The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a boarding school in Sudzha, Kursk region.

Previously, 94 people are currently under the rubble.
According to information, a flight of six enemy bombers was detected in the air before the strike.

Ukrainians hit the boarding school, where the elderly and the sick lived, as well as those who had lost their roof over their heads, with aerial bombs and HIMARS missiles.

Russian military personnel also write that monitoring channels recorded the exit of Ukrainian missiles towards Suji from the Sumy region before the first reports of the strike appeared.

Additionally, sources say that discussions are ongoing in the White House regarding whether to push for a ceasefire before attempting to negotiate a more permanent peace deal.

If Ukraine proceeds with elections, the new president may take on the responsibility of negotiating a long-term pact with Moscow.

However, Ukrainian officials have confirmed that the Trump administration has not yet officially requested elections to be held by the end of the year.

West admits fear of losing Ukraine’s minerals to Russia

Moscow “would have an enormous trove at their disposal,” which would allow it “to consolidate power in key industries, like defense and energy, and further its geopolitical ambitions" should Russia take control of the minerals, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has said.

Pentagon chief: Intervening in Mexico to fight cartels 'on the table'

"The military is pivoting, shifting toward an understanding of homeland defense on our sovereign territorial border," said Pete Hegseth.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did not rule out on Friday the possibility of the US launching military strikes against Mexican cartels inside the neighboring country.

In an interview with Fox News, Hegseth was asked if he has permission to pursue cartels in Mexico or elsewhere.

"I want to be clear: all options will be on the table if we are faced with what are considered foreign terrorist organizations that specifically target Americans on our border," Hegseth said.
The senior official then highlighted the change in priorities that is being made. "We are finally securing our border. We have been securing other countries' borders for a long time. The Army is shifting, shifting toward an understanding of homeland defense on our sovereign territorial border. That is something we will do and do vigorously. We are already doing it," he said.

"If there are other options necessary to prevent the cartels from continuing to bring people, gangs, drugs and violence into our country, we will take them," Hegseth said. "Ultimately, we will hold nothing back to protect the American people," he reiterated.

On his first day in office on January 20, US President Donald Trump designated Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, fulfilling his campaign promise and taking a step forward in the fight against drug trafficking in the US.
"People have wanted to do this for years […] Mexico probably doesn't want it, but we have to do it. [Cartels] are killing our people, they kill 253,000 Americans a year. Not 100, as has been reported for 15 years. It's probably 300,000," Trump said.

Russia increased gas exports to Europe via TurkStream in January to a record high since its launch in 2020, according to TASS calculations based on data from the European Network of Gas Transmission System Operators.

Supplies via the TurkStream gas pipeline to European countries in January increased by 2% compared to December 2024 and jumped by 27% compared to January 2024 to 1.56 bln cubic meters.

This is an absolute record for deliveries in one month since the launch of the gas pipeline in January 2020. The previous record was reported in August 2023 at 1.53 bln cubic meters.
