Other Important Points from Pavel Durov's speech
• Authors now have the opportunity to withdraw rewards for ads purchased on their channels in the TON cryptocurrency (subject to meeting certain criteria). It's possible that monetisation for groups may also be introduced in the future.
• In upcoming updates, Telegram will introduce the ability to purchase digital goods inside the platform.

Sticker and Emoji NFTs
During Pavel Durov’s speech at the TOKEN2049 event, he announced that in the future users will be able to trade Telegram stickers and emojis as NFTs.
95% of the revenue earned from those will be for the creators, and the remaining 5% of the sale price will be for commissions.
The exact procedure of creating an NFT stickers and emojis is currently unknown.

Changes in Monetization Terms
The terms of the ad revenue sharing platform have been updated regarding the withdrawal of funds. Channel owners are now required to withdraw their earned funds from their accounts in a timely manner. Any accumulated funds left in the platform's accounts may be canceled at the discretion of Telegram. There is no information available about the timeframe within which the tokens must be withdrawn.

Telegram for Android and iOS Has Been Updated to Version 10.11
In the first update of April, Telegram received new features that allow all users to easily and quickly create their own stickers and entire sticker packs using the new powerful in-built sticker editor.
• "My Profile" tab: In the new section located inside the hamburger menu, users can see their profile as others would see it on Telegram, publish a new story or pin an old one, and much more.
• Built-in sticker editor: Now all users can create stickers using the built-in sticker editor. Based on the contents of the sticker, Telegram will automatically suggest the most suitable emoji that corresponds to to each sticker.
• Sticker Pack Editing: It's now possible to edit your own sticker packs directly on the sticker panel - for example, renaming them or changing the order of stickers in the pack. This can be done using the "Edit" button located next to your sticker packs name.
• Recommended channels: A "Channels" tab has appeared amongst the global search screen. It displays channels the user has recently joined, in addition to recommended public channels. It is probable the fundamental mechanics of this feature rely on the principle of the "Similar Channels" feature. They are based on the subscriptions of a particular user.
Other new features include: the ability to pin up to 3 posts in a profile, link preview for sticker packs, maximum number of reactions in a channel, notification settings for reactions, and the ability for Premium users to enable ads to display in channels.

Ability to View Peer IDs in Desktop Clients
In recent updates, Telegram Desktop and Telegram for macOS brought a new experimental feature which shows Peer IDs in profiles of chats.
Every account, group, channel, and bot in Telegram has its own digital identifier. @tginfo explains how to enable the display of these IDs in the official Telegram Desktop and macOS applications.
To see the peer IDs in profiles, you need to do the following:
For Telegram Desktop:
1. Install the latest version of the app
2. Log in to your account.
3. Go to Settings › Advanced Settings › Experimental Settings and enable the option Show Peer IDs in Profile.
For Telegram for macOS:
1. Install the latest version of the app

Telegram has officially presented a detailed list of new features for March, which includes a suite of special capabilities for businesses:
Developers have long been able to create powerful bots and mini-apps in Telegram, which are actively used by companies.
Starting with today's update, any user can use the features for business - no programming skills are required.
Monetisation Program for Channel Owners
Starting today, Telegram is introducing a reward system for content creators, allowing Telegram channel owners to receive 50% of the advertising revenue displayed in their channels.
Rewards for Content Creators
• Owners of public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers can receive 50% of the revenue from ads shown in their channel as a reward.
• Rewards can be withdrawn without any fees, or they can be used to pay for ads on Telegram, purchase collectible addresses, or for Premium subscription giveaways.
• Advertising revenue statistics can be tracked in Channel Settings > Statistics > Monetization.
• Reward withdrawals will become available to channel owners on the Fragment platform in the coming weeks.
Cryptocurrency-based Advertising with TON
• Now any user can promote their bot or channel on Telegram using Toncoin - with minimal budgets.
• When creating an ad message, you choose specific channels for placement - this way, you have full control over the context in which your ads will be shown.
• To create your own ad message, simply log in with your account on the Telegram Ad Platform.
• Currently, TON-based ads are not displayed to users in certain countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, and Israel.

Supreme Court of Spain Suspends Order to Block Telegram
Today, the Supreme Court of Spain suspended its order to block Telegram in the country as it awaits a police report on the impact of the temporary ban on users.
Judge Santiago Pedraz instructed the national police to prepare a report on "the characteristics of Telegram, as well as the impact of the temporary suspension on its users."
As a reminder, the order to block Telegram in Spain was issued on Friday, March 22.

Telegram takes the top spot in the Chinese Google Play rankings
Pavel Durov commented on the removal of Telegram from the Chinese App Store. According to him, the total number of downloads for the messenger has not decreased, and the app holds the top position in the Chinese Google Play top charts from the number of installs. Users from China use VPNs to circumvent the ban.
Durov has also shared his theory on why apps were removed from the App Store in China: the government is forcing iPhone users to switch to devices from local companies like Xiaomi. Android does not have a strict tie-in to the manufacturer's app store, allowing users to install apps from other sources.
For iOS users, the option to use the web version of the messenger remains available.

Official Promotion of Mini Apps and Bots
Pavel Durov talked about their plans to officially start recommending Mini Apps and bots to users later this year.
Out of 900 million monthly active users, 360 million interact with Mini Apps every month. We can easily double this number if we start suggesting Mini Apps and chatbots to our audience. We haven’t started doing that yet, but this is coming later this year.
Telegram Removed from App Store in China
According to Bloomberg, the App Store has removed Telegram from its platform in China at the request of authorities. In addition, Threads, WhatsApp, and Signal were also removed.
Previously, Chinese authorities required developers to register in order for their apps to remain on the domestic market.

FAKE: "Telegram Ads Will Get Images and Carousel Galleries"
Some channels are spreading rumors claiming Telegram is preparing to introduce a new ad format inside the messenger. Particularly, interactive image carousels, ads between posts, and higher character limits are mentioned, along with other numerous additions.
For the source of the claims, the channels reference a Telegram story from Sales Manager at Magneto.pro, an ad agency that specializes in Telegram Ads.
When asked by @tginfo's editors, a source closely related to Telegram insisted the claims are false, since the messenger isn't working at implementing such a functionality right now.
Recently, Telegram introduced a big refresh to the Ads platform, allowing advertizers to buy Telegram Ads in more countries using TON cryptocurrency. This might indicate the Ad Platform is still under active development — the company continues to explore new ways to monetize on its path to becoming profitable.

Telegram Reaches Self-Sustainability
Pavel Durov announced on his channel that Telegram has surpassed the milestone of 900 million monthly active users. Half of those users use Telegram on a daily basis.
According to DataAI, the messenger is the 6th most popular and 6th most downloaded app in the world.
Durov also reported that Telegram demonstrated positive cash flow in the first quarter of 2024, and intends to become profitable this year.

The Cost for Bot Username Upgrades Decreased by 5 Times
Recently, the cost of upgrading usernames bought on Fragment for use on bots, has decreased from 5,000 TON to just 1,000 TON.
Since February, there has been a rapid increase in the value of TON. Although, it is unknown if this could be the reason.

New Telegram Monetization System
A source close to Telegram talked to Durov's Code on the specifics of the new monetization system. Here are the main points of the article:
• The Telegram Advertising Platform now allows purchasing ads only with TON. Payment by fiat currency remains available only to advertising agencies: their personal accounts on the Telegram website still allow this.
• Ads purchased with TON can only be targeted to specific channels. It is impossible to target them to any topic or location. Such ads cannot contain external links, but the entry threshold for buying them is only 20 TON.
• Ads purchased with TON aren't displayed to channel subscribers if the phone numbers linked to their accounts are issued by Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, or Germany.
• The "Monetization" tab is available in the channel statistics section only if at least half of the channel's subscribers have phone numbers issued outside of Russia, Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, or Germany, and the total number of channel subscribers exceeds 1,000. The location of the channel owner and the phone number of their account do not affect the display of the "Monetization" tab.
• Even if the "Monetization" tab is not displayed on a channel, the channel owner's account will still receive funds from ads purchased with TON and shown to their channel's subscribers. However, they will not be able to withdraw these funds until the conditions from the previous point are met.

Telegram for Android and iOS Updated to Version 10.10
Today, the second March update of Telegram was released. It includes new features for the Telegram Business feature set, and every user can now provide more information about themselves in their profile.
• User Birthdays: Users can now optionally set their birthdate in their profile and configure its visibility in privacy settings.
• Linking a Personal Channel to Profile: Any user can now specify a public channel they own in their profile.
• Linking a Chatbot to an Account: The previously announced feature to integrate a third-party bot into your account for automatically handling incoming messages and interacting with customers has been added. This option is part of the Telegram Business feature set.
• Custom Welcome Screen: You can now set your own title, text, and sticker for the welcome screen that users see when they start a conversation with you. This option is part of the Telegram Business feature set.
• Special Links for Contacting Users: Share short links with clients that, when clicked, start a conversation with you using a pre-written phrase. Statistics on the number of clicks are provided for each such link. This option is part of the Telegram Business feature set.
• Earning Revenue from Channel Ads: For some countries, it is now possible to withdraw 50% of the revenue earned from displaying ads in a channel. Payments will only be made in TON cryptocurrency.
Other new features include: disabling ads in a specific channel upon reaching level 50, improved privacy settings, and displaying information about collectible usernames directly in Telegram.

🪙 Custom Intros
An upcoming update to the Telegram for Business feature set will include the ability to customize an intro for yourself.
Based on a video from the messenger team, business accounts will be able to edit the look of the greeting message screen that is shown in an empty chat with a user. Currently, by default, this space shows a prompt to send a greeting sticker to the other user.

Spain Blocks Telegram Over Distribution of Pirated Content by Users
A Spanish judge has ordered the temporary blocking of the popular messaging app Telegram in response to a lawsuit filed by several local media companies, including EGEDA, Mediaset España, A3 Media, and Movistar Plus. The decision, made by Judge Santiago Pedras of the National Court of Spain, comes as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Telegram users have been distributing pirated content.
The court had requested that Telegram provide technical data to help identify the owners of accounts allegedly used to infringe upon intellectual property rights. However, the messaging app failed to comply with this request, leading to the temporary blocking order and a six-month extension of the investigation.
According to the court ruling, the blocking must be implemented within three hours of receiving the official court notice. The order encompasses not only the Telegram apps, but also the Telegram.org website and the web version of the platform.
Telegram has a significant user base in Spain, with a recent survey by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) indicating that approximately 8.5 million users rely on the messaging app, meaning this ban will affect a vast amount of people that use Telegram as an essential tool for communication on a day to day basis.
