The European Union will approve measures in response to the US duties on April 9, put their first package into effect on April 15, and impose the rest on May 15, EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said after an informal EU ministerial meeting on trade in Luxembourg.

"The world is set for April 9th, with the final list adopted on April 15, and duties on products will kick in on that day for the first set of measures and on May 15th for the remaining ones," he said, stressing that the European Commission (EC) "while the EU remains open to and strongly prefers negotiations, we will not wait endlessly."

The Palestinian radical movement Hamas has accused Israel of deliberately attacking a group of Palestinian journalists in the city of Khan Yunis, where two media workers were killed and nine more injured, Hamas said on its Telegram channel.

Hamas claimed that the Israeli military attacked "a group of Palestinian journalists who were in a tent near the Nasser medical complex in Khan Yunis" in the south of the Gaza Strip. According to the radicals, many of the injured are in critical condition.

Russia and Venezuela are set to sign the Agreement on the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between the two countries this year, which marks the 80th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, the Russian Embassy in Venezuela said in a statement to Izvestia daily.

"This document is an important milestone in the development of the Russian-Venezuelan cooperation," the statement from the Russian embassy reads.

"Both parties have mutual interest in signing this document as soon as the opportunity arises," according to the embassy. "It would be symbolic to sign it on the anniversary year of 2025 (the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations)," the embassy’s statement added.
