🇮🇳✈️ | Indian Air Force To Retire Aging MiG-21 Fleet In September
The Indian Air Force will retire its remaining Russian-made MiG-21 fighter jet fleet in a ceremony on September 19. The IAF currently actively operates two squadrons of the Cold War-era MiG-21 Bison.
India has a sanctioned fighter squadron strength of 42, but currently has 31 active squadrons. The phasing out of the MiG-21 fleet will further bring down the IAF's active combat strength to 29 squadrons, the lowest since the 1960s, even as rivals Pakistan & China continue jointly upgrading and expanding their air forces.
The MiG-21 also earned the dubious label of "the flying coffin" in India, as over 500 MiG-21s have crashed in the last 60 years in the IAF's service, killing over 170 Indian pilots, according to government data.

🇸🇾⚡ | Bedouin Fighters Leave Suwayda, But Tell BBC They Could Return
While Muslim bedouin tribal fighters already left Suwayda earlier and have been largely observing a government-mediated ceasefire deal with Druze militias, they also told the BBC that they have not ruled out resuming hostilities with the Druze.
At least hundreds of bedouin fighters are crowding near checkpoints near Suwayda city, which are guarded by Syrian security forces ensuring that they do not re-enter.
However, the bedouins said that Druze militias are still not releasing detained bedouins. The fighters demanded the release of injured bedouins still in the city of Suwayda, who they refer to as hostages. Otherwise, they said that they will force their way past the checkpoint and head back into the city, even if they must confront security forces and fight Druze militias once more.
"We did what the government have ordered us and we are committed to the agreement, and the government words and we came back, Suwayda is 35km far from here... Currently our hostages and wounded are there, they (Druze) are refusing to give us anyone... If they don't commit to the agreement we are going to enter again, even if Suwayda will become our cemetery," a bedouin tribal elder told the BBC.
