📡 Most Common DeFi Terms
⚫️ As more decentralized exchanges become available on The Open Network, an increasing number of users are encountering various terms from the DeFi sector. To assist newcomers to TON, we have decided to investigate this topic.
⚫️ To start with, the main difference between decentralized exchanges and centralized ones is the absence of an intermediary in the form of any company (such as Binance or OKX). All transactions on DEX occur through a smart contract, which acts as a guarantor of the successful transaction.
⚫️ When discussing decentralized exchanges, we come across concepts such as liquidity and price impact. In contrast to conventional centralized exchanges, the price of tokens on a DEX is determined by the amount of tokens and TON available in the liquidity pool. For instance, if there are 10 TON and 100 MEGA tokens in the liquidity pool, the price of 1 MEGA would be 0.1 TON. Note: TON is not mandatory in trade pairs, so you can create pairs like BOLT/MEGA or AMBRA/BOLT.
⚫️ The token price on decentralized exchanges does not stand still — it changes after each transaction. Therefore, the larger the number of tokens present in the liquidity pool, the less impact transactions will have on the price. A month ago, Megaton.Finance was launched on TON Blockchain, which from the start became a leader in terms of the number of tokens in liquidity, or total value locked (TVL).
⚫️ We are eagerly waiting for the other exchanges on TON — DeDust.io, STON.fi — to catch up with their competitor and continue to develop the DeFi sector on The Open Network.

TON is on Cointelegraph’s Top 100 list!
It was only two short months ago when we were celebrating The Open Network’s accomplishments of 2022, but the leaps and bounds TON made last year caught the attention of Cointelegraph, the crypto and blockchain industry’s No. 1 media news resource.
Cointelegraph releases an annual Top 100 list of the most influential and impactful people in the industry. This year, not only did it include TON on its list, but it ranked the TON blockchain 29th overall (and it was only one of three blockchains to make the list).
The article touches on TON’s history and highlights some of its biggest milestones, such as the launch of TON Storage and TON DNS and a trio of African nations adopting the TON blockchain on a government level.
When your blockchain gets recognition from the industry’s most prominent news site, you know you’re doing something right—it’s a testament to TON’s vision and philosophy for a decentralized Web3 internet.
Of course, we have to give credit where credit is due. TON is home to some of the brightest programming minds in the blockchain industry, and without them, TON’s landscape could have turned out vastly differently.
And last but not least, no network or blockchain would succeed without a supportive community, and the TON community is the life force driving our ecosystem, so pat yourselves on the back—we salute you!
Here’s to another fruitful year at TON; let the good times roll.

Games based on the TON blockchain
The GameFi sector on TON has been bustling with activity lately, which has prompted us to write a post about three games you can play right now.
▪️ FANTON
Fanton is a football-based play-to-earn game on TON. Players collect cards depicting their favorite football stars, assemble teams, and compete in tournaments for Toncoin and NFT prizes.

The game begins when you emerge from a spaceship after crash-landing on an uninhabited planet — Zeya. You’re tasked with building a base and extracting the planet’s resources before setting off to find your way home. However, resources are finite, meaning there may not be enough to go around.
Every so often among the colonists are tournaments where players can win Toncoin and in-game items.
▪️ TON CAPS
Another play-to-earn game, TON Caps pits players against one another in battles for NFT “caps.”
Players can collect these caps and other NFTs and compete to win the caps of other players.
TON Caps is played directely within Telegram’s web app and has high-quality animations and deep gameplay mechanics.

A community vote on optimizing TON tokenomics.
Voting day has arrived. We invite all Toncoin holders to take part in the community proposal of tokenomics optimization on ton.vote.
Ton.vote is a voting platform created by a community contributor, Orbs team, led by Tal Kol. This platform is open for all Toncoin holders, regardless of the size of their holdings or whether the person is a validator or not. While the result of this voting does not have a binding effect on the network itself, it empowers all Toncoin holders to cast a vote and let their voice and opinion on important matters be heard in the community.
The community vote will last for seven days from February 14 13:00 PM UTC to February 21 13:00 PM UTC. Once this vote is completed, the network vote – the vote casted by validators with their staked Toncoin – will take place from approximately February 21 to February 24.
After both votes are concluded, ton.vote will count and display a combined result along with various analytics to help better understand the demographics of voters.
It is important to note that the community vote cannot result in changing the blockchain configurations like the network vote can. However, the collective voice of the community is indeed of critical importance for the validators in making a decision that truly reflects the opinion of all types of Toncoin holders. We encourage every single Toncoin holder to take advantage of this opportunity.
Since the proposal was published, the community engaged in discussions through various avenues, both private and public.
On the one hand, advocates of the proposal argue that it does not break the tenets of decentralization if only the inactive early miners’ wallets are impacted. On the other hand, those who are against the proposal argue that such a move may be viewed as setting a negative precedent, especially to those who are not fully aware of all the circumstances.
We are encouraging everyone to read the two different arguments set forth by vocal members in the TON community, below, in order to make an informed decision.
Tal: https://blog.ton.org/adding-vesting-to-unclaimed-mining-rewards.
Vudi: https://blog.ton.org/freezing-inactive-accounts-of-the-first-miners.
Finally, on behalf of the community, we would like to thank those who made it possible to allow everyone to vote on the ton.vote platform and all of those who are voluntarily participating in this consensus process together.
