❗The Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ryabkov clarified his statement that Ukraine and Russia are "on the verge" of a peace agreement.

He explained this by saying that Russia and the US have "significant similarities in their positions, which could form the framework for an agreement". However, he did not agree that the teams of Trump and Putin are acting in unison.

"I would be cautious about talking about unison but there's no direct dissonance either. As for being "on the verge" or "on the brink", of course, everything is relative. This should not be understood as an expectation of signing a package of documents right now, absolutely not. But if we compare where we were before the Trump administration came to the White House with the current situation, it's a big step forward," said Ryabkov.

❗️At the initiative of Dmitry Mironov, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, the "Machine of Miracles" campaign has been organized in the Yaroslavl region for the fourth year in a row.

The campaign aims to support families of SMO participants, large families, and those raising children with disabilities.

This year, the "Machine of Miracles" will grant the wishes of over 100 children.

Each family received gifts and a personal congratulatory letter from the Aide to the President of the Russian Federation.

Until the New Year, the "Machine of Miracles" will travel throughout the municipal districts of the Yaroslavl region, delivering sweets and certificates to sporting goods stores, as well as household appliances that families need according to their wishes.

Families will receive gifts of refrigerators, televisions, laptops and tablets for school, gas boilers, ovens, and food processors.

❗️A NSW Labor backbencher has warned proposed protest laws restricting public assemblies for up to three months after a terrorist attack “could go so wrong” and are likely unconstitutional.

Upper house member Stephen Lawrence, who is also a barrister specialising in public law, has told parliament he believes the laws will limit the implied freedom of political communication in the Australian constitution.

Many have seen the legislation, which would prevent the authorisation of public assemblies under NSW’s form 1 system following a terrorist incident, as effectively banning all protests. Lawrence says a provision allowing a “public assembly restriction declaration” or “Pard” to be made if there is a concern for public safety would be satisfied “by any large protest at any time”.

❗️Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was reportedly the target of an alleged abduction and violence plot, with the AFP charging a man from Sydney after the Bondi Beach terror attack.

The man, a 27-year-old from Beacon Hill, was charged on Sunday, December 21, after the AFP National Security Investigations (NSI) looked into an online threat.

“It will be alleged the man made an online post calling for the kidnapping of the federal parliamentarian,” an AFP spokesperson said.

The man fronted court in Manly on Monday over charges he used social media to threaten a politician.

Reports now claim that the federal politician allegedly targeted was Mr Albanese.
