❗️A very interesting article on how the Australian Government funds media operations in the Indo-Pacific region to spread influence. DFAT is directly involved in the funding operations which are now being scaled back to save money:

Since the second world war, Australia has provided news services across this geopolitically significant region. Later it became a trusted public news service via the national broadcaster, the ABC, and its international arms, Radio Australia and Australia Television."

PS. So when China or Russia does this its bad - but when Australia openly funds influence operations through media and journalism then its good? The hypocrisy is next level.

I would like to thank everyone involved, first and foremost President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, but also everyone who took part in this effort, this exercise, and the Russian and Belarusian servicepeople for their excellent organisation, competence and precision. Such joint efforts undoubtedly do much to strengthen our brotherhood in arms and the coherence of our units and formations. 

It is crucial to continue improving the combat readiness of both strategic and tactical nuclear forces and to further develop all their components.

 At the same time, as I have said before, we do not intend to be drawn into an arms race. Our nuclear triad will remain at the necessary level of capability. We are doing everything that was planned decades ago. We are working systematically, clearly and in coordination, and thankfully, everything is proceeding successfully.

Also, Lukashenko said that Belarus and Russia do not threaten anyone, but are ready to defend their common homeland from Brest to Vladivostok.

❗️Two Russian jets have intercepted a Royal Air Force plane over the Black Sea, according to a new report from the UK Ministry of Defence.

In April, the RAF Rivet Joint aircraft, an unarmed reconnaissance plane, claimed to be flying through international airspace when the incident occurred.

But the routine was broken when a Sukhoi Su-35 flew close enough to trigger the Rivet Joint's emergency systems, including disabling its autopilot.

Then another jet, an Su-27, flew in, conducting six passes in front of the RAF plane, coming within six metres of the Rivet Joint's nose.

Defence Secretary John Healey said this was "another example of dangerous and unacceptable behaviour by Russian pilots".

❗️The two brothers of Bondi Beach terror attack hero, Ahmed Al Ahmed, allegedly flew to Sydney from the Middle East after they became aware that he had struck a $2.6 million dollar GoFundMe windfall.

In the wake of Mr Al Ahmed’s heroic actions, people from across the globe donated more than $2.6m to him through a GoFundMe page set up to help with Mr Al Ahmed’s medical costs.

When news of this filtered out to his brothers, Sameh Al Ahmed and Hozaifa Al Ahmed, who were both living in the Middle East at the time, they both immediately booked flights to Australia.

They then reached Sydney and both immediately began living with Mr Al Ahmed and their father at a home in Bankstown.

Police allege the relationship between the siblings quickly broke down when they started demanding a slice of the money, causing Mr Al Ahmed to leave the family home and move to another address in Sans Souci.

It is alleged Hosaifa phoned his brother on May 7 and said “if you’re a man, you would come here. I will put your head under my boot, break your other arm and smash your face. We will only leave if you give us $100,000 each”

“This situation is going to get worse for you,” Hosaifa allegedly said.

“If you want peace of mind and to be safe, you will give us $100,000 each,” Sameh allegedly replied.

Both men were charged with using a carriage service to harass or offend and were granted conditional bail despite being on tourists visas.

The duo fronted Bankstown Local Court for the first time on Wednesday, when they entered pleas of not guilty.

Tony Burke did not comment on whether their visas would be cancelled.

❗️Over the past 24 hours, investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee have documented new crimes committed by Ukrainian armed formations against civilians in the DPR.

As a result of a strike drone attack on a residential area in Novopetrikovka (Velikonovoselkovsky district), 3 civilians were wounded of varying severity.

Ukrainian militants also carried out multiple attacks using fixed-wing strike UAVs on residential neighborhoods in the Central City and Kalininsky districts of Gorlovka.

In total, shelling damaged 2 residential houses, 1 civilian infrastructure facility, and 1 passenger car in the DPR.
