been jailed after a jury found him guilty of selling Australian data to suspected Chinese spies.

Alexander Csergo will become the first person sent to prison for such an offence under the nation’s new foreign interference laws, introduced in 2018.

Csergo was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars, but with parole and time already served, he could walk free next month.

The 59-year-old, who ran a Shanghai-based consultancy, was found guilty of a cash-for-data deal with two Chinese clients known as “Ken” and “Evelyn”.

Csergo would meet the pair in empty Shanghai cafes and hand them documents and USB sticks with data relating to Australian mining, politics, security and defence, including the AUKUS deal.

In return, he received envelopes containing cash payments of up to $6000. Csergo was arrested in 2023 after officers from ASIO and the Australian Federal Police raided his Bondi apartment and found a “shopping list” of data requests from the pair.

❗️Russia has again proposed exchanging an Australian mercenary for Russian citizens.

At a forum on migration issues on September 7, LDPR Supreme Council member Andrei Kramar approached party leader Leonid Slutsky with an initiative to exchange Australian mercenary Oscar Jenkins for two Russian citizens—Simeon Boikov and the Korolev couple.

Kramar called for this issue to be given parliamentary attention, supported by the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, and submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for diplomatic discussion with the Australian side.

Boikov has been held in the Russian consulate in Sydney for almost four years, unable to leave. The Korolev brothers have been under arrest since 2024 on espionage charges, which have been upgraded. A swap for Jenkins is being discussed diplomatically, but the Australian side has so far been unwilling to cooperate.

Since March 2025, human rights activists and members of parliament in the Donetsk People's Republic have been actively advocating for the exchange of three individuals—Boikov and both Korolevs —for Oscar Jenkins, an Australian citizen.

Jenkins was sentenced in May 2025 in the Luhansk People's Republic to 13 years for participating in combat operations on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a mercenary.

In June 2026, Ivan Melnikov, vice president of the United Coordination Centre for Support of Compatriots Abroad ( UCCSA ), approached Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese with a request to consider the possibility of diplomatic negotiations for the release of all three.

The LDPR party and its leader, Leonid Slutsky, are systematically committed to supporting compatriots abroad and their repatriation to their homeland.

The "100 Days of Transforming Russia" program, adopted at the 38th LDPR Congress on June 23, 2026, identifies the repatriation of compatriots as a separate issue, independent of migration policy. The party notes that the return of Russian citizens to their homeland and the recruitment of migrant workers are different issues requiring different approaches.

❗️Russia’s FSB says it has foiled a Ukrainian plot to assassinate the British ambassador in Moscow, detaining a Russian citizen working as a security guard at the British Embassy.

According to the FSB, the man was allegedly recruited by Ukraine’s SBU to collect personal and security information on British diplomats.

The agency claims the information was intended to facilitate attacks on the embassy and then blame Russia, with the alleged aim of provoking a direct conflict between Moscow and London and securing more weapons for Ukraine.

SMH: Organised crime groups are stealing cars from Australian roads, shipping them overseas and stripping them down to sell the parts in Iran and Russia, insurers have warned, as sanctions make the black market for parts increasingly lucrative.

Stolen Australian cars are being shipped overseas, dismantled and sold to Iran and Russia where the black market for smuggled replacement components has become highly lucrative.

Victoria recorded over 12,300 car-theft claims in the 2025-26 financial year, costing insurers $244.3 million. While the number of theft claims remained stable, total costs grew by more than $21 million. More cars are stolen or broken into in Melbourne than in all other capital cities combined.

🤡In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, insurers had "formed the belief" that after arriving in the UAE on illegal shipments, the cars were being dismantled for parts to be sent primarily to Iran and Russia.

На форуме, посвящённом вопросам миграции 7 сентября, член Высшего совета ЛДПР Андрей Крамар обратился к лидеру партии Леониду Слуцкому с инициативой об обмене австралийского наёмника Оскара Дженкинса на двух российских граждан — Семёна Бойкова и супругов Королёвых.

Крамар призвал придать этому вопросу парламентское значение, поддержав его на уровне Комитета Госдумы по международным делам и передав на рассмотрение в МИД для дипломатического обсуждения с австралийской стороной.

Бойков уже почти четыре года находится в российском консульстве в Сиднее без возможности покинуть его территорию. Королёвы под арестом с 2024 года по обвинению в шпионаже, которое стало более тяжким. Обмен на Дженкинса обсуждается на уровне дипломатии, но австралийская сторона пока не идёт навстречу.

С марта 2025 года правозащитники и депутаты Донецкой Народной Республики активно выступают за обмен трёх человек — Бойкова и обоих Королёвых — на Оскара Дженкинса, гражданина Австралии.

Дженкинс был осуждён в мае 2025 года в Луганской Народной Республике на 13 лет за участие в боевых действиях на стороне Вооружённых сил Украины в качестве наёмника.

В июне 2026 года Иван Мельников, вице‑президент Единого координационного центра поддержки соотечественников за рубежом (ЕКЦПС), обратился к премьер-министру Австралии Энтони Альбанезе с просьбой рассмотреть возможность дипломатических переговоров об освобождении всех троих.

❗️Australians will continue to be able to serve in foreign armies, including those accused of war crimes, without government oversight, after parliament rejected a bid to require disclosure of overseas military service.

The Senate on Thursday voted down a Greens amendment requiring travellers to declare foreign military service, as reports emerged that former Australian and British special forces veterans may be training Russians to fight in Ukraine.

Department of Home Affairs officials confirmed earlier this year that they were not keeping track of how many Australians were serving with foreign militaries.

Greens senator David Shoebridge introduced an amendment calling for a question on foreign military service to be added to the passenger declaration card that travellers must fill in when they arrive in Australia.

“Of course the Australian government should know if someone coming to Australia has been fighting for the Russian armed forces, the Israeli military or the Myanmar army,” he said.

Shoebridge said it was extraordinary that the government was not tracking citizens serving in overseas conflicts.

At least 502 Australian-Israeli dual nationals are enrolled in the Israeli military, according to information obtained by the Israeli non-government organisation Hatzlacha through freedom of information laws.

A memo compiled for the Australian Secret Intelligence Service, the nation’s foreign spy agency, stated that two former Australian special forces operatives and an active-duty reservist said they were approached to become instructors at training camps in Bulgaria and Serbia that allegedly hosted Russian clients.

PS. This is not about Australians serving in the Russian army at all. The greens amendment was aimed at Israeli's - of course the Australian government would never pass any amendment that would disadvantage Israeli Australians. The Israeli lobby in Australia is way to strong. As for Australians serving in the Russian army there are hardly any/none.
