UN Environment and WHO agree to major collaboration on environmental health risks

UN Environment and WHO have agreed a new, wide-ranging collaboration to accelerate action to curb environmental health risks that cause an estimated 12.6 million deaths a year. Today in Nairobi, Mr Erik Solheim, head of UN Environment, and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO, signed an agreement to step up joint actions to combat air pollution, climate change and antimicrobial resistance, as well as improve coordination on waste and chemicals management, water quality, and food and nutrition issues. The collaboration also includes joint management of the BreatheLife advocacy campaign to reduce air pollution for multiple climate, environment and health benefits.

#Strawberry Scrub
The berries are high in vitamin C, a nutrient that can remove plaque that causes the yellow look on teeth. Strawberries also have malic acid that can get rid of surface stains. The scrub also requires salt, which can remove stains, and baking soda (optional) for itswhitening properties. Here’s what you need to do:👇👇

1. Take one to three large strawberries and mash them to a pulp.
2. Add a pinch of sea salt. If you’re going to use baking soda,
add half a teaspoon of it.
3. Before you apply the scrub to your teeth using your

How to Get Rid Of Impetigo with Home Remedies?
Below are the best 19 ways to treat impetigo at the comfort of
your home. You can choose one among the methods and try it
regularly to get relief from the impetigo.
1. Warm Compress
Heat is one of the best ways to cure impetigo. It will kill the
bacteria that cause the infection. It also soothes the
inflammation and dries out the lesions.
Soak a wash cloth in enough amounts of hot water.
Wring out the excess and place it on the infected areas.
Remove it after few minutes.
Repeat the process several times in a day.
Note: A blow dryer can be used to apply heat on the affected
areas. Make sure to set the blow dryer at minimum.
2. White Vinegar
White vinegar contains antibacterial properties. It also promotes
healing process and maintains the affected area clean. By
following the below process you can make an antibiotic solution
for treating impetigo.
Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar into 2 cups of lukewarm
water.
Using a cotton ball, wash the affected areas with the
mixture.
Pat dry and apply any antibiotic ointment.
Secure the area with a bandage or gauze.
Repeat the process 2 – 3 times in a day until the infection
clears.
Note: Avoid harshly scrubbing the area as it can irritate the
skin.
3. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil prevents the infection from spreading as it contains
strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
To 1 tablespoon of olive oil, add few drops of tea tree oil.
Apply the mixture on the affected areas.
Let it sit for 20 – 30 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm
water.
Repeat the process 2 – 3 times in a day.
Note: You can also use jojoba oil instead of olive oil.
Alternative: Add few drops of tea tree oil to enough amounts of
lukewarm water. Wash the infection area using the solution and
pat dry.
4. Grapefruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit extract is one of the effective ways to treat
impetigo as it contains antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
It also works as non-toxic disinfectant.
To 2 tablespoons of water, add few drops of grapefruit
seed extract.
Using a cotton ball, apply the mixture on the infected
areas.
Leave it to dry completely.
Repeat the process 2 – 3 times in a day.
Note: You can also take GSE supplements to reduce impetigo.
Consult a doctor before taking any supplement.
5. Garlic
Garlic is one of the best ways to treat impetigo. It contains
antibiotic properties which kill the bacteria causing infection. It also relieves pain and itchiness.
In a pan, add 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and 2 – 3 minced
garlic cloves.
Fry the garlic cloves for a couple of minutes and remove
from the flame.
Let it cool down and strain.
Apply the oil on the affected areas.
Repeat the application 2 times in a day.
Note: Include garlic in your daily diet to treat the infection
from inside.
6. Manuka Honey

Spread a layer of Manuka honey on the affected areas.
Leave it on for few hours and rinse off with lukewarm
water.

For added benefits: Consume 1 – 2 teaspoons of Manuka honey daily to treat the infection from inside.
7. Goldenseal
Goldenseal is one of the herbal remedies to treat impetigo. It
contains antibacterial and antiseptic properties which disinfect the sores and blisters. Apart from that, it strengthens the immune system.
Add 1 teaspoon of goldenseal powder into a cup of hot
water.
Let it steep for 10 minutes.
Strain and let it cool down.
Use the solution to clean the infected areas and pat dry.

By following the below process, you can make a healing gel which
contains skin healing, antibacterial, antiseptic properties that
are helpful in treating impetigo.
Combine 50gms of freshly extracted aloe vera gel, 12
drops of lemon grass oil and 12 drops of patchouli
essential oil.
Apply enough amounts of the mixture on the affected
areas.
Leave it to dry completely.
Repeat the application at least 3 times in a day.
Alternative: you can also make a blend of 3 drops each of lemon
grass essential oil, tea tree essential oil, lavender essential oil
and patchouli essential oil. Dilute the mixture in 50ml of olive oil
or jojoba oil. Apply enough amounts of the mixture on the
affected areas.
17. Vaseline and Cornstarch
Though it sounds weird, this combination is said to reduce the symptoms of impetigo within 48 hours. Cornstarch keeps the affected area dry and Vaseline speeds up the healing process.
Combine enough amounts of Vaseline and cornstarch.

Avoid consuming sugar and fried foods at least till the
infection clears.
Take omega 3 fatty acids in either food or supplement
form.
Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and stay
hydrated.
Reduce eating red meat till the infection clears.
Include garlic, ginger and turmeric in your daily diet as
they contain anti-inflammatory and antibacterial
properties. They help to treat the problem from inside.
It is better to go on all-fruit diet for 2 – 3 days to
control and treat the infection.

These simple natural remedies have been very effective for
allergy relief in our family.

Different people seem to benefit from different remedies, so it might be worth trying more than
one of these to see which works best for you.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an age old remedy that is often
recommended for a variety of health conditions. I’ve personally
used it for allergy relief (and heartburn relief) with great
success. The theory is that its ability to reduce mucous
production and cleanse the lymphatic system makes it useful forallergies. It is also said to help digestion, weight loss and more
so it is worth a try!

What I did: When allergies hit, I mixed a teaspoon of organic,
unfiltered apple cider vinegar with “The Mother” (that part is
important) into a glass of water and drank this three times a
day. “The Mother” is simply a colony of beneficial bacteria
present in some organic and unfiltered ACV brands. Check the label, it should list if it contains it.
( This is the brand I use) This helped me with relief of acute
allergy symptoms and seemed to help avoid allergy attacks as
well when I do it daily.

2. Neti Pot and Saline Rinse
I haven’t personally tried the Neti pot because I’m a big scaredy cat about pouring things in my nose, but I have friends who swear by it, and I’ve used saline nasal spray before. (If you use
one, I’d love to hear your experience in the comments!) The basic theory is that you use a Neti Pot filled with a sterile saline solution to flush out the sinuses of allergens and irritations.
Surprisingly, I’ve heard this recommended by conventional and alternative doctors, and it seems that it doesn’t really have a downside.
To use: Either use a pre-made saline rinse or make your own by dissolving 1 teaspoon of himalayan or sea salt in a quart of boiled distilled water. Cool completely and put in the Neti Pot .
Pour through one nostril and let it drain out the other.

3. Quercetin
Quercetin is a natural bioflavonoid that is said to help stabilize mast cells to keep them from releasing histamine. It is also a potent antioxidant that is said to help reduce inflammation. It is
best used as a long term remedy and many people start taking it
about 4-6 weeks before allergy season to help prevent allergy
symptoms. As with any herb, you should check with your doctor before using, especially if you have a liver problem, are pregnant, or are on hormonal contraceptives.
To Use: Though Quercetin is naturally found in foods like citrus and broccoli, it is very difficult to get the amount needed to relive allergies from food alone. A supplemental dose can be helpful for preventing allergies or helping acute symptoms. Not recommended during pregnancy or nursing though some practitioners feel it is safe after the first trimester and while nursing.

4. Nettle Leaf
Nettle leaf is another natural antihistamine that can be very
effective as it naturally blocks the body’s ability to produce
histamine. It grows in many places and can be made in to a
tincture or tea, but for allergy relief, capsules made from dried
nettle leaves are the easiest and most effective option.
Nettle leaf can also be used in combination with other herbs to
make a soothing herbal tea for allergy relief. It is often mixed
with peppermint leaf and sometimes red raspberry leaf to make a refreshing allergy relief tea.
What I do: I often include nettle in homemade herbal tea during allergy season ( recipe at the bottom of this post ) and use capsules for acute relief of allergy symptoms.

5. Probiotics
Allergies are the result of an imbalance in the immune system
that causes the body to react too strongly to a stimuli . New
research links the presence of beneficial bacteria in the gut
with reduced incidence of allergies.
Evidence is even emerging that a mother’s gut bacteria during
pregnancy and nursing can impact a child’s likelihood of getting allergies throughout life .
