A severe heatwave sweeping Iran has disrupted water and electricity supplies in much of the country, with reservoir levels falling to their lowest in a century, Iranian state media said Tuesday. Extreme temperatures, which began on Friday, are expected to ease gradually by Thursday, according to meteorological authorities.
Iranians have reported water and power cuts lasting for hours in the past few days, and authorities have closed government offices and called on citizens to conserve water amid the drought, which Iran has been mired in for 5 years. Temperatures have exceeded 50C (122F) in some parts of Iran.

Syria and Saudi Arabia announced 47 investment agreements valued at over $6 billion in Damascus on Thursday at the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum.
The agreements signed at the forum cover a wide range of sectors, including real estate, telecommunications and finance. The planned projects include housing, the reconstruction of war-damaged areas, the development of tourism, medical and entertainment sites, skyscrapers, and three new cement factories.
Syrian Minister of Information Hamza al-Mustafa said the deals are expected to create around 50,000 direct and 150,000 indirect job opportunities.

Meanwhile, Thailand's health minister, Somsak Thepsuthin, said 12 people, including 11 civilians and one soldier, were killed in artillery shelling by Cambodian forces. He added that 24 civilians and seven military personnel were wounded.

An Antonov An‑24 operated by Angara Airlines crashed near Tynda, in Russia’s Amur region, not far from the China border, after losing contact during approach.
The aircraft carried 43 passengers (including 5 children) and 6 crew members, according to the regional governor. Emergency services estimated around 40 people onboard.
Rescuers located the burning fuselage approximately 15 km from the airport, but no survivors have been sighted.
The regional emergencies ministry confirmed the aircraft caught fire on impact; all onboard are presumed killed, as per initial assessments.

                    🇦🇫🪖 | Taliban Army Chief Announces Military Downsizing And Aircraft Recovery Update
Afghanistan's Chief of Army Staff Fasihuddin Fitrat said that the Taliban currently fields a military of 150,000 personnel, and said the military has been reducing its size by 20%.
He added that ongoing efforts to recover military aircraft stationed in Uzbekistan that belonged to the fallen republican government have not born fruit yet, but said that the Taliban would not give up on trying to recover them.
Fitrat also addressed the situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, stating that the Taliban had established 15 brigades, three battalions, and 765 border outposts over the past year.
According to Fitrat, 340 kilometers of road have been constructed in border regions to connect security outposts, and at least 13 coordination centers with neighboring countries have been planned, of which seven are operational.
