❗Full statement of the Russian Defense Ministry:

"Tonight, in response to the terrorist attack by the Kiev regime on the residence of the President of the Russian Federation in the Novgorod region, carried out on the night of December 29, 2025, the Russian Armed Forces have launched a massive strike with high-precision long-range ground and sea-based weapons, including the mobile medium-range ground-based missile system 'Oreshnik', as well as drone strikes on critical facilities in Ukraine.

The objectives of the strike have been achieved. The targets of the attack were the production facilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, which were used in the terrorist attack, as well as the energy infrastructure that supports the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex.

Any terrorist actions by the criminal Ukrainian regime will continue to receive a response".

⚡️A ship’s flag does not equal ownership: until yesterday it was owned by a Ukrainian national (now reportedly American-owned).

The Russian basketball player Kasatkin was exchanged for the French foreign agent Vinatier, who was convicted in Russia, the FSB reported. Daniil was released from a French prison, where he had been since June 2025, and has already returned to Moscow.

The basketball player was detained in France, accused of involvement in cybercrimes. The USA demanded the extradition of the athlete, who faced up to 25 years in prison there.

❗The FSB confirmed the return to Russia of Russian basketball player Daniil Kasatkin who was detained in France

"On January 8, 2026, the Russian citizen and basketball player Daniil Kasatkin, who was detained in France, was returned to his homeland. His extradition to the USA was demanded by American authorities," the FSB of Russia said in a statement.

Kasatkin was exchanged for the Frenchman Laurent Vinatier who had been convicted in Russia.

The Russian athlete was detained on July 9 in France at the request of the USA. Washington claims that the hacker network, in which Kasatkin allegedly participated, carried out attacks on 900 organizations, including cyberattacks on two federal American institutions.
