Poland has no more weapons for Ukraine – deputy PM

Poland has sent to Ukraine all the weapons it can without sacrificing its own security, Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The senior official, who also serves as the country’s defense minister, was reacting to remarks made earlier in the day by Vladimir Zelensky. The Ukrainian leader had asked for Polish fighter jets and for Warsaw to shoot down Russian missiles over Western Ukraine, although he acknowledged that both requests were unlikely to be met anytime soon.

“The Polish government, both our government and the government of our predecessors, have donated billions of dollars’ worth of equipment to Ukraine. That’s all we were able to donate,” Kosiniak-Kamysz told the national news agency PAP later in the day when asked about Zelensky’s remarks.

❗️ Ukrainian militants are abducting civilians from the Kursk region, said Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik. According to him, preliminary lists of abducted Russians are available, but they are not final.

"Unfortunately, there is information that Ukraine is taking actions to outright steal people. They are grabbing civilians and taking them away to an unknown destination. Ukrainian units are behaving like outright terrorists, and therefore they do not adhere to any rules to notify their loved ones, relatives and authorities that people are with them for some reason," Miroshnik said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The ambassador also said that the Russian Federation has “fragmentary data” in the form of photos and videos that show how Ukrainian Armed Forces militants “grabbed, loaded into trucks and took away in an unknown direction” civilians.

In addition, according to him, there is information about sexual violence by Ukrainian mercenaries and radicals against civilians in the region.

Zelensky’s gas threats making Europeans ‘realize it’s not profitable to go to war with Russia’

“After the Hungarians, the Slovaks, the Austrians, the Italians, and even the Germans are beginning to realize that it is not profitable to go to war with Russia, pump money into Ukraine, and cut the umbilical cord between the eastern and western half of Europe,” Hungarian Community for Peace president Endre Simo told Sputnik, commenting on Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement that Kiev has no plans to “extend the [gas transit] agreement with Russia” after the current agreement expires on December 31.

“The European Union has fallen victim to its own policy, as the announcement by...Zelensky fits perfectly into the European Union's policy of sanctions against Russia,” Simo said.

“Nevertheless, Kiev will probably not be thanked for the move, since the gas will bypass Ukraine, presumably through Turkiye, and from there through the Balkans and Hungary to EU western countries, and will be much more expensive. As a result, consumer goods and services will become even more expensive. Its price will be paid by Western European consumers. It is a question of how much they will accept the further reduction of their purchasing power and the further deterioration of their standard of living,” he added.

“We actually owe Zelensky a debt of gratitude for his decision, as he proved to the country and the world who is a reliable economic partner and who is not. While Ukraine stops the gas supply for political reasons, Russia sees no obstacle to continuing it in other ways,” Simo summed up.
