Wealthy Germans, Israelis, and others are buying kidneys from poor Kenyans through an illegal organ-trafficking network linked to Israeli middlemen.

Donors are mostly young, poor Kenyan men. They’re offered €2,000 to €6,000. Some are misled. Some are underpaid. Buyers pay up to €200,000. Most deals are done in cash, with no oversight, according to investigations by Deutsche Welle and others.

The trafficking ring is run by MedLead, a company led by Israeli businessman Robert Shpolansky. It reportedly has ties to Kenya’s political elite, including former MP Swarup Mishra, an ally of President William Ruto.

Despite German laws banning commercial organ sales, a German-registered website is helping to broker these illegal deals. After plundering Africa’s natural resources, wealthy Westerners are now commodifying African bodies.

The free market has reached people’s internal organs—preying on the poor, often in the Global South, through dangerous surgeries. Victims are left with only one kidney to filter toxins.

Molotov cocktails flew during clashes with riot police at the National University in Bogotá, Colombia.

The protests erupted on the anniversary of the 2021 National Strike, one of the largest uprisings in Colombia’s recent history.

That movement led to the country’s first leftist government under President Gustavo Petro.

However, divisions have grown between the government and the front-line organizers of the 2021 protests, who mobilized against Colombia’s socioeconomic crisis.

Many demand justice for the 169 people killed during the 2021 uprising. Petro promised accountability during his campaign, but progress has stalled.

The anger is also often directed against the notorious ESMAD riot police unit, which Petro promised to eliminate but failed to do so.

Students are increasingly disillusioned with the government’s failure to reform the education system.

Despite the criticism, many of the 2021 movement also acknowledge political gains made under Colombia’s first leftist government.

Guerrilla fighters from the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) ambushed Indonesian military forces. The TPNPB is the armed wing of the Free Papua Movement, which seeks independence for West Papua from Indonesia.

The Papua conflict is a low-intensity guerrilla war that has lasted since the 1960s, rooted in Dutch colonial rule.

West Papua was formally colonized by the Netherlands in 1898. Dutch control in the region that makes up present-day Indonesia began as early as the 1600s through the Dutch East India Company.

After gaining independence, Indonesia took control of West Papua and began exploiting its natural resources on behalf of foreign corporations.

Estimates suggest that up to 500,000 people—mostly Indigenous Papuans—have been killed in the conflict. Despite spanning over 60 years, the war remains one of the least reported armed struggles in the world.

Do you know the story behind these horrifying images?

On this day in 2004, the world was shocked by leaked images of US soldiers committing war crimes at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. The grim legacy of this scandal, however, still haunts us today, as those responsible for these heinous acts continue to evade justice.

Back in April 2004, the world was stunned by the release of hundreds of photos showing US military personnel brutalizing and sexually assaulting detainees at the infamous prison in Iraq. The Red Cross reported that up to 90% of the prisoners there had been wrongly detained.

These horrific images included US soldiers sexually assaulting and humiliating male and female prisoners, soldiers laughing and posing with the corpse of a detainee who had been tortured to death, and prisoners being subjected to electrocution threats and forced to simulate sex acts while soldiers looked on and cheered.

Happy Mussolini-Upside-Down-Day!

On this day, 80 years ago, the Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini was executed, marking the end of more than 20 years of fascism in Italy. We have colorized photos from the era showcasing Italian anti-fascist partisan fighters.

Mussolini and his mistress disguised themselves as German soldiers and attempted to flee the country. However, a communist Partisan Brigade in the village of Dongo, on Lake Como, identified Mussolini, captured, and executed them.

The bodies of Mussolini, his mistress, and his fascist colleagues were transported to Milan, where they were displayed in a piazza. A furious crowd stomped on and spat on their bodies before they were strung up outside a gas station.

10,000 soldiers have surrounded Maoist fighters in India's largest military campaign against rural resistance in decades, according to Indian officials. Villages have been sealed off, water sources captured, and supply lines severed, leaving fighters and civilians trapped without food or escape.

The government calls it a “decisive campaign,” unleashing drones, explosives, and paramilitary squads across Chhattisgarh’s forests. Three women Maoists have already been killed under siege.

But this assault is only the latest phase of a silent war: over 300 Maoists have been killed in the past two years, deaths officials present as victories in a war against “internal threats.” Beneath the language of "development," the assault clears the way for mining corporations to seize the land and displace its people.

New footage shows masked French police violently storming the home of journalist Shahin Hazamy at dawn. Inside were his pregnant wife and two young children. Hazamy’s wife was thrown against a wall, while Hazamy was tackled to the ground, handcuffed, and pinned by the neck for nearly four minutes, struggling to breathe. His partner’s cries about his serious respiratory illness were ignored.

In the footage, officers try to dismantle the surveillance camera, while Hazamy’s 3-year-old son pleads with his mother: “The man hit Daddy.” Hazamy’s press credentials were dismissed. Phones, journalistic equipment, his wife’s computer, and even his children's tablet were seized.

Detained for more than 48 hours under vague terrorism charges, Hazamy’s case highlights a growing European crackdown on pro-Palestine journalism.

“I spent 11 days in a torture room.” – Álvaro Pato, communist militant and former political prisoner, was arrested and tortured during Portugal’s fascist state. On the 51st anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, we remember the resistance and the legacy of the Portuguese Communist Party.

For nearly 50 years, Salazar’s fascism maintained control through brutal repression in Portugal, using torture, imprisonment, and executions to silence opposition. The state’s violent tactics, combined with the harsh economic reality faced by the working class and resistance to colonial wars, fueled widespread resentment.

The revolution on April 25, 1974, ended this. The communists played a key role in organizing resistance, advocating for nationalizations, land reforms, and expanding workers’ rights. Despite early victories, the revolution faced fierce opposition from reactionary forces, culminating in a counter-revolution that reversed many reforms. Nevertheless, the Carnation Revolution remains a symbol of resistance.

Israeli forces detained Palestinian journalist Ali Samoudi during a raid in Jenin, in the Occupied West Bank. The raid took place at dawn and targeted the home of Samoudi's son. The occupation forces reportedly destroyed his belongings, interrogated him, and arrested him.

Samoudi, one of the few journalists reporting from Jenin, was featured in our report on the Israeli military operation "Iron Wall," which targeted Palestinian refugee camps and cities.

Since October 2023, Israel has arrested at least 85 journalists and media workers—often without charge—in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem.

Israel’s activity in the Syrian-occupied Golan suggests a plan to seize Syrian oil. Unusual operations by engineering teams and oil companies have been reported in the occupied territories.

Israeli teams have surveyed areas along the disengagement line in preparation for restarting oil exploration projects. Israel is considering drilling in newly occupied lands or using angled drilling from areas it has controlled since 1967.

This isn’t the first time Israel has sought to extract oil from Syrian territory. Exploration began in 1970, with the Israeli National Oil Company receiving a secret license to operate in the Golan. Around $25M was spent before operations were halted in 1992 by Prime Minister Rabin during negotiations with Damascus.

The project was revived when Netanyahu became Prime Minister, with drilling resuming in 1997. Three major operations in the Golan uncovered “oil reserves that could reach billions of barrels.” Syrians are concerned Israel may target both oil and water sources.

New footage shows massive US airstrikes on Yemen. The video, recorded from a Turkish cargo ship in the Red Sea, may have captured the intense US bombardment of Ras Isa port, which killed at least 80 people.

The US military campaign in Yemen has caused significant economic and military losses. Yesterday, the US announced that an F-18 fighter jet crashed into the sea while evading fire from the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF).

The F-18, valued at a minimum of $67 million, was deployed from the USS Truman aircraft carrier, currently stationed in the Red Sea as part of the US offensive against Yemen.

A recent statement by US officials confirmed the loss of seven multi-million-dollar drones in Yemen. The MQ-9 drones, each worth approximately $30 million, were reportedly shot down by the YAF.

The US is striking Yemen to break the Red Sea blockade and cripple YAF forces. Civilian casualties continue to rise, but the YAF remains defiant—vowing support for Gaza in its resistance against Israel's extermination war.

Hundreds of fascists gathered in Dongo, Italy, to commemorate the killing of the Italian fascist dictator Mussolini and 15 high-ranking fascist officials.

A police cordon separated the fascists from a counter-demonstration of citizens who had gathered to “defend the memory of the partisan martyrs.” Fascist salutes were met with jeers and the singing of “Bella Ciao.”

The Italian government has called for “sobriety” in the celebrations of Liberation Day. While government officials justified this by citing national mourning for the death of Pope Francis, critics view it as part of an increasingly fascist trend. In many cities, marches and events have been canceled, some bands have been asked to refrain from playing resistance anthems, and individuals have been identified for displaying banners supporting antifascism.

In 1945, the Italian fascist hierarchs, fleeing with Mussolini toward Switzerland, were captured and executed by the partisan resistance on April 28.

The DPRK confirmed for the first time that its soldiers are fighting for Russia in the war against Ukraine. Today, the ruling party’s newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that soldiers from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) are actively involved in combat in Russia’s Kursk region.

The report came just two days after Russian military sources officially acknowledged DPRK troops’ involvement in the conflict. Until now, both countries have been discreet about revealing information regarding DPRK troop participation.

The Russian Defense Ministry released footage showing how Russian forces have been training DPRK soldiers for their deployment. Before this, Western media had speculated widely about DPRK soldiers, describing their combat tactics as anything from “suicidal” to “highly effective.”

In June 2024, a military agreement was signed between Moscow and Pyongyang, guaranteeing mutual military support in case of war. Since then, Russia and the DPRK have deepened their military and economic ties.

The US bombed a migrant detention center in Saada, Yemen, killing at least 69 people and injuring 47. The center housed 115 migrants of African nationalities, more than half of whom were killed in the US aggression. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams continue to recover bodies.

According to the Yemeni Ministry of Interior, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were involved in supervising the center. However, no statement has yet been made by either humanitarian organization.

The latest US massacre in Yemen is part of an ongoing military offensive that began in mid-March under the Trump administration. US Central Command announced that it has conducted over 800 airstrikes in Yemen, killing more than 220 people.

Despite the US’s significant military and economic investment in the aggression against Yemen, the Yemeni Armed Forces continue to enforce the naval blockade and target US aircraft carriers and Israel.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply after an attack killed 26 tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of backing the attack, though it presented no public evidence. It then moved to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty — a vital agreement that guarantees Pakistan access to the rivers feeding its farms, energy grid, and drinking water.

The treaty, signed in 1960, had survived two wars. Pakistan, whose economy depends heavily on agriculture, warned that any disruption would be treated as an act of war. India also expelled diplomats, closed the main border, and ordered Pakistani nationals to leave. While pro-independence Kashmiri groups condemned the killings, Indian authorities have used the attack to tighten repression across Kashmir.

Gunfire has already been exchanged along the Line of Control. The risk of a wider conflict between two nuclear-armed states is growing — in one of the most heavily militarized regions in the world.

Italian communists led the anti-fascist resistance that overthrew Mussolini and helped end WW2. Today, Italy celebrates “Liberation Day” to commemorate the victory of the resistance.

We should remember that the most significant armed resistance group was the “Garibaldi Brigades,” led by the Communist Party of Italy. Liberals and social democrats were also part of the resistance but played a much smaller role.

However, the Communist Party did not always support a strategy of armed struggle against Mussolini, despite being urged by Lenin and Gramsci to do so.

Apple and Meta were fined €700 million by the EU for abusing market dominance—a penalty far below what EU law intended. Fines could have reached billions, suggesting Brussels bowed to US pressure. Days before, Trump had paused tariff threats against Europe.

This is part of a broader story. In the early 2000s, the EU briefly blocked major US mergers that could create monopolies. In response, Washington pushed for deregulation. By 2004, most tools to stop corporate consolidation were dismantled. Giants across sectors expanded unchecked—especially tech.

Regulation of user data was the only area where Brussels tried to regain control, challenging transatlantic capital. EU rules introduced fines and limits on data-driven business, directly impacting tech profits.

Trump is back, Big Tech executives are in his cabinet, and Musk supports far-right parties in Europe, aligning with movements that push for deregulation. Silicon Valley aligned with Trump to shape future policies—and now, that alliance is paying off.
