Hmmm…. It’s all pretty simple and mechanical so far. Designing the API to be useful while still keeping the internal architecture clean and reasonable is the hard part for this project because there are tricky details. For example, in the LuaJIT build, some tasks are codegen, and one of them produces an object file. These types of inputs were hard to represent in my existing architecture because it was designed for buildable C sources that create objects. Representing the dependency without making everything more complicated was tricky.

do you think C23 is very different? The new C standards only added a few things sparingly, on purpose. the point stands though, if you want to understand C, understand its roots and use before you worry about modernizing
