❗️A Ukrainian soldier stated on social media that his mother was attacked by a police officer during an attempt to seize the St. Nicholas Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Verkhni Stanivtsi in the Chernovtsy region.

"Hero, are you ready to do to me the same thing you did to my mother? I'm waiting for you to write to me. Or can you only do that to women?" he wrote on Facebook.

❗️The FSB arrested a citizen of Moldova in Russia, he is accused of smuggling explosives at the behest of Ukraine.

Marius Prunyanu reportedly fought on behalf of Ukraine in the past and is alleged to have transported the explosives in his SUV while traveling through the EU. He was supposedly promised a pistol for the purpose of "eliminating a specific individual."

❗️A Third of U.S. Companies Lose Right to Buy Back Assets Sold in Russia

According to Robert Agee, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, about one-third of U.S. companies that exited the Russian market since 2022 have lost the right to repurchase their former assets.

In an interview with Expert magazine, Agee explained that many firms initially secured call options—agreements allowing them to buy back sold assets within a set period.

👉 But a significant number of those options have already expired.

🔻 What changed?

In 2022, repurchase windows could be as long as 5 years.

By 2023, that shrank to 3 years.

Now, companies are reportedly no longer able to obtain such rights at all.

⚠️ Adding to the uncertainty, there's an ongoing debate in Russia about whether existing (but still valid) options should be honored at all.

🇷🇺 President Putin has emphasized that Western companies returning to Russia will get no special treatment—any comeback must happen on a competitive, market-driven basis.

❗️ABC NEWS: A potential diplomatic stand-off is emerging over Russia's next diplomatic appointment to Australia after the previous ambassador quietly departed over a week ago.

The ABC can reveal Dr Alexey Pavlovsky concluded his posting to Canberra on April 5 and flew out of the country, leaving Chargé d'Affaires Ms Yulia Gromyko as the Russian embassy's most senior diplomat.

Ambassador Pavlovsky began his posting to Canberra in 2019 and had been the federal government's main point of contact as it works to secure the release of Australian prisoner Oscar Jenkins, who was captured by Russia last year fighting for Ukraine.

A figure with knowledge of the Russian ambassador's departure claims the name of President Putin's proposed replacement has been given to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) but it is yet to be approved.

DFAT has not responded to questions about when it was first told of Ambassador Pavlovsky's departure, but under caretaker conventions requests for "agrément" to confirm new Heads of Mission cannot be made during an election campaign.

Alexey Pavlovsky has been Russia's longest serving ambassador to Australia since the collapse of the Soviet Union, but an embassy spokesperson told the ABC it would not comment on his departure or replacement, saying "as per the usual practice, such matters are kept confidential".

Members of Canberra's diplomatic corps have told the ABC that since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, Ambassador Pavlovsky has been shunned from most other embassy events and has instead dealt mainly with Russia's diaspora community.
