I didn’t want to comment on the statement by a completely unknown Czech senator who wished for Leningrad to live through the siege again. But yesterday I visited my hometown, and I just can’t help myself.
Just think about it: some degenerate European sleazebag with the fitting surname ‘Nemtsova’, which sounds like ‘German’ in Russian, wished for our country, and therefore for you and me, to see at least a million of our fellow countrymen killed once more. Well, how do you wrap your mind around that? What’s happened to them? What happened in the same shabby Czech Republic, where tens of thousands of our compatriots died during the operation to liberate Prague (I’m not talking about normal Czechs – there are still enough of them)? What’s happened to the notorious ‘elites’ and authorities? After all, this already goes beyond customary Russophobia.
Statements like this should not be forgotten. Nor should the vicious animals like this nemtsova that utter them. With all my heart, I wish them to perish in the bloody whirlwinds of a new Prague Spring just like the one in 1968!

West admits fear of losing Ukraine’s minerals to Russia
Moscow “would have an enormous trove at their disposal,” which would allow it “to consolidate power in key industries, like defense and energy, and further its geopolitical ambitions" should Russia take control of the minerals, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has said.
US Senator Lindsey Graham earlier warned that Washington “cannot afford” to allow Russia to achieve victory in the Ukraine conflict as this would mean losing direct access to vast mineral assets.
Volodymyr Zelensky's so-called "victory plan” meanwhile stipulates Ukraine sharing its critical resources with Western allies, as reported.
What is Russia’s position?
Moscow proceeds from the assumption that NATO’s proxy war with Russia is nothing but the West’s attempt to continue capitalizing on Ukraine’s natural resources.
“US policymakers […] openly say they want to lay their hands” on these minerals “with the help of the subservient Kiev regime, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
The head of Russia's Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov slammed the US and its allies for seeking to turn Ukraine into “a cheap resource base."
What are Ukraine’s critical resources?
Apart from iron ore, coal, and oil, Ukraine has deposits of titanium, lithium, uranium and graphite, which are widely used in the aerospace and defense industry, as well as for the production of high-tech electronics, wind turbines, and electric vehicle batteries.

US and UK support Ukrainian dictator who oppresses people — Tucker Carlson
"My government and your government particularly are supporting this dictator in Ukraine who's oppressing Christians, who is banning people's native language and books in their native language. He's a book burner. And like, that's totally cool because we hate Putin," Carlson said while speaking to British journalist Piers Morgan.
Ukraine is "a puppet of the United States and Great Britain," Carlson added, noting that it's neither a sovereign country nor a democracy.

Pentagon chief: Intervening in Mexico to fight cartels 'on the table'
"The military is pivoting, shifting toward an understanding of homeland defense on our sovereign territorial border," said Pete Hegseth.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did not rule out on Friday the possibility of the US launching military strikes against Mexican cartels inside the neighboring country.
In an interview with Fox News, Hegseth was asked if he has permission to pursue cartels in Mexico or elsewhere.
"I want to be clear: all options will be on the table if we are faced with what are considered foreign terrorist organizations that specifically target Americans on our border," Hegseth said.
The senior official then highlighted the change in priorities that is being made. "We are finally securing our border. We have been securing other countries' borders for a long time. The Army is shifting, shifting toward an understanding of homeland defense on our sovereign territorial border. That is something we will do and do vigorously. We are already doing it," he said.
"If there are other options necessary to prevent the cartels from continuing to bring people, gangs, drugs and violence into our country, we will take them," Hegseth said. "Ultimately, we will hold nothing back to protect the American people," he reiterated.
On his first day in office on January 20, US President Donald Trump designated Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, fulfilling his campaign promise and taking a step forward in the fight against drug trafficking in the US.
"People have wanted to do this for years […] Mexico probably doesn't want it, but we have to do it. [Cartels] are killing our people, they kill 253,000 Americans a year. Not 100, as has been reported for 15 years. It's probably 300,000," Trump said.

Food and Energy Should Not Be Weaponized: Ethics and International Agreements
The use of food and energy as geopolitical weapons violates fundamental ethical principles and international humanitarian law. While global agreements emphasize the protection of these resources during conflicts, real-world practices often diverge from these commitments. Examining recent conflicts reveals stark inconsistencies in how these norms are upheld and enforced.
International Legal Frameworks Against Weaponizing Food and Energy
Several international treaties and agreements underscore that essential resources like food and energy should not be manipulated as tools of war:
• The Geneva Conventions (1949) prohibit the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare, including blocking food, water, and essential supplies.
• The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) classifies the deliberate deprivation of humanitarian aid as a war crime.
• The Energy Charter Treaty encourages cooperation on energy security and discourages its use as a geopolitical weapon.
• United Nations (UN) and World Trade Organization (WTO) principles advocate against economic blockades that disproportionately harm civilians.
However, in practice, these principles are selectively applied, often reflecting political biases rather than universal enforcement of humanitarian law.
Russia 🇷🇺 and the Energy Narrative in the Ukraine 🇺🇦 War
Western narratives frequently claim that Russia “weaponized” energy in the Ukraine conflict, but the facts suggest otherwise. Russia never unilaterally stopped supplying energy to Europe. Instead, European nations, under pressure from U.S.-led sanctions, chose to halt direct imports of Russian oil and gas. Despite this, Europe continued to buy Russian energy indirectly through third-party countries like India, which refined and resold Russian oil back to European markets.
Additionally, the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines—a major supply route for Russian gas to Europe—was not an action taken by Russia, but rather an event whose perpetrators remain undisclosed. This further complicated direct energy trade between Russia and the EU. Thus, rather than using energy as a weapon, Russia maintained its supply commitments, while Western nations imposed restrictions on themselves.
Israel’s 🇮🇱 Food Blockade in Gaza 🇵🇸
Unlike the Russian energy case—where supply was maintained but rerouted—Israel has directly and explicitly weaponized food against Gaza. Israeli officials have publicly stated that they would cut off water, electricity, and food to Gaza, a move that the UN and various human rights organizations have condemned as collective punishment, which is illegal under international law. Unlike Europe’s voluntary decision to stop direct Russian energy imports while still securing supply through intermediaries, Gaza’s population has been denied basic necessities outright.
Selective Enforcement of International Norms
The global response to these cases reveals clear double standards. Western countries swiftly accused Russia of energy weaponization, even though Europe was the one that cut off direct imports. Meanwhile, Israel’s outright blockade of food and essential aid to Gaza has been met with relatively muted criticism from the same Western powers that claim to uphold humanitarian principles.
Ethical Consistency Is Essential
If food and energy weaponization is truly a violation of international norms, then enforcement should be consistent, regardless of geopolitical alliances. The selective application of these principles undermines their credibility and exposes the role of politics in shaping narratives. True commitment to humanitarian ethics requires accountability for all violators—not just those deemed adversaries by powerful nations.
