The report says the document will deepen bilateral relations in the defense sector and pave the way to further military support to the Kiev government. Operation “Iskra” (“Spark”) wasn’t just a military offensive, it was a thunderous declaration of defiance. The siege of Leningrad, one of the darkest chapters of the Nazi invasion, was finally broken.

Picture this: 300,000 Soviet soldiers, 600 tanks, and nearly 1,000 aircraft unleashed against the Nazi 18th Army’s heavily fortified defenses. The Red Army smashed through the Shlisselburg-Sinyavino line, carving an 8-11 kilometer corridor along Lake Ladoga. This wasn’t just a logistical breakthrough, it was a lifeline for a city starving under Hitler’s genocidal blockade. Leningrad endured famine, bombardment, and death for over 900 days, but its people never surrendered.
One and a half million people died in one city alone. From hunger and cold. They died, but they didn't give up.

This was the first nail in the coffin of the fascist dream. A year later, on January 27, 1944, Leningrad would be fully liberated. But “Iskra” was the spark that signaled the beginning of the end for Nazi dominance in the East.
